Nicasius Ellebodiust, a flamand humanistát /Cassel 1535 - Pozsony 1577/ a reneszánsz poétikákat áttekintő B.Weinberg, és Arisztotelész Poétikájának oxfordi kiadója, R. Kassel perelte vissza a feledésből. Klaniczay Tibor kutatásaiból kiderült, hogy Ellebodius bő évtizedet élt Magyarországon, Pozsony és Bécs humanistáinak vonzáskörében, állandó levelezésben Európa humanistáival. Életművének kutatói a 16. század egyik legkiválóbb görög filológusát tisztelik benne, aki különösen Arisztotelész és Arisztophanész szövegeinek javításában, magyarázásában és latinra fordításában kimagasló. Művei kéziratban maradtak, emlékezete elhalványult. Kiadásukat, köztük elsősorban Poétikájáét a következő meggondolások indokolják. Figyelemre méltó és a maga korában egyedülálló az a fordításelmélet és az a filológusi program, melyet Poetica-parafrázisában (is) megvalósít. Módszere, a parafrazeálás, lehetővé teszi a vázlatszerű, töredezett arisztotelészi szöveg, a definiálatlan fogalmak minél teljesebb kibontását, mert túllépve a Poetica szövegének keretein az árnyalt értelmezéshez felhasználja az arisztotelészi corpus egészét, de gyakran idezi Platónt stb. is. A megvalósult Parafrázis Pinelli padovai humanista körével való együttgondolkodás terméke. A velük folytatott sűrű, főleg filológiai vonatkozású levélváltás bepillantást enged az alkotási folyamatba és nehézségeibe. Ennek köszönhetően maradtak fenn a műhelymunka szakaszait reprezentáló fogalmazványok. A kiadás gazdagítja és árnyalja a 16. századi filológia-történet, az Arisztotelész-kutatás és a magyarországi humanizmus közkeletű felfogását.
Summary
Nicasius Ellebodius Flemish humanist (Cassel 1535 - Pressburg 1577) was brought back from oblivion by Weinberg who surveyed the Renaissance Poetics and by Kassel the editor of the Oxford text of Aristotle’s Poetics. From the studies of Klaniczay we know that Ellebodius was living for more than a decade in Hungary in the attraction of Vienna’s and Pressburg’s humanists and was having a lively correspondece with the humanists of all Europe. The researchers of his life-works respect him as one of the most eminent Greek philologist of the 16. century, who is especially outstanding in the emendation, explanation and Latin translation of the texts of Aristotle and Aristophanes. As his works are all manuscripts his memory faded. The publishing of them, especially that of the Poetics are justified by the following considerations. His theory of translation and the philologist program that he accomplished in his Poetics-paraphrasis (too) was unique in his days and truly deserves attention. His method (paraphrasealing) enables us to fully expound the roughly outlined and fragmentary text of Aristotle and the undefined notions. Transgressing the frames of the Poetics, for a subtle interpretation he uses the whole corpus Aristotelicum, but he often recites Platon et al., too. The accomplished paraphrasis is the product of a “thinking together” with Pinelli’s humanist circle in Padua. His frequent, mostly philological correspondence with them lets us have an insight in the process and problems of creation. Thanks to this relationship text variations remained representing the different phases of work.This present publication will deepen and add to the current approach of the 16 century history of philology, the Aristotle studies and the humanism in Hungary.
