A megjelentetni tervezett kiadvány bemutatása Mutassa be a megjelentetni tervezett kiadványt (műfaj, nyelv, tartalom, példányszám, megjelenés várható ideje). Ismertesse a kiadvány jelentőségét a hazai és nemzetközi szakmai közösség számára. A kiadvány magyar és angol nyelven is kiadott tankönyv lesz (600 pld.); a megjelenés várható ideje legkésőbb 2024. első negyedéve. A tankönyv környezeti kérdésekkel, azok társadalmi hatásával és az erre adott közösségi válaszok bemutatásával foglalkozik. Ily módon szakmai jelentősége megkérdőjelezhetetlen, hiszen a környezeti problémákkal foglalkozó diszciplínák ma már világosan látják, hogy a kortárs ökológiai és gazdasági kérdések nem választhatók el a társadalmi kérdésektől. E felismerésnek köszönhetően egyre több egyetemen megjelennek a humán környezettudományi képzések. A tervezett olvasókönyv tehát egyetemi kurzusok, foglalkozások, de laikus érdeklődők számára is alapvető ismereteket nyújt; bemutatja a téma alapvető kérdéseit és esettanulmányokat is felsorakoztat. A tankönyv ötlete már meglévő igényből keletkezett: a PTE Néprajz – Kulturális Antropológia Tanszékén számos olyan kurzusunk van, ahol ezt az összefoglaló gyűjteményt sokat fogjuk használni. Ugyanígy igény van rá a PTE Nyári Egyetem „Social work and Social Ecology” kurzusain (oktatója vagyok), és a – terveink szerint − 2022. őszén induló szociálökológia MA szak (melynek szakfelelőse vagyok) számára is nélkülözhetetlen lesz. Minden bizonnyal más, már meglévő képzésekben is hasznos lesz (pl. szociális munka), és a PTE Fenntartható Fejlődésért Szakkollégium munkájában is használni fogjuk. E képzések angol nyelven is zajlanak, vagy hamarosan indulni fognak, ez indokolja az angol nyelvű kiadást is. További motivációm, hogy egyetemi pályám során elérkeztem ahhoz a ponthoz, ahol az egyetemi tanári cím megpályázására készülhetek fel. Ennek egyik kritériuma, hogy publikációim között szerepeljen tankönyv is.

Summary
Presentation of the proposed publication Present the proposed publication (type, language, content, number of copies, expected date of publication). Present the significance of the publication for the domestic and international scientific community. The publication will be a textbook published in both Hungarian and English (400 copies and online). The expected release time is the first quarter of 2024. The textbook deals with environmental issues, their social impact and the community responses to them. In this way its professional significance is unquestionable, as the disciplines dealing with environmental problems now clearly see that contemporary ecological and economic issues are inseparable from social issues. Thanks to this recognition, environmental humanities courses are taught at a growing number of universities. The planned book thus provides basic knowledge for university courses, but also for lay people. It presents the basic questions on the subject and also lists case studies. The idea of this book came from an existing need: we have a number of courses at the Dept. of European Ethnology and Cultural Anthropology (University of Pécs), where we will use this book. There is also a demand for it in the „Social work and Social Ecology” courses at the UP Summer University, and it will be indispensable in the Social Ecology MA starting in the autumn of 2022 (for which I am the supervisor). This book will certainly be useful for other existing trainings as well (eg. social work) and we will also use it in the work of the College for Sustainable Development. These courses are also taught in English, which justifies the publication in English. My further motivation is that during my university career I got to the point, where I could prepare to apply for the title of university professor. One of the criteria for this is that my publications include a textbook.

A humán környezettudomány a 21. század szülötte, egy olyan korszaké, amikor az emberiség már nem teheti meg, hogy a környezeti problémákat figyelmen kívül hagyja, vagy egyetlen nézőpontból próbálja átlátni és kezelni. Igaz ez a kérdés tudományos megközelítésére is: a természettudományos tudás alapvetően fontos az ökológiai problémák megértéséhez, de nem esetben tud választ adni arra a komplex jelenségre, ami okozója és következménye századunk környezeti kihívásainak. Ezért a hagyományos bölcsészettudományok a természet- és társadalomtudományokkal és a művészetekkel közös, interdiszciplináris formációba tömörülve igyekeznek megérteni a kortárs környezeti válságot, annak előzményeit, jelenlegi formáit és jövőbeli pályáit, illetve a lehetséges válaszokat.
A könyv, amit kezében tart az olvasó, a humán környezettudományi munkák, bevezetők és szöveggyűjtemények hagyományába kíván kapcsolódni, és azt a magyar közegre adaptálni. Jellegéből adódóan egy-egy téma átfogó ismertetését adja, olyanokét, mint a környezetfilozófia, a környezetantropológia, a természetművészet, a természetvédelem, a vallás és ökológia viszonya, a környezettörténeti, jogi, politikai és közgazdaságtani kérdések, a társadalmi igazságosság, a túlnépesedés vagy az élelmezés dilemmái. A kötet emellett magyarországi példákkal mutatja meg azokat a közösségi válaszokat, amelyek a kortárs ökológia- és társadalmi problémákra keresik a választ.

Environmental Humanities is the product of the 21st century, an age in which it is no longer possible to grasp and manage environmental problems from a single viewpoint. This is true of the scientific method as well. Although fundamentally important for the understanding of ecological issues and changes to the climate, scientific knowledge is not sufficient for providing an adequate answer to the complex phenomenon that is the cause and consequence of the environmental challenges of our century. This is why traditional humanities subjects such as philosophy, aesthetics, literary and religious studies, history, and linguistics have been combined with the natural and social sciences and the arts into an interdisciplinary formation in an attempt to understand the causes, current forms, and future trajectories of the contemporary environmental crisis, and to give possible answers to it.
This volume is intended to join a body of literature – introductions, textbooks – on Environmental Humanities, adapted to the Hungarian context. Due to its nature, it provides a comprehensive description of several topics, such as environmental philosophy, environmental anthropology, nature art, nature conservation, the relationship between religion and ecology, environmental history, legal, political, and economic issues, social justice, overpopulation, or food dilemmas. In addition, the volume shows community responses to contemporary ecological and social problems with examples from Hungary.
