Munkánk célja röntgenkrisztallográfiában nem vizsgálható ásványok és azok izomorf helyettesítései rendeződésének szerkezetvizsgálata valamint a kísérleti tapasztalatok birtokában az elektronkrisztallográfia bevezetése az egyetemi oktatásba. Munkánkban alkalmazni tervezzük az elektrondiffrakciós méréseken alapuló egykristály szerkezetmeghatározást (Dorset, 1995) és a nem-egykristályok jellemzésére is alkalmas kristálytani HRTEM-képfeldolgozást (crystallographic image processing, CRISP) (Hovmöller, 1992).
A vizsgálni tervezett anyagokat és kristálytani jelenségeket a hazai és nemzetközi érdeklődést, vagyis az eredmények várható publikálhatóságát is figyelembevéve válogattuk. A rétegközi kationhiányos csillám csoport ásványai konvencionális technikákkal nehezen megközelíthetők. A szakirodalomban már világosan megfogalmazott kristályszerkezeti kérdések (Drits, 2003) várnak válaszra és ez az ásványcsoport optimálisnak igérkezik az elektronkrisztallográfia alkalmazására. A füzérradványi illit és az úrkúti glaukonit-szeladonit elektrondiffrakciós egykristály szerkezetvizsgálatát tervezzük. A pordiffrakciós módszerekben bevezetett Rietveld-analízist elektrondiffrakciós adatokkal (Weirich et al., 2000) szmektit mintán (célszerűen a Wy2 nemzetközi standardon) tervezzük alkalmazni. Korábbi aktivitásunk folytatásaként az antigorit kristályszerkezetét az elektronkrisztallográfia független módszerével is finomítani tervezzük. Izomorf elegysorok helyettesítő kationjainak rendeződését atomi felbontással glaukonit-szeladoniton és pirop-almandinon tervezzük vizsgálni.

Summary
The goals of this project are to apply electroncrystallography in structural study of nanosized minerals (namely: illite, celadonite and antigorite) and measure cation ordering in solid solutions formed by isomorphous substititutions (pyrope and celadonite). Introducing electron crystallography to university curriculums is also a subject of our efforts.

Az elektronkrisztallográfia bevezetése az MSc és PhD képzésbe. Sikeres PhD értekezés az elektronkrisztallográfia alkalmazására nanokristályok szerkezetvizsgálatára. Kaolinit kristályszerkezetének első meghatározása egykristály elektrondiffrakcióval. A geometriai fázis elemzés alkalmazása kristályrács deformációk meghatározására. Szöveti elemzés TiN-en nm-es fölbontással. A precessziós elektrondiffrakció és elektron tomográfia alkalmazása a fémötvözeteken, a kémiai rendeződés meghatározására.

Introduction of curriculum of electron crystallography to the tuition on the MSc and PhD levels. Successful PhD defense on the applications of electron crystallography to structural study of nanocrystals. First structure determination of kaolinite using single crystal electron diffraction. Application of geometric phase analysis for determination of deformations in crystals. Textural studies on TiN with nm resolution. Applications of precession electron diffraction and electron tomography on alloys, and determination of chemical ordering.
