A projekt keretében látogatni tervezett nemzetközi tudományos konferencia bemutatása és a tervezett részvétel ismertetése Mutassa be a nemzetközi rendezvény jellegét, célját, szervezőit és jelentőségét a nemzetközi tudományos életben. Ismertesse a részvétel célját (pl. előadás, poszter, egyéb aktivitás), a rendezvényen való részvétel várható hatását és jelentőségét a saját kutatói karrier építésében. A „Keystone Symposia: Cancer: Aging in the Driver's Seat” a rákkutatásnak egy speciális területére fókuszáló rendezvény: az öregedés (szeneszcencia) és a daganatos megbetegedések kapcsolatára koncentrál. Az öregedést ebben a kontextusban öregedő sejtek (szeneszcens sejtek) alatt értjük, melyeknek jelentős szerepe van a daganatos megbetegedések kialakulásában, sőt, a legújabb megközelítések szerint annak kiújulásában is. Kutatásom során én az utóbbival foglalkozom, miszerint a szeneszcens sejtek egy olyan túlélő populációt alkotnak a kemoterápiás kezelést követően, melyek hónapokkal vagy évekkel később döntő szerepet játszhatnak a daganat kiújulásában. A főszervezők egytől egyig a szeneszcencia és a rákkutatás kapcsolatának legelismertebb kutatói, akiknek a tudományos közleményeik a saját kutatásom alapjául is szolgálnak. Manuel Serrano munkatársaival egy olyan módszert tártak fel, mellyel az szeneszcens sejteket célzottan el lehet pusztítani. Ezt a kísérleteimben én is aktívan használom, így a legújabb eredmények megismerése jelentős segítséget nyújtana a PhD tanulmányaimban. A szakterület a rákkutatáson belül rendkívül nagy potenciállal rendelkezik és bár nemzetközi szinten egyre nagyobb teret kap a tumorbiológiában a szeneszcencia vizsgálata, addig a hazai tudományos életben még nincs aktívan jelen. Részvételemmel a legújabb kutatási eredmények megismerése mellett lehetőségem lenne kapcsolatépítésre, melynek célja a későbbiekben együttműködések, közös kutatások megalapozása. Ezzel szeretnénk elérni, hogy a hazai tudományos élet is aktív részévé váljon a szakterületnek, emellett a saját kutatói karrierem előrehaladásában is nagy segítséget nyújtana a résztvevő kutatókkal való személyes ismertség. Amennyiben a konferencia időpontjáig elkészül az elsőszerzős cikkem, akkor az eddigi eredményeimet poszter formájában fogom bemutatni, ellenkező esetben a résztvevőkkel való beszélgetések során ismertetném kutatásom.
A projekt összefoglalója, célkitűzései laikusok számára Adjon egy rövid, közérthető ismertetést a látogatni tervezett nemzetközi rendezvényről, illetve a részvétel céljáról, várható eredményeiről. A daganatos megbetegedések kockázata az életkor előrehaladtával egyre növekszik, melynek egyik fő oka a szervezet sejtjeinek öregedése. Az egyre öregedő sejtek életünk során számos károsodást szenvednek el, melyek bekövetkezhetnek mind külső tényezők (UV sugárzás, gyógyszeres kezelések stb.), mind a természetes öregedési folyamatok hatására. Az öregedő társadalmakban kiemelkedően fontosak a daganatos megbetegedések hatékonyabb megelőzésére fókuszáló kutatások, kutatásaim során én is ezzel a területtel foglalkozom. A „Keystone Symposia: Cancer: Aging in the Driver's Seat” konferencia az öregedés és a daganatos megbetegedések kapcsolatára fókuszál. A főszervezők egytől egyig a szakterület legelismertebb kutatói, akiknek a tudományos közleményeik a saját kutatásom alapjául is szolgálnak. A konferencián való részvételemmel a legújabb kutatási eredmények megismerése mellett lehetőségem lenne a szakma legelismertebb kutatóival kapcsolatot építeni, melynek célja a későbbiekben együttműködések, közös kutatási tevékenységek megalapozása. Ezzel szeretnénk elérni, hogy a hazai tudományos élet is aktív részévé váljon a szakterületnek, emellett a saját kutatói karrierem előrehaladásában is nagy segítséget nyújtana a résztvevőkkel való személyes ismertség.
