A kutatás összefoglalója, célkitűzései szakemberek számára Itt írja le a kutatás fő célkitűzéseit a témában jártas szakember számára. 2000 áprilisában indult a harmadik kiadása és egyben bővített, javított változata a magyar történeti bibliográfia (Kosáry Domokos, Bevezetés Magyarország történetének forrásaiba és irodalmába) nemzetközileg is elismert vállalkozásának, amelynek azóta két újabb kötete is napvilágot látott (2003-ban és 2008-ban). Az új kiadás célja, hogy útmutatót adjon történelmünk első ismert évezredének tanulmányozásához, a kezdetektől a feudális kor végső szakaszáig (1848-ig). A tervezett, legújabb irodalmat is tartalmazó retrospektív és annotált bibliográfiakötet ezúttal a kiadatlan, kéziratos, levéltári forrásanyagra koncentrál (I/4. Városi, mezővárosi, községi levéltárak és forrásközlések), és alapos, kiterjedt tájékoztatást nyújt a nyomtatott (önálló kötetek és folyóiratcikkek) szakirodalom bemutatása mellett a magyar történelem levéltárakban és múzeumokban őrzött kéziratos forrásairól. A kézirat elkészítésekor a Történeti Bibliográfia Kutatócsoport ellenőrizte, aktualizálta és bővítette a korábbi kiadás levéltári adatait, és a kutatócsoport tagjai összegyűjtötték az elmúlt közel ötven év levéltári és könyvtári anyagáról szóló szakirodalmát.
Mi a kutatás alapkérdése? Ebben a részben írja le röviden, hogy mi a kutatás segítségével megválaszolni kívánt probléma, mi a kutatás kiinduló hipotézise, milyen kérdéseket válaszolnak meg a kísérletek. A magyar történettudomány alapvető segédletének, a történeti bibliográfia segédkönyvének kiadása aktuális, bővített adatokkal.
Mi a kutatás jelentősége? Röviden írja le, milyen új perspektívát nyitnak az alapkutatásban az elért eredmények, milyen társadalmi hasznosíthatóságnak teremtik meg a tudományos alapját. Mutassa be, hogy a megpályázott kutatási területen lévő hazai és a nemzetközi versenytársaihoz képest melyek az egyediségei és erősségei a pályázatának! A városi levéltárakat bemutató kötet újabb kiadása elengedhetetlen segédeszközt jelent az akadémiai kutatás mellett az egyetemi oktatásban, valamint minden egyes hazai és külföldi érdeklődő számára, betöltve a hiányt a magyar történettudományban.

Ez az összefoglaló a döntéshozók, a média, illetve az érdeklődők tájékoztatása szempontjából különösen fontos az NKFI Hivatal számára. 2000 áprilisában jelent meg Kosáry Domokos Bevezetés Magyarország történetének forrásaiba és irodalmába. I. Általános rész. 1. Könyvtárak és bibliográfiák című kötete. Ezzel indult a harmadik kiadása és egyben a harmadik változata a magyar történeti bibliográfia nemzetközileg is elismert vállalkozásának, amelynek azóta két újabb kötete is napvilágot látott (2003-ban és 2008-ban). Az új kiadás célja, hogy útmutatót adjon történelmünk első ismert évezredének tanulmány ozásához, a kezdetektől a feudális kor végső szakaszáig (1848-ig). A magyar történettudomány jelenleg nem rendelkezik a levéltári forrásokat és a legújabb irodalmat is tartalmazó retrospektív és annotált bibliográfiával. Ezt a hiányt igyekszik betölteni e vállalkozás. A korábbi változatokat sűrűn forgatták kutatás, oktatás, tájékozódás, könyvtári teendők végzése közben. A könyvesboltokból hamar elfogytak, majd tünedezni kezdett könyvtáraink hozzáférhetőbb polcairól is, annak jeléül, hogy az érdeklődés nő iránta hazai és külföldi szakkörökben egyaránt. Legújabb kiadását ez teszi indokolttá.

Summary of the research and its aims for experts Describe the major aims of the research for experts. The third edition of Domokos Kosáry’s „Introduction to the Sources and Secondary Literature of Hungarian History” began with the publication of a volume (I. General part. 1. Libraries and Bibliographies) in April 2000. The new volumes (two others publiched in 2003 and 2008) will provide a comprehensive guide to the study of the first known thousand years of Hungarian history, that is from the beginnings until the end of the feudal period (1848). This retrospective and annotated bibliographical work (I/4. Városi, mezővárosi, községi levéltárak és forrásközlések) encompasses the historical sources preserved in archives, libraries and museums and the latest secondary literature. The new volume of the Hungarian Historical Workshop continued the bibliography serie and made an up-to-date version of the fourth volume. This contains the archival sources, detailed up-to-date information on the published Hungarian and foreign literature on these localities as well.

Libraries and Bibliographies) in April 2000. The new volumes (two others publiched in 2003 and 2008) will provide a comprehensive guide to the study of the first known thousand years of Hungarian history, that is from the beginnings until the end of the feudal period (1848). At present, Hungarian historians lack a retrospective and annotated bibliographical work that encompasses the historical sources and the latest secondary literature. The goal of the present project is to fill this gap. The earlier editions of this Hungarian historical bibliography have been widely used by researchers, teachers, librarians and the general public. However, these volumes have been long sold out and they are no longer available in the bookshops (and some of them have even disappeared from the reference shelves of libraries). This indicates the interest it generated at home and abroad and the demand there is for a new edition.

A magyar történeti bibliográfia soron következő kötete az 1970-es kiadása egyik részének (420–606. oldal) adja új, jelentősen kibővített változatát. A magyarországi önkormányzati (városi) levéltárak fejlődésének és segédleteinek bemutatása után tételesen tárgyalja a jelenlegi önkormányzati levéltárakat és azok feudális kori iratanyagát. A kötet ezt követően a városi, mezővárosi, községi (települési) levéltárakkal és az ezekre vonatkozó iratkiadásokkal foglalkozik behatóan: felvázolja a városi (községi) levéltárak történeti fejlődését, a feudális kori iratanyag struktúráját, közös segédleteiket. E szakasz túlnyomó része a történeti Magyarország, Horvátország és Szlavónia, illetve Erdély városi, mezővárosi és községi iratanyagának jelenlegi állapotáról nyújt bő tájékoztatást.

The volume has been published, as stipulated by the contract. Four hundred copies appeared, as opposed to the intended print run of 300. The current volume of the Hungarian Historical Bibliography is an up-to-date and considerably expanded version of pages 420 to 606 of the 1970 edition of the Hungarian Historical Bibliography. It starts with an introduction to the development of municipal (city/town) archives in Hungary together with a list of the relevant archival manuals. This section is followed by a detailed discussion of the surviving municipal archives with special reference to their feudal (pre-1848) archival material. It also contains a bibliography concerning the settlements in question, outlines the archival history of the individual city, town or village, and lists the source publications from their holdings. The volume is able to offer a general overview of the structure of the available feudal archival material and its joint manuals. The geographical scope of the publication is comprehensive: besides historical Hungary which includes Transylvania, the municipal archives of Croatia and Slavonia feature in it too.
