A projekt az érzékeléssel és mentális reprezentációval (phantaszia) foglalkozó késő-antik újplatonikus elméleteket vizsgálta, feltárta egymáshoz való viszonyukat, valamint kimutatta a neves Arisztotelész-kommentátor Aphrodisziaszi Alexandrosz bennük fellelhető hatását. Különös figyelmet kapott Plótinosz: egy rövid, az érzékelésről és emlékezetről szóló értekezésének (IV.6) magyar fordítása és kommentárja született, valamint ennek elemzése egy angol nyelvű szaktanulmányban; emellett a test-lélek interakció érzékelés esetében adódó problémájának elemzése egy tanulmányban, és egy, a phantaszia kapcsán adódó szaktudományos vitát lezárni szándékozó tanulmány. A másik fókuszterület az Arisztotelész de Animának újplatonikus kommentátorai (Pszeudo-Philoponosz és Pszeudo-Szimplikiosz) által kidolgozott érzékeléselméletek rekonstrukciója és történeti perspektívában való elhelyezése volt. Ezeknek a vizsgálatoknak az eredményei nagyobb részt nemzetközi, referált szaklapokban jelentek meg, a magyar fordítás és kommentár magyar szakfolyóiratban.
Results in English
The project examined late-antique Neoplatonist theories of sense-perception and mental representation (phantasia), explored their inter-relations, and demonstrated the renowned Aristotle commentator Alexander of Aphrodisias’ influence on them. Special focus was given to Plotinus: in the Hungarian translation and commentary of a short treatise of his (IV.6) on sense-perception and memory and an English-language paper on it; the examination of the body-soul interaction in sense-perception in a study; and an essay that aims to close a scholarly debate on phantasia. The other focus was the reconstruction of theories of sense-perception deployed by Neoplatonist commentators on Aristotle’s de Anima (Pseudo-Philoponus and Pseudo-Simplicius) and putting them into historical perspective. Most of the time, the results of the investigations have been published in international and refereed periodicals, the Hungarian translation in a Hungarian scholarly journal.
