Az MTA Zenetudományi Intézet 1997 óta folytatja a középkori kódexek digitalizálásának programját. Ennek eredményeképpen mára több mint 170 forrás áll digitális formában a kutatók rendelkezésére, köztük a középkori magyar források legjava. E digitális gyűjtemény a kódexek összehasonlításán alapuló kutatásnak ugrásszerű lendületet adott az utóbbi években. Ez arra ösztönöz, hogy jelentősen szélesítsük a kutatható a digitálizált források körét. Bár az intézet mikrofilm-állománya nagyszámú külföldi összehasonlító forrást tartalmaz, ezek köre mégiscsak behatárolt. Az átfogó forráskutatás a jelenlegi módszertani fejleményekkel összefüggésben nem annyira ennek további bővítését indokolja, mint inkább a digitális források használatát, beszerzését, kölcsönös hozzáférhetővé tételét, stb. Ezért merült föl a jelen elképzelés, amely arra irányul, hogy: 1) feltérképezze a digitalizált forrásokra utaló és/vagy digitális képanyagot bemutató internetes helyeket; 2) emellett információt gyűjtsön és nyilvántartást készítsen a különböző országokban már digitalizált kéziratokról; 3) kiegészítse ezekkel az intézet folyamatosan bővülő saját gyűjteményét; 4) rakja le egy olyan Internetes adatbázis alapjait, amely – minimális célként – a digitális források tudományos szempontból is értékelhető, s azok elérhetőségére vonatkozó információkat is tartalmazó nyilvántartása, optimális esetben pedig a források képanyagát is megjeleníteni képes rendszer a tudományág regisztrált képviselői számára.
Summary
Work on the digitization of medieval manuscripts began at the Institute for Musicology in 1998. By now more than 170 complete manuscript have been digitized (among them the core of the Hungarian medieval heritage) and made available for scholarship. This digital collection proved to be an important stimulus and aid for studies based on a comparison of sources. This experience leads us to extend the circle of digitized manuscripts and make them available for studying. Though the microfilm collection of the institute contains a great number of foreign comparative sources, they represent only a small portion of the European medieval heritage. In accordance with the modern technical conditions and methodological developments we should prefer the digitization of the sources instead of expanding film-collection alone. For this reason the present plan is directed towards the followings: a) collect information on internet locations where images of sources or references to them are available; b) develop an inventory of medieval manuscripts digitized in Hungary or elsewhere so far; c) make an effort to get, buy them and integrate them to our own collection; d) develop a web-based database that would be, at minimum, a catalogue of the digitized manuscripts, containing complete codicological and musicological information and references as to their accessibility; e) in optimal case, the database system could be extended to contain the contents of the catalogued manuscripts as well.

A pályázat súlypontját az interneten közvetlenül elérhető digitalizált középkori források összegyűjtése és elektronikus nyilvántartása képezte. Szisztematikus monitoring eredményeként kb. 1500 közvetlenül kutatható forrás adatait és elérési lehetőségét gyűjtöttük össze. A hivatkozásokat nyilvántartási rendszerbe illesztettük, amely az elérhetőségen kívül a forrás jellegére, tartalmára vonatkozó adatokat is tartalmaz (kódextípus, kor, lelőhely, származási hely stb.). A forrásadatbázis kiegészítéseként elkészítettük a forrásokat tartalmazó honlapok és más, középkori forrásokkal, azok digitalizálásával kapcsolatos internetes kezdeményezések katalógusát. A két katalógust hozzáférhetővé tettük az interneten, s ehhez összetett, több részből álló, keresőrendszerrel ellátott alkalmazást készítettünk.
Az online katalógus bővítését egészítette ki saját digitalizáló programunk.A ZTI középkori filmgyűjteményéből évente 50 forrást digitalizáltunk, ennek megfelelően a jelen pályázat kezdete, 2006 eleje óta kb. 300 kódex feldolgozása készült el, amelyek áttekinthetők honlapunkon.
A digitalizált miseforrások használata és összehasonlítása érdekében a liturgikus keretek állandóságán alapuló szisztémát dolgoztunk ki tartalmuk egységes rögzítésére. Ehhez kapcsolódóan olyan internetes felületet hoztunk létre, amely a források tartalmát összehasonlítani képes, s ugyanakkor digitális képanyagukat is tartalmazza. A pályázat futamideje alatt körülbelül 25 forrásindex készült el.

The main target of the plan was to collect and inventory the digitized medieval sources accessible online. Resulting from systhematic monitoring we have collected information about and links to around 1500 sources available for scholars. The links have been put in a database, which also contains other information about the sources, e.g. type, age, provenance, content, etc. As a supplement to the inventory of sources, we prepared another database collecting information about the ‘container’ page of the links and other homepages directed towards medieval sources and matters of digitization. In order to publish both catalogues on the internet we developed a complex internet application supplied with search facilities.
The inventorying of accessible digitized sources was supplemented by the digitization of our own sources on microfilm. We digitized 50 sources in every year, since 2006, the beginning of the present project, around 300 altogether. These sources can be reviewed on our homepage.
In order to facilitate the use and comparison of the digitized sources for the mass we worked out a system for inventorying their content in a standardized manner. Related to this, we prepared an internet application that makes possible to compare the sources with each other while also makes their digital images accessible. During the project around 25 sources from Central Europe have been scrutinized in this way.
