A kutatás célja a 17-18. századi erdélyi öltözködés vizsgálata a korszak viseletszabályozásai alapján. A publikált források összegyűjtése és elemzése mellett célomnak tekintem ismeretlen rendelkezések feltárását és közlését. Az öltözék rangjelző szerepe mellett a foglalkozás, nem, családi állapot és kor, alkalmak, nemzetiség illetve regionális identitás kifejezése is szolgált. Ennek legfontosabb eszközei az anyag- és színhasználat, az öltözék díszítettsége, esetleg konkrét ruhadarabok viselése. Megvizsgálom a normatív források hatását a korabeli öltözködési gyakorlatra: az érintettek hogyan próbálták elkerülni a rendelkezéseket, a hatóságok hogyan igyekeztek betartatni azokat. Ezt a következő forráscsoportok bevonásával tervezem: 1. írott források: morális értekezések és prédikációk, korabeli leírások; 2. képi források: elsősorban viseletsorozatok és portrék; 3. tárgyi források: fennmaradt ruhadarabok. A kézzel festett erdélyi viseletsorozatok feldolgozásához adatbázist hozok létre, mely rendszerezve tartalmazza a sorozatok minden egyes képének és képfeliratának információit. Vállalom, hogy az ösztöndíj ideje alatt az eredményeimet magyar és nemzetközi konferenciákon is bemutatom, valamint évi két tanulmányt publikálok a témában. Emellett a harmadik év végére összeállítok egy adat DVD-t, mely tartalmazza a viseletsorozatok képeit és az adatbázist.
Summary
The goal of the project is to study the clothes and clothing habits in Transylvania in the 17th and 18th centuries, primarily based on clothing ordinances. Apart from a comparative study of known sources I also intend to search for and publish sources that have been unknown for the literature so far. Clothing was not only an indicator of social status, but also expressed occupation, gender, family status and age, occasions, national and regional identity. The most important means are the choice of colors and materials, the richness of the decoration and jewels, and sometimes the wearing of specific garments. I will examine the influence of normative sources on the clothing practices in the period: how those who were concerned tried to circumvent the regulations, and how the authorities tried to enforce them. For the investigation I will include the following source types. 1. written sources: moralistic literature, preaching, and contemporary descriptions; 2. pictorial sources: primarily costume series and portraits; 3. artifacts: remained articles of clothing from the period. For the analysis of hand-painted Transylvanian costume series I will create a database. The database will contain all information from the pictures as well as their captions. I will participate in Hungarian and international conferences to present my results during the grant period. I plan to publish two papers annually. By the end of the third year I will prepare a data DVD containing pictures of unpublished costume series as well as the database.
