Kutatásunk során arra kerestük a választ, hogy a munkanélkülieknek szánt vállalkozóvá válási támogatásnak van-e hatása a foglalkoztatásra, és ha igen, akkor a mért hatás hogyan változik a kontrollcsoport megválasztásától függően. Eredményeink szerint a támogatás pozitív hatással van a foglalkoztatásra, de a mért hatás erőssége sokkal kisebb, ha a kontrollcsoport tagjai a kezeltekkel egy időben lépnek ki a munkanélküliségből, mintha ezt nem kötjük ki. Ha nem kötöttük ki az egyidejűséget, ami a téma irodalmában a szokásos eljárás, akkor azt kaptuk, hogy 24 hónappal a programba lépést követően a kezeltek 16,9 százalékponttal nagyobb arányban foglalkoztatottak, vagy vállalkozók, mint a kontrollcsoport tagjai. A kumulatív hatást tekintve azt találtuk, hogy a program befejezésétől számított 24 hónap alatt összesen 4,5 hónappal többet voltak foglalkoztatottak, vagy vállalkozók a kezeltek, mint a kontrollcsoport tagjai. Abban az esetben viszont, amikor a kontrollcsoport tagjai a kezeltekkel egy időben léptek ki a munkanélküliségből, a mért hatás erőssége nemcsak jóval kisebb, hanem a a nem megfigyelt heterogenitás miatt bizonytalanabb is volt.
További fontos eredményünk, hogy a hátrányos munkapiaci helyzetű munkanélküliek számára, illetve azoknak, akik korábban nem vettek részt semmilyen aktív munkaerőpiaci programban nagyobb segítséget jelent ez a fajta támogatás, mint a jobb munkapiaci helyzetűeknek, vagy azoknak, akik már korábban vettek részt valamilyen támogatásban.

Our research sought to find out whether start-up subsidy for the unemployed has an effect on employment and, if so, how the measured effect varies depending on the choice of control group. Our results show that the support has a positive effect on employment, but the strength of the measured effect is much smaller when control group members exit unemployment at the same time as the treated, than if we did not stipulate this. If we did not stipulate simultaneity, which is the usual procedure in the literature on the subject, we found that 24 months after entering the programme, the treated group members were 16.9 percentage points more likely to be employed or self-employed than the control group members. Looking at the cumulative effect, we found that the treated group members were employed or self-employed for a total of 4.5 months more than the control group members during the 24 months after the end of the program. However, in the case where the control group members exited unemployment at the same time as the treated, the measured effect was not only much smaller but also more uncertain, due to the unobserved heterogeneity.
Another important finding is that unemployed people from disadvantaged labour market situations, or those who have not participated in any active labour market programme before, are more helped by this type of support than those from better labour market situations or those who have previously participated in some kind of support.
