A kutatás során hat különböző talajművelési rendszer hatását vizsgáltuk a talaj fizikai állapotára, hő- és nedvességforgalmára. Talajfizikai adatbázist építettünk fel a talajhidrológiai függvények tér- és időbeni változékonyságának tanulmányozása céljából. Két eltérő elvre épülő becslési eljárást teszteltünk a víztartó-görbe szezonális dinamikájának leírása céljából. Megállapítottuk, hogy térfogattömeg meghatározására épülő eljárás alkalmazhatósága függ az adott termőhely talajtani adottságaitól. A talaj természetes visszaülepedését a talajfelszínre érkező csapadékösszeg függvényében leíró módszert úgy célszerű továbbfejleszteni, hogy a módszer a csapadék intenzitását is figyelembe tudja venni. Monitoring rendszert építettünk ki és üzemeltettünk a talaj nedvességforgalmának vizsgálata céljából. Elvégeztük két szimulációs modell adaptációját a józsefmajori kísérleti területre. A talaj nedvességforgalmának modellezése során megállapítottuk, hogy a talajhidrológiai függvények szezonális változékonyságának figyelembe vételével az esetek többségében csökkent a különbség a mért és a szimulált talajnedvesség-értékek között. Az eljárás alkalmazásával lehetőség nyílik az időben változó talajtulajdonságokkal jellemezhető művelt talajok vízforgalmának becslésére és értékelésére. Vizsgálataink során arra a következtetésre jutottunk, hogy a talajadottságokhoz megfelelően alkalmazkodó lazító és mulcshagyó művelési rendszerek hozzájárultak a talajnedvesség veszteség csökkentéséhez.

The influence of six different soil tillage systems on soil physical conditions and on soil heat and water regimes was examined. The time and spatial variability of soil hydraulic properties was studied based on a constructed soil physical dataset. Two different approaches to estimate the seasonal variability of soil water retention curve were compared. We concluded that the applicability of the estimation method based on the seasonal variability of soil bulk density depends on the soil conditions of the study area. The second approach was based on the description of soil consolidation as a function of cumulative rainfall. It was found, that this approach needs further evaluation to account for rainfall intensity. A complex monitoring system was set up to study the soil heat and water regimes in different soil tillage systems. Two simulation models were adapted to the Józsefmajor study area. We found, that taking into account the seasonal variability of soil hydraulic properties improved the simulation of the soil water content dynamics in most of the cases. Thus, more precise estimation of soil water balance elements of tilled soils can be performed. We also concluded that appropriate soil tillage systems that are combined with mulching and ensure soil loosening could reliably decrease water losses from the soil. From this aspect ploughing, deep loosening and deeper cultivator treatments created the most favourable for the plants soil conditions.
