A magyar holokausztnak – a több ezer témához kapcsolódó publikáció ellenére – a mai napig vannak fehér foltjai, téves értelmezései. Ezek egyike a „jégre tett” strasshofi zsidók története, akikről – ha megemlékeznek – azt tudhatjuk meg, hogy ők szerencsések voltak, hiszen 75-80 %-uk túlélte a második világháborút. A Strasshofba deportált zsidó családok Bécsben és Alsó-Ausztriában dolgoztak, a kényszermunka során és a továbbszállításuk, illetve hazatérésük folyamán többször kerültek életveszélyes helyzetbe, többüket tömegesen megölték. Kutatásaink során előkerült és az SZTE Politológiai Tanszékének emlékköteteiben, a bécsi Wiesenthal Intézet weboldalán közzétett, konferenciákon bemutatott levéltári, hitközségi dokumentumok, könyvtárakban módszeresen feltárt újságcikkek, hazai és külföldi intézetekben őrzött visszaemlékezések sokasága, magánszemélyek archívumából előbukkant levelezőlapok, fotók, igazolványok sora árnyalja a 15 ezer strasshofi deportált élet- és munkakörülményeit, a táborparancsnokok, a magyarországi és ausztriai (akkor Ostmark) lakosság emberségét vagy kegyetlenségét, a túlélők hazatérésének lehetőségeit 1944 nyara és 1945 tavasza között, majd a visszatérés utáni beilleszkedés nehézségeit, egyesek esetében a felelősségre vonásnak okait és körülményeit.

Despite the thousands of publications on the subject, the Hungarian Holocaust still has its white spots and misinterpretations. One of these is the story of the Jews who were "put on ice" at Strasshof, who, if they are remembered, we learn that they were lucky, as 75-80% of them survived the Second World War. The Jewish families deported to Strasshof worked in Vienna and Lower Austria, and during the forced labor and during their onward transport and return home, they were repeatedly put in life-threatening situations, and many were killed. A wealth of archival and religious documents, newspaper articles found in libraries, reminiscences preserved in institutions at home and abroad, postcards, photographs and identity cards from the archives of private individuals, as well as a series of postcards, photographs and identity cards were published by the Department of Political Science of the University of Szeged, and published on the website of the Wiesenthal Institute in Vienna, and presented at conferences, provide a vivid picture of the living and working conditions of the 15,000 deportees to Strasshof. We have a very large amounts of documents about the humanity or cruelty of the camp commanders, the inhabitants of Hungary and Austria (then Ostmark), the possibilities for the survivors to return home after the Holocaust, the difficulties of reintegration after their return, and, in the case of some, the reasons and circumstances of their prosecution.
