Nagy számú 13-15 századi, magyar szentekre vonatkozó olasz nyelvű kéziratot őriznek olasz könyvtárak, melyek jelentős része ismeretlen a kutatók előtt. E kéziratok rendszerezése, katalogizálása és közreadása fontos alapkutatás, mely nem csupán az irodalom- és vallástörténet számára, hanem általában a hungarika-kutatás szempontjából is új eredményekhez vezethet. A téma egyben az olasz-magyar kapcsolatok történetének egy fontos aspektusa is, s eredményei az egyetemi oktatásban is felhasználhatóak. A forrásfeltárás és közreadás a későbbi kutatók munkáját is megkönnyítheti. E kultuszok kapcsán képet alkothatunk arról, mit jelentett a késő-középkori olasz közönség számára a magyar származás, milyen kép élt hazánkról a korabeli műfajok (legendák, exemplumok, csodák, sacra rappresentazionék) alapján. Metodológiailag egyrészt filológiai kutatást végzek: kéziratok feltárása, kézirat-katalógus, szövegek illetve szövegrészletek átírása, a variánsok összehasonlítása, szöveg-, és motívum elemzés, másrészt irodalmi-hagiográfiai elemzéssel élnék: az egyes motívumok, attribútumok, szöveghagyományok elterjedését, változását, egymásra hatását, keveredését vizsgálom, tágabb kontextusban (latin források, más népnyelvű párhuzamok komparatív bemutatása) is. A kutatómunka eredményeképpen egy monográfiát kívánok megírni, és kiadásra előkészíteni, mely: 1) 150 oldal kézirat-katalógus, szövegkiadás, stemmák és fordítás, 2) 200-250 oldal tanulmányból áll. Két nemzetközi konferencia előadáson, és legalább két tudományos közlemény formájában ismertetem a kutatás eredményeit.
Summary
The Italian libraries conserve many manuscripts written in Italian vernaculars and with reference to Hungarian saints. A part of these sources is unknown to the scholarship of the topic. I intend to collect them in a systematic way in order to make a catalogue of this corpus, and to publish it. This research is important not only from the viewpoint of literary and religious history, but also for the research of the Hungarica generally speaking. It also constitutes a relevant aspect of the history of Italo-Hungarian relations, and the results of the study can be used also in undergraduate teaching. The collection and publication of these sources can help the work of future scholars. On the basis of these sources one can understand how the late-medieval audience thought about Hungarian provenience, how did Italian people see and represent the Hungarians in these genres (legends, exempla, miracles, sacra rappresentazione). I use a double methodology: on the one hand a philological research, ie. manuscript-research, catalogue, transcription of texts and comparison of variants, motif- and textual analysis; on the other a literary-hagiographic analysis of the diffusion, modification, interaction and mixture of motifs, attributes and textual traditions, also in a wider context (in comparison with Latin sources and other vernacular parallels). As a result of this research project I intend to write and prepare for publication a monograph, which would contain: 1) 150 pages of catalogue of MSS., text-editions, stemmas and translation 2) a 200-250 pages long study. I will present my results in two international conferences and at least in two scholarly articles.

A kutatás során a kitűzött célkitűzéseket legnagyobb részt sikerült megvalósítani. A kutatómunka során sikerült átfogó módon feltárni a 13-15. századi olasz hagiográfiai kéziratok magyar vonatkozásait, és az összegyűjtött anyagot sikerült szerves formában feldolgozni is. Az egyéves engedélyezett hosszabbítás részben technikai okok miatt, részben új, esettanulmányok bevonása miatt vált szükségessé.
A kutatási időszak alatt a kutatási tervben megfogalmazottnál lényegesen több, összesen 16 publikációm jelent meg, ebből 8 kifejezetten az OTKA támogatásával. Valamint 5 hazai és 8 külföldi konferencián ismertettem kutatási eredményeimet (a vállalt 3-4-hez képest).
A kutatás során több külföldi és belföldi kutatóutat valósítottam meg, amelyek során a 21 könyvtárban tanulmányoztam az ott őrzött magyar szentekre vonatkozó kéziratokat, és számos szakértővel konzultáltam.
A megígért monográfia is elkészült (magyar nyelven, részletes olasz összefoglalóval), és noha a munkatervben csak a kézirat előkészítését ígértem, végül sikerült a kéziratot könyv formájában (nyomtatásban és Open access digitális formában is) meg is jelentetni (Magyar dinasztikus szentek olasz kódexekben - Santi ungheresi dinastici in codici itaiani, Bp., ELTE BTK, 2012, pp. 268, http://olasz.elte.hu/files/falvay/magyar_szentek.pdf ).

During the research period I could realize he main objectives formulated in the reseach plan. I investigated in a complex manner the Hungarian connections of the 13-15-century Italian hagiographic manuscripts, and I could elaborate in an organic way he collected source-material. The extension of 1 year of he project was motivated by tecnical issues and partly because of the inclusion of new case-studies.
During the research period I published much more than it was planned, in total I have produced 16 publications (out of them 8 with the direct support of the OKTA). Furthermore I shared the results of my research in 5 conferences in Hungary and 8 abroad (instead of the 3-4 conferences planed).
During the research period I effectuated several research trips in Hungary and abroad, in which I could consult the Italian manuscripts of non less then 21 libraries, and I consulted several experts.
Finally I wrote also he planned monograph (in Hungarian with a long Italian abstract), and it has been published also as a printed book and digitally wih open access (Magyar dinasztikus szentek olasz kódexekben - Santi ungheresi dinastici in codici itaiani, Bp., ELTE BTK, 2012, pp. 268, http://olasz.elte.hu/files/falvay/magyar_szentek.pdf ).
