A kutatás összefoglalója, célkitűzései szakemberek számára Itt írja le a kutatás fő célkitűzéseit a témában jártas szakember számára. A kötet, amely a szerző megvédett MTA doktori értekezésének átdolgozott változata, összefoglaló elemzés a magyar vidéki társadalom ezredforduló közeli változásairól. Bemutatásra kerülnek a vidék elnevezés különböző fogalmai (a vidék reprezentációja és imázsa), a vidék és helyi társadalmának speciális vonatkozásai, a hazai és a közép-európai településszerkezet - város és falu - viszonyrendszerének sajátos fejlődési modelljei, a vidék parasztalanítása, a mezőgazdaság szerkezeti átalakítása, a vidék társadalmi változások és vidékhez kapcsolódó hatalmi szerkezet. Egy fejezet nemzetközi összehasonlító elemzésre kutatás alapján az európai régiók történet parasztságának hanyatlását, eltűnését hasonlítja össze.
Mi a kutatás alapkérdése? Ebben a részben írja le röviden, hogy mi a kutatás segítségével megválaszolni kívánt probléma, mi a kutatás kiinduló hipotézise, milyen kérdéseket válaszolnak meg a kísérletek. a kutatás alapkérdése, hogy milyen trásadalmi és hatalmin változások történtek az ezredforduló körül a magyar vidéki társadalomban.
Mi a kutatás jelentősége? Röviden írja le, milyen új perspektívát nyitnak az alapkutatásban az elért eredmények, milyen társadalmi hasznosíthatóságnak teremtik meg a tudományos alapját. A kutatás összefoglalója, célkitűzései laikusok számára Ebben a fejezetben írja le a kutatás fő célkitűzéseit alapműveltséggel rendelkező laikusok számára. Ez az összefoglaló a döntéshozók, a média, illetve az érdeklődők tájékoztatása szempontjából különösen fontos az NKFI Hivatal számára. Az értekezés a jelenkori magyar vidéki társadalom szerkezeti és hatalmi változásairól szóló kutatásaimnak és elemzéseimnek az összefoglalása. A cím minden szavának jelentősége van a dolgozat témája szempontjából. A „jelenkori”-val azt hangsúlyozom, hogy jelentősebb szemléletváltás szükséges a vidékkutatásokban az éppen lezáruló, folytatódó vagy kezdődő történések megértéséhez. A vidékdefiníció a magyar tudományban és politikai diskurzusban sem egységes. A vidéki társadalom jelenségeivel több tudomány is foglakozik. A szociológia, a néprajz és antropológia ágazatai, a társadalomföldrajz és társadalomstatisztika, a nőtudomány és a szociálpolitika, a politikatudomány, az agrárközgazdaságtan és még más tudományágak is a maguk nézőpontja és módszerei szerint határozzák meg, hogy mit értenek vidéken, és mit emelnek vizsgálataikba a vidéki valóság elemei közül. A vidékkutatások megosztottsága és interdiszciplinaritása miatt a szocializmust követő korszak és az ezredforduló vidéki történéseinek megértése szükségszerűen multidimenzionális feladat.

The decades before and after the turn of the millenium, the total transformation of the rural society is leading to effects.
