A projekt keretében támogatott nemzetközi tudományos vagy innovációs rendezvény bemutatása: Mutassa be a szervezés alatt álló nemzetközi rendezvény jellegét, célját, programját, célcsoportját és jelentőségét a nemzetközi, illetve hazai tudományos élet szempontjából, utalva a rendezvényhez kapcsolódó nyílt előadásra is. A Japán-Magyar Diszkrét Matematika és Alkalmazásai Szimpóziumot 1999 óta kétévente rendezik meg, helyszíne felváltva mindig a két ország valamely egyetemi városa. Elsődleges célja a kombinatorika, algoritmusok, optimalizálás és alkalmazásai területén folyó kutatók számára szakmai fórum megteremtése, publikációik megjelentetése, továbbá a terület fiatal kutatóinak bevezetése a különféle együttműködésekbe. A terület kiemelt fontosságú mind a japán, mind a magyar kutatók számára, számtalan kapcsolódási ponttal. A résztvevők - jellemzően 80-100 fő - jelentős része ezen országokból kerül ki. A szimpózium azonban teljesen nyitott, nemzetközi, minden alkalommal több - elsősorban európai - országból érkeznek kutatók, doktoranduszok. A konferencia jelentősen járul hozzá a magyar tudományos élethez, nemzetközi kapcsolatokhoz. Legutóbbi budapesti rendezvénye kiemelt, Eötvös Tudományos Konferencia rangot kapott az ELTE-n. Jelen projekt célja a következő, Budapesten rendezendő 12. konferencia támogatása.
A projekt összefoglalója, célkitűzései laikusok számára Adjon egy rövid, közérthető ismertetést a szervezés alatt álló nemzetközi rendezvényről és annak várható eredményeiről, utalva a rendezvényhez kapcsolódó nyílt előadásra is. Presentation of the international scientific or innovation event supported in the project: Present the type, purpose, agenda, target audience of the international event organized and its sigificance in the international and domestic scientific community. Refer to the public lecture to be organised in connection with the event. The Japanese-Hungarian Symposium on Discrete Mathematics and its Applications has been organized in every second year since 1999, alternately in these two countries. The goal of this series is to provide a forum for researchers and students working in combinatorics, algorithms, optimization, and their applications where they can present their results and initiate joint research projects. These areas are particularly important for the Japanese and Hungarian community with numerous active collaborations. Participation from these countries are always substantial. However, the symposium is open and fully international, with 80-100 participants. Other countries, typically from Europe, are also represented. This series is a substantial contribution to the international collaborations of the Hungarian mathematics community. The last conference in Budapest was one of the prestigious Eötvös Scientific Conferences of Eötvös University. The goal of this project is to provide support for the next symposium, 12th in the series, to be held in Budapest in 2022.

A projekt célja a 12. Japán Magyar Diszkrét Matematika és Alkalmazásai Szimpózium megrendezése volt. Ez a konferencia az 1999-ben indult sorozatba illeszkedett, melynek keretében kétévente rendeznek hasonló szimpóziumot Japánban és Magyarországon felváltva. A 2023-as rendezvény helyszíne az ELTE Természettudományi Kara volt, időpontja március 21-24.
A rendezvény 92 regisztrált résztvevővel és 72 előadással jelentősen hozzájárult a japán-magyar tudományos kapcsolatok továbbfejlesztéséhez, erősítette a magyar kombinatorikus és diszkrét matematikai kutatócsoportok nemzetközi jelenlétét és előadási, publikálási lehetőséget biztosított számos fiatal kutatónak, doktorandusznak is.

The 12th Japanese Hungarian Symposium on Discrete Mathematics and Its Applications was held at the Faculty of Science, Eötvös University, between March 21-24, 2023. This series of conferences started in 1999, with biannual symposia organized alternatingly in Japan and Hungary. With 92 participants and 72 lectures the latest meeting had a substantial impact on the development of the
Japanese Hungarian scientific collaborations and contributed to the international visibility of the Hungarian research groups working in combinatorics and discrete mathematics. It also helped young researchers by providing an excellent opportunity to present and publish their recent results.
