Az Európai Kormányzás kérdésköre vált az EU-ban az egyik legfontosabb kutatási témává, mivel minden tagországot közvetlenül érinti az a kérdés, hogy egyrészt hogyan működik az új EU25, másrészt hogyan lehet az új körülmények között a nemzeti érdekeket érvényesíteni és EU stratégiát kidolgozni. Ezeket a kérdések az EU intézményeit is nagyon foglalkoztatják, mivel az érdekli őket, hogyan lehetne ezt a működést hatékonyabbá tenni. Az „Együtt Európáért” kutatócsoport két FP6-os EU projektben vesz részt, a kutatócsoport vezetője mindkét projekt irányító testületének tagja. Az egyik projekt az EU belső működésének kérdéseivel, a másik projekt pedig az EU globális versenyképességével foglalkozik. Kiegészítő források révén lehetségessé válna a projekt magyar résztvevői számára a teljes bekapcsolódás a két nemzetközi projektbe a konferenciák gyakoribb látogatása, nemzetközi konferenciák hazai megrendezése és az Európai Kormányzásról szóló újabb angol nyelvű könyvek megjelentetése révén.
Summary
European governance has become one of the most important research field nowadays, as all member states are concerned about the working of the EU25 on the one hand, and about how effective strategies may be elaborated so that they best serve the national interests on the other. The institutions of the EU are also interested in researching these issues as they constantly try to make their operations more efficient. The “Together for Europe” Research Centre is involved in two FP6 projects, and the director of the Centre is a member of the steering group in both projects. “EU CONSENT” deals with the internal operation of the EU, while “GARNET” focuses on the competitiveness of the EU on a global level. With the help of the additional resources, the Hungarian participants of the projects could become fully integrated in the international research and dissemination activities by visiting international conferences, holding conferences in Hungary and by publishing English language books on European governance.

A keleti kibővítés kettős kihívást eredményezett, egyrészt az Unió egésze maga is intézményi válságba került az „alkotmányozási” folyamatban, másrészt az új tagállamoknak jelentős intézményi reformokat kellett végrehajtaniuk az Unión belül. Mindkét folyamatban a lényeg a kormányzat-kormányzás kategóriáiban ragadható meg, ami a többszintű kormányzás kiterjesztéséhez vezetett. A mélyítés és bővítés kettős feladatával egyúttal megjelent az Európai Kormányzás kiterjesztése a szomszédokra, mi jelentős részben már a következő évek feladata.
A kutatás időtartalma alatt a kutatói állomány változatlan maradt. A kutatás idején tartalmilag nagyobb hangsúly került a magyar uniós elnökség előkészítésére, mivel elindult az első csoportos elnökség és meghatározásra került a magyar uniós elnökség időpontja is.

The Eastern enlargement produced a double challenge, namely the EU itself was in an institutional crisis due to the “constitutionalization” process and the new member states had to perform basic reforms in the EU framework. Both processes can be conceptualized in the government-governance terms that led to the extension of the multilevel governance. With the dual task of deepening and widening the extension of the European Governance also appeared that would be, however, already the task of the next years.
The research staff during the project period remained unchanged. During the project the preparation of the Hungarian EU presidency received more emphasis, since the first team presidency began and the timing of the Hungarian team presidency was also decided.
