A kötet elkészítésénél szerkesztőbizottság, szerzők, szöveggondozó, tördelő, képszerkesztő, felvételező és lektor számára személyi költségeket (2 175 000 Ft és járulékai, összesen 2 512 000 Ft), dologi költséget (nyomdaköltség, 5 108 000 Ft), valamint általános költségeket (380 000 Ft) tervezett az MNL. A művet 320 oldalon, kb. 800 000 leütésszámú szöveggel és bőséges illusztrációval tervezték megjelentetni. A nemzet levéltára. Fejezetek az Országos Levéltár történetéből című kötet 2023. október 20-ára elkészült, annak sajtónyilvános bemutatója 2023. október 25-én volt. A kötetet az intézmény múzeumshopján kívül a nagy országos könyvterjesztő hálózatok (Libri, Líra) és kisebb forgalmazók árusítják. A kötet minden paraméterében meghaladja az eredeti terveket: • összterjedelme 592 oldal (320 oldal helyett), • a szöveg terjedelme közel 1,5 millió leütés (800 000 helyett), • 900 helyett 2000 példányban készült, • 32 szerző és további közreműködők írták a szövegeket és készítették a felvételeket, • 777 különféle illusztráció került a szöveg közé (az MNL anyagán kívül 15 intézmény és 3 magánszemély gyűjteményéből). A költségek csökkentése érdekében formális szerkesztőbizottsági munkára nem került sor, a kötetnek szerkesztője (Reisz T. Csaba), olvasószerkesztője (Kulcsár Krisztina) és lektora (Ress Imre).
A támogatás 8 000 000 Ft feletti költségeit az MNL saját költségvetéséből biztosította.

During the preparation of the volume, the National Archives of Hungary (NAH) planned personnel costs (2,175 m HUF) for the editorial committee, authors, text editor, typesetter, image editor, photographer, and proofreader, as well as material costs (printing cost, 5,108 m HUF), and general expenses (0,38 m HUF). The work was intended to be published in 320 pages, with approximately 800,000 characters and abundant illustrations.
The volume titled Chapters from the History of the NAH was completed by October 20, 2023, with its press-public presentation on Oct 25, 2023. Apart from the museum shop of the institution, the volume is also sold by major national book distribution networks (Libri, Líra) and smaller distributors. The volume exceeds all original plans in every parameter: • its overall length is 592 pages (instead of 320), • the text comprises nearly 1.5 m characters (instead of 800,000), • it was produced in 2,000 copies instead of the planned 900, • 32 authors and additional contributors wrote the texts and provided the images, • 777 different illustrations were included in the text (aside from the NAH's material, sourced from collections of 15 institutions and 3 private individuals). To reduce costs, no formal editorial committee work was carried out; instead, the volume had an editor (T. Csaba Reisz), a reader/editor (Krisztina Kulcsár), and a proofreader (Imre Ress). NAH covered the support costs exceeding 8 m HUF from its own budget.
