A földrajzi nevek gyűjtésének, adattárba rendezésének, majd közzétételének, így a Csornai járáséinak is, eredménye olyan, mára nagyrészt feledésbe merült vagy folyamatosan feledésbe merülő földrajzinév-anyag rendszerezett rögzítése, amely sokszor több száz éves nyelvi adatokat őriz meg és tesz hozzáférhetővé a kutatás számára. A nevek tudományosan ellenőrzött és rendszerezett formában forrásként szolgálhatnak a nyelvtudományban elsősorban a nyelvtörténet, a nyelvjárástörténet, a névtörténet számára, de felhasználhatja őket a településtörténet, helytörténet és kultúrtörténet is.
A nyelvi anyag sajátsága, hogy a 60-as években még élő neveket (nem szigorú) fonetikai lejegyzéssel adja meg, s feltünteti a népi nevek mellett a hivatalos/ak/at, sőt a 19–20. század néhány hivatalos térképén meglevő megfelelőiket is.

The collection, organization in reference books then publication of the toponymes, so the Csorna district’s, result is a systematized laying of a mainly felt into or continuously fall into oblivion toponyme material, which keeps and open up many times centuries old linguistic datas for the research. The names can serve as a source in a scientifically supervised and systematized form mainly for the history of language, the history of dialect and the history of names, but can use the history of settlement, the regional history and the cultural history as well.
The feature of the linguistic material is that gives the names, which were living still in the 60s with (a not exact) phonetic notes, and indicates beside the popular names the officials as well, moreover the accordiances with the names in several official maps from the 19th-20th century.
