A kötet 12 fejezetet tartalmaz a magyarországi neolatin irodalom, tudománytörténet és irodalomelmélet 16-18. századi történetéről. Összegyűjtésüket és kiadásukat a neolatin irodalmi hagyomány eddig figyelmen kívül hagyott területeinek, forrásainak középpontba állítása és a komparatív szemlélet következetes alkalmazása indokolja. A kötet fő célja, hogy a magyarországi neolatin irodalom majdan elkészítendő monográfiájának előmunkálataként hozzájáruljon a neolatin irodalmiság összképéhez, s megvilágítsa ennek az irodalomnak eddig rejtett kapcsolatait az anyanyelvű irodalommal. A fejezetek középpontjában főként olyan, rendszerint mára elfeledett művek és irodalmi folyamatok állnak, amelyek részét alkotják az adott korszak irodalomszemléletének, s amelyek ismerete nem nélkülözhető sem az Európával való kapcsolattartás, sem pedig az anyanyelvű irodalom megértéséhez. A fejezetek külön figyelmet fordítanak a neolatin filológia és az irodalomtörténet-írás előfutárainak tevékenységére, kapcsolattörténeti vonatkozásokra, a historia litteraria-modell magyarországi alkalmazására, a retorikai, irodalom- és nyelvelméleti művek használati összefüggéseire, az imitáció, fordítás és adaptáció kérdéseire, a humanista történeti irodalom 18. századi recepciójára, valamint a latin nyelvű iskoladráma szerepére a történeti toposzok nemzetközi közvetítésében.
Summary
The book contains 12 chapters on the 16th-18th century history of Neolatin literature, history of science and literary criticism in Hungary. The chapters concentrate on sources and fields in Neolatin literary tradition which were less examined in Hungary. The main goal of the book is to contribute to a future monograph on Neolatin literature and it's hidden relations with the vernacular literature. The chapters concentrate on literary works and processes which form part of the literary theory of the period and are indispensable to the comprehension of the contacts with Europe as well as with that of the vernacular literature. Special attention is payed to the works of the predecessors of Neolatin philology and literary history; to comparative aspects; to the adaptation of the model of historia litteraria in Hungary; to the functions of rethorical, poetical and critical works; to the questions of imitation, translation and adaptation; to the reception of the humanist historiographical literature in the 18th century; and to the role of the school theatre in the international transmitting of historical topoi.

A "Sedes Musarum: Neolatin irodalom, tudománytörténet és irodalomelmélet a kora újkori Magyarországon" című szerzői tanulmánykötetet a Debreceni Egyetem kiadója megfelelő nyomdai minőségben, a szerzőkkel történt szoros együttműködésben, a kellő határidőre elkészítette. A kötet az alcímben megjelölt témakörben három nagy részre, azon belül tizenkét fejezetre tagolódik. A kiadóval az együttműködés professzionális módon, súrlódásmentesen és igen előzékenyen zajlott a munka kezdetétől a befejezésig és a névmutató elkészítéséig.

The book, written by Éva Knapp and Gábor Tüskés, under the title "Sedes Musarum: Neo-latin literature, history of science and theory of literature in Hungary in the Early Modern Ages" was published by the press of the University Debrecen in excellent quality, in tight cooperation with the authors and in time. The book is divided in three main parts, within that in 12 chapters. The cooperation with the editor was professional and very polite from the beginning of the work to the end including the making of an index.
