Az Iparművészeti Múzeum habán kerámiagyűjteménye a hazai, csehországi, a szlovák és az erdélyi emlékanyagok között feltehetően mind számban, mind kvalitásban az egyik legjelentősebb együttest, közel háromszáz korai, a 16. században, a 17. század első felében készült habán kerámiát, és több mint háromszáz ún. poszthabán tárgyat őriz, valamint kályhát és kályhacsempéket. A 2007-ben bemutatott, Habán mítosz c. magángyűjtők által kezdeményezett, saját gyűjteményeikben lévő habán műtárgyakból rendezett kiállítás hívta fel a figyelmet arra, hogy a múzeumi gyűjtemény eddigi feldolgozásai roppant elavultak. A magyar kerámiatörténet - amelynek korai, fontos fejezete éppen a habán kerámia – rendszerezett feldolgozásához, elmélyült alapkutatásra, sőt kutatássorozatra lesz szükség. A magyar muzeológiának kötelessége közzé tenni kollekcióját catalogue raisonné formájában. A kutatás a speciális művészettörténeti módszerek mellett, új technikai-technológiai, tudományos apparátussal bővül. Az autopszián alapuló vizsgálatok várhatóan komplex válaszokat adnak az emlékanyaggal kapcsolatban felmerülő alapkérdésekre. Az intézmény a Magyar Nemzeti Múzeummal és a MTA Geokémiai Kutatóintézetével közösen, konzorciális pályázat keretében a magyarországi köz- és magángyűjteményekben fellelhető habán kerámiák (16. század végétől a 18. század közepéig) – várhatóan mintegy 1600 tétel – számítógépes adatbázisának elkészítését tűzte ki céljául.
Summary
The collection of Haban pottery at the Museum of Applied Arts is likely the largest and most significant such collection in all of Hungary and the neighbouring countries (Romania, Slovakia and Czech Republic). The collection consists of about 300 Haban ceramics from the 16th and early 17th century, and of an additional 300 so-called post-Haban objects, as well as stove-tiles and complete stoves. The exhibition Haban myth, which was showed at the Museum in 2007 and surveyed Haban objects in private collections, shed light to the fact that research on the museum’s collection is largely outdated. For a modern survey of the history of Hungarian ceramics – an important early chapter of which is Haban ceramics – new basic research, in fact a coordinated research programme will be needed. One of the tasks of museum curators in Hungary is to make their collections available in the form of catalogue raisonné volumes. Research means not only traditional art historical research, but a complete set of technical and scientific examinations. Research that is based on autopsy can likely answer several questions which have been raised in connection with this material. The Museum of Applied Arts prepared a programme as part of a consortium together with the Hungarian National Museum and the Institute of Geochemistry of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, to catalogue Haban ceramics in Hungarian public and private collections. Results of the detailed analysis will be entered in a computer database surveying Haban ceramics from the mid-16th century to the early 18th century, an approximate 1600 objects.
