A több mint két évtizede megkezdett egyiptomi magyar ásatások folytatása a thébai elittemetők két nagyobb körzetében (El-Khokha, Sheikh Abd el-Qurna), és a feltárásokkal kapcsolatos kutatások, melyek az ókori Egyiptom történetének minden főbb korszakát érintik, a szakrális építészet építészettörténeti kutatásával, a sírművészet tematikus, ikonográfiai és technikai vizsgálatával, a halotti szövegek vallástörténeti, tartalmi, filológiai, hagyománytörténeti szempontú megközelítésével.

A két nagyobb temetőkörzet négy kiemelt szektorának feltárása lehetővé teszi nemcsak az egyes objektumok vizsgálatát, hanem a temetőelemzés tágabb aspektusából történő megközelítését, és az összehasonlító vizsgálatokat is.

A kutatás a következő sírok kultuszhelyek és körzetük feltárását, feldolgozását és publikálását tervezi: TT 32 (Dzsehutimesz, 19. dinasztia, leletfeldolgozás, publikáció), TT 65 (Nebamun/Imiszeba, 18/20. dinasztia, feltárás folytatása), TT 184 (Nefermenu, 19. dinasztia, feltárás folytatása), TT 185 (Szenioker, Óbirodalom, új feltárás), -59- (Bakenamun, leletfeldolgozás), -61- (Amenhotep), továbbá: TT 66, TT 67, TT 204, TT 205, TT 206, -7-, -8-, -24-, -43-, -44-, -60-, -343-, -344-, -400- (Újbirodalom), Szaff 1. és Szaff 2. (Középbirodalom),
A feltárások mellett az egyiptomi régészeti hatóságok engedélyével további sírok is bevonhatók az összehasonlító vizsgálatba: TT 23 (Tjai), TT 264 (Ipij), TT 370 (Neb-seni).

Egyes sziklasírokat korábbiak átalakításával dolgoztak ki, legtöbbjüket másodlagosan is felhasználták temetkezésre, elsősorban a Harmadik Átmeneti és a Késői Korban, de egészen a későantik korig követhető a temetőkörzetek használata, sőt az egyik körzetben kopt monostor települt, mely a temető eredeti objektumainak más célú, eddig alig ismert újrafelhasználását alakította ki.
Summary
The project’s aim is the continuation of the more than two decade long fieldwork of the Hungarian Mission in two areas of the Theban elite necropolis (El-Khokha, Sheikh Abd el-Qurna) and associated research that relates to all major historic periods of ancient Egypt and which includes the study of sacred architecture, that of the artistic, religious and technical aspects of elite burials, as well as the religio-historical and philological analyses of mortuary literature.

A diachronic framework presented by the research of four study areas in two larger sections of the cemetery allows for not only the study of individual tombs, but also a better understanding of and a broader perspective on the development of the necropolis and the changes in mortuary customs.

The following tomb chapels, cult-places and precincts are projected to be excavated, studied, and published: TT 32 (Djehutimes, 19th Dynasty, study of finds, publication), TT 65 (Nebamun/Imiseba, 18/20th Dynasty, excavation), TT 184 (Nefermenu, 19th Dynasty, excavation), TT 185 (Senioker, Old Kingdom, new excavation), -59- (Bakenamun, study of finds), -61- (Amenhotep, study of finds), moreover: TT 66, TT 67, TT 204, TT 205, TT 206, -7-, -8-, -24-, -43-, -44-, -60-, -343-, -344-, -400- (New Kingdom), Saff 1. and Saff 2. (Middle Kingdom).
With the consent of the Egyptian authorities it will also become possible to expand our field of study to include further monuments, namely TT 23 (Tjay), TT 264 (Ipiy), TT 370 (Nebseni).

Of the rock-cut tombs some were created by modifying earlier ones, while most of them also served as secondary burial places, especially during the III. Intermediate and Late Periods. The continuous use of the two study areas can be traced through to the Late Antique period, most clearly on Sheikh Abd el-Gurna, where a monastic community was established (‘Monastery of Cyriacus’) at the time.

TT 65 Projekt: TT 65: A sír díszítetlen, „lejtős folyosójának” és sírkamrájának feltárása. A falfestmények restaurátori munkálatainak megkezdése, ill. epigráfiai dokumentációjuk folytatása. Shaft ‘4’: Az újonnan felfedezett aknasír feltárása, a leletek közül a komoly tudományos értékkel bíró textilleletek konzerválása kezdődött meg. Saff 1: Az eddigi kutatás számára ismeretlen új szaff-sír és egy a 20. század eleje óta feledésbemerült sír (’Mond-tomb’) feltárásainak megkezdése. TT 184 Projekt: Feltárás a Khokha domb déli lejtőjének felső szakaszában – a TT 184, 185, 204, 205, „206”, 412, 413, (Kampp) -41-, -42-, -43- sírok kutatása, feltárása. Újonnan felfedezett sírok és díszített építmények feltárása, részleges helyreállítása: Saff-1 (Középbirodalom), festett vályogtégla-szentély (18. dinasztia). A TT 184 és TT 185 (Szeni-iqer, Óbirodalom) előudvarai fölötti modern ház elbontása, az előudvarok feltárása, a temető legrégebbi, óbirodalmi sírjainak kontextus-elemzése. TT -400- Projekt: TT -61-: 2008-ban az összes diagnosztikus leletről rajz- és fotódokumentáció készült. Az anyag publikációra való előkészítése folyamatban van. TT 32: Kiegészítő ásatás a sír előudvarának keleti oldala mentén. TT -64-: A sírakna ásatásának befejezése 2009-ben. TT 179: A sír faliképeinek fotó- és epigráfiai dokumentációja 2010-ben megkezdődött. TT -400-: A sír előudvarának, kultuszkápolnáinak, és „lejtős folyosójának” feltárása. A keresztterem faliképeinek epigráfiai dokumentációja elkészült.

TT 65 Project: TT 65: Excavation of the sloping passage and burial chamber. Commencing conservation work on the wall-paintings, while continuing their epigraphic documentation. Shaft ‘4’: Excavation of the newly discovered shaft tomb. Ongoing conservation of the textile finds. Saff 1: Initiating excavation in the forecourts of the newly found tomb and that of an adjoining tomb rediscovered since its loss since the early 20th cent (’Mond-tomb’). TT 184 Project: Research and excavation of TT 184, 185, 204, 205, „206”, 412, 413, (Kampp) -41-, -42-, -43-. Further monuments exposed, excavated and partly reconstructed: Saff-1 (Middle Kingdom); painted mud brick mortuary chapel. The modern building above the forecourts of TT 184 and TT 185 (Seny-iqer, Old Kingdom) was pulled down and the debris cleared away. Excavation of the forecourts and the latter monument with the context analysis of the Old Kingdom monuments of the necropolis. TT -400- Project: TT -61-: In 2008 all diagnostic finds were documented, drawn and photographed. The publication is under preparation. TT 32: A small-scale clearing was launched east of the forecourt of TT 32. TT -64-: The excavation of its burial shaft was completed in 2009. TT 179: The photographic and epigraphic documentation of the murals began in 2010. TT -400-: The forecourt, cult chapels, and the sloping passage of TT -400- were excavated. The epigraphic documentation of the murals in the transverse hall has also been completed.