Summary
Presentation of the international scientific conference to be visited in the project and description of the proposed participation Present the type, purpose, organizers, and significance of the international event in the scientific community. Present the purpose of the participation (e.g., paper, poster, other activity), the expected impact of the participation in the event and its significance in building your own research career. “Keystone Symposia: Cancer: Aging in the Driver’s Seat” is a conference focusing on a specific topic of cancer research: the connection between aging (senescence) and cancer. In this context, aging means aging cells (senescent cells) that play a significant role in the development of cancer and tumor relapse. In my research I’m focusing on senescent cancer cells that form a surviving population after chemotherapy. According to our theory these cells play a crucial role in tumor relapse months or years later. The organizers and speakers of the conference are word-leading experts on the topic of connection between senescence and cancer research, whose scientific work also serve as the basis for my own research. For example Manuel Serrano and his colleagues have discovered a method to eliminate senescent cells. I’m using this method in my projects, so learning about the latest results would be a significant improvement for my PhD studies. This field has an extremely high potential within cancer research, and although the study of senescence is more and more important in cancer research at the international level, it is not yet actively present in the Hungarian scientific community. With my participation I would have the opportunity to not only learn about the latest research results, but also build relationships with the leaders of senescence research, with the aim of establishing collaborations in the future. Through this conference we would like to involve the Hungarian scientific life an active part of the field, and personal acquaintance with the participating researchers would also be a great help in my research career. If my first author manustript is submitted by the time of the conference, I would like to present my results in the poster section. Otherwise I will disseminate my results through personal communications.
Summary and aims of the project for a general audience Provide a short, general introduction to the international event to be visited, the purpose of the participation, and its expected results. The risk of cancer increases with age, which is strongly connected to the aging of the body’s cells. Aging cells suffer a number of DNA damages during our lifetime, which can occur due to external factors like UV radiation, drug treatments, etc. and as the result of the natural aging process. In aging societies, research focusing on more effective cancer prevention gained great importance, therefore in my research I also focus on this topic. The “Keystone Symposia: Cancer: Aging in the Driver’s Seat” conference focuses on the connection between aging and cancer. The organizers and speakers of the conference are word-leading experts on the topic of connection between senescence and cancer research, whose scientific work also serve as the basis for my own research. As a participant I will have the opportunity to not only learn about the latest advancements, but also build relationships with the leaders of aging research, with the aim of establishing long term collaborations in the future. Through this conference we would like to involve the Hungarian scientific life an active part of the field, and personal acquaintance with the participating researchers would also be a great help in my research career.

A „Keystone Symposia : Cancer: Aging in the Driver's Seat” konferencián lehetőségem adódott a rákkutatás egy speciális területére fókuszáló rendezvényen részt venni, amely az öregedés (szeneszcencia) és a daganatos megbetegedések kapcsolatára koncentrál. A főszervezők és a résztvevők egytől egyig a szakterület legelismertebb kutatói voltak, akik a tumorbiológia egy olyan új oldalával foglalkoznak, amely nagy potenciállal rendelkezik a daganatos megbetegedések hatékonyabb megelőzésében. Részvételemmel a legújabb kutatási eredmények megismerése mellett lehetőségem adódott a szakterület kutatóival kapcsolatot építeni, és a személyes beszélgetésekkel és egymás kutatási témáinak részletesebb bemutatásával olyan ismeretségek születtek, melyek megalapozzák további együttműködések lehetőségét. Emellett lehetőségem adódott a szakterület egyik legelismertebb kutatójának, – és a rendezvény egyik főszervezőjének – Judith Campisinek is bemutatnom kutatási témám, és az ő általa kapott pozitív visszajelzés, illetve szakmai tanácsok jelentős segítséget nyújtanak a mai napig a PhD tanulmányaim során a további kutatásaim megtervezésében.

At the "Keystone Symposia: Cancer: Aging in the Driver's Seat" conference, I had the opportunity to participate in an event focusing on a special area of cancer research, which focuses on the relationship between aging (senescence) and cancer. The organizers and participants were one by one the best-known researchers in the field, who’s research is about tumor biology that has great potential for more effective prevention of cancer. With my participation, in addition to getting to know the latest research results, I had the opportunity to build relationship with researchers in the field, and through conversations and presentations of each other's research topics, the possibility of further collaborations were made. In addition, I had the opportunity to present my research topic to Judith Campisi, one of the most renowned researchers in the field, and one of the main organizers of the event, and the positive feedback and professional advice she gave have provided significant help in planning my further research during my PhD studies to this day.
