Az arab adab irodalom (a szórakoztatva tanító irodalom) és tudományos irodalom a 7 - 10 században jött létre, görög előzmények nyomán. Nagy szerepet játszottak ezen a téren a görög rétor-iskolák, a keresztény teológusok és a görögöktől átvett tudományok, a hozzájuk kapcsolódó fordítói tevékenységgel. A pályázat részben a görög retorika elemeinek tovább élését akarja kutatni az egyes arab tudományok területén: a filozófia egyes résztudományaiban, a muzulmán teológiai irodalomban, illetve az arabul író egyházatyák műveiben. (Ezen a téren a pályázat egy nemzetközi vállalkozásba illeszkedik bele, amelyet a Tübingeni Egyetem koordinál. Az arab nyelvű keresztény teológusok műveinek vizsgálatát kutatóink a Passaui egyetem tanáraival közösen végzik.) A munka már korábban megkezdett kutatásokhoz kapcsolódik. Ezek részben korábbi OTKA pályázatok segítségével folytak - így például az első arab prózai mű, a Nagy Sándor és Aristotelés levelezésének szövegkiadása tanulmánnyal - részben a Passaui Egyetem anyagi támogatásával (a keresztény arab teológiai irodalom tanulmányozása) stb. Most ezekből az eddig szétszórt kutatásokból szeretnénk egy egységes és célirányos munkát kialakítani, amelynek célja az arab prózairodalom különböző, itt fölsorolt területeinek egységes vizsgálata, hogy a részeredmények összekapcsolása és az általános jellemzők megállapítása révén e korszakkal kapcsolatban egyetemes érvényű következtetések legyenek levonhatók. A kutatásba szeretnénk egyetemi hallgatókat is bevonni. Munkájukat már ők is megkezdték, de annak bevonása a pályázat közös keretei közé hatékonyabbá tenné mindenkinek a kutatásait. Az ő munkáik rövidebb tudományos - filozófiai és irodalomelméleti, vallástudományi - traktátusok kéziratainak átírásából, kiadásra előkészítéséből áll. Ezek a munkák mind a tudományos próza görög hátterének egy részkérdését dolgozzák föl.
Summary
The Arabic literature in prose - the adab literature and the scientific literature - was brought about in the 7th through 10 centuries following the model of the Greek literature in prose. In this process the surviving Greek schools of rhetoric, the Greek theologians (church fathers) and the scientific translations played a decisive role. The aim of the project is to make inquire how the elements of the Greek rhetoric were transmitted to various fields of the Arabic scientific literature: to the works of philosophy, theology (both Muslim and Christian) and to that of literary theory. This project has partly an international background: an international project coordinated by the University of Tübingen consists of many sub-projects, one of which is the examination of the works written by Arab Christian theologians. This project is carried out by our researchers and a group of the professors from Passau. From the other side, the works continues examinations carried out earlier, partly supported by OTKA (for example, the publication of the first Arabic work in prose containing the correspondence between Aristotle and Alexander the Great), partly by the University of Passau (the Christian Arab writers), etc. In this project we want to unify the examinations of various branches of literature in a comprehensive program. In the program, in addition to the continuation of the earlier examinations, our aim is to compare the results achieved independently, in order to realise what were the differences and common features of those fields, and so we want to come to generally valid conclusions. In the project university students will participate through preparation of manuscripts of scientific treatises for publication. Those manuscripts contain treatises from the field of philosophy and theology to literary theory, and all they concern certain aspects of the Greek background of the Arabic literature in prose.
