A kutatás összefoglalója, célkitűzései szakemberek számára
Itt írja le a kutatás fő célkitűzéseit a témában jártas szakember számára.
Vizsgálni kívánjuk a kétdimenziós anizotropikus bolyongás tulajdonságait, többek között a folyamat lokális idejét és más fontos additív funkcionáljai aszimptotikáját, kiterjesztve Erdős, Taylor, Dvoretzky és mások klasszikus eredményeit.

Kiterjeszteni kívánjuk a Komlós-Major-Tusnády approximációtétel általunk nemrég bizonyított függő alakját klasszikus keverési feltételek esetére, valamint momentumfeltételek helyett véges momentumgeneráló függvény feltételezése mellett. Az ugyancsak nemrég nyert, empirikus folyamatokra vonatkozó függő KMT approximáció esetén pedig javitani kívánjuk a polinomiális maradéktag kitevőjét. Ezen kiterjesztések
a tételek alkalmazása szempontjából döntő fontosságúak lennének.

Vizsgáljuk a felújítási folyamat, Bahadur-Kiefer és Vervaat folyamatok aszimptotikus viselkedését hosszú memóriájú idősorok esetén.

Vizsgáljuk az analízisben fellépő gyengén és erősen függő folyamatok aszimptotikus tulajdonságait, melyek fontos új eredményeket igérnek általánosított Fourier sorok, valamint véletlen frekvenciájú trigonometrikus
sorok konvergenciája terén.

Folytatni kívánjuk a véletlen kombinatorikai struktúrák időbeli fejlődésével kapcsolatos kutatásainkat. Olyan véletlen gráfokat es hálózatokat szeretnénk analizálni, amelyek fejlődését a csúcsok közötti csoportos kölcsönhatás irányít. Tanulmányozzuk a publikációs tevékenység egy sztochasztikus modelljét, amely bizonyos véletlen gráfok és hálózatok közös általánosításának tekinthető. További kutatási célunk aszimmetrikusan fejlődő hálózatok, valamint az alkalmazásokban nagy jelentőségű véletlen folyamatok, pl. az általánosított duplikációs folyamat tanulmányozása.

Mi a kutatás alapkérdése?
Ebben a részben írja le röviden, hogy mi a kutatás segítségével megválaszolni kívánt probléma, mi a kutatás kiinduló hipotézise, milyen kérdéseket válaszolnak meg a kísérletek.
A kutatás alapkérdése a sztochasztikus struktúrák aszimptotikus viselkedése. A vizsgálni kívánt struktúrák: véletlen anizotropikus bolyongások, függő valószínűségi változókra vonatkozó invariancia, erősen függő változók, valószínűségszámítási problémák az analízisben, véletlen struktúrák, gráfok, hálózatok.

Mi a kutatás jelentősége?
Röviden írja le, milyen új perspektívát nyitnak az alapkutatásban az elért eredmények, milyen társadalmi hasznosíthatóságnak teremtik meg a tudományos alapját. Mutassa be, hogy a megpályázott kutatási területen lévő hazai és a nemzetközi versenytársaihoz képest melyek az egyediségei és erősségei a pályázatának!
Az aszimptotikus eredmények lehetővé teszik, hogy bonyolult számítások helyett sok esetben a keresett valószínűségek, eloszlások, illetve folyamat jellemzők jóval egyszerűbben meghatározhatók, illetve megbecsülhetők. A tervezett kutatások ezek elméleti alapjait rakják le, amelyek gyakorlati alkalmazásoknál, pl. statisztikai próbák, becslések esetén jól használhatók.

A kutatás összefoglalója, célkitűzései laikusok számára
Ebben a fejezetben írja le a kutatás fő célkitűzéseit alapműveltséggel rendelkező laikusok számára. Ez az összefoglaló a döntéshozók, a média, illetve az érdeklődők tájékoztatása szempontjából különösen fontos az NKFI Hivatal számára.
A sztochasztika alapfogalmai és fontos alkalmazásai (statisztikai próbák, becslések, stb) aszimptotikus eljárásoktól függnek, ezért a határértéktételek fontos szerepet játszanak az elméletben. A Rényi Alfréd alapította magyar valószínűségszámítási iskola eredményei ezen a területen kiemelkedőek. Folytatni kívánjuk vizsgálatainkat a határértéktételek témakörében, különös tekintettel a véletlen bolyongásokra és általánosításaikra, valószínűségszámítási módszerek alkalmazására az analízisben, sztochasztikus folyamatok struktúrájának tanulmányozására nagy hálózatok esetén. Ezek a vizsgálatok nem csak elméleti szempontból jelentősek, hanem számos gyakorlati alkalmazásuk is van. Az utóbbi években világszerte a kutatások homlokterébe került a nagyméretű hálózatok struktúrájának, szerveződésének, fejlődésének a vizsgálata. A sztochasztikus modellek különösen alkalmasak arra, hogy a nagy méret miatt lehetetlennek bizonyuló teljes részletességű leírás helyett a lényeges trendek, statisztikai törvényszerűségek megragadásával adjanak a gyakorlatban is használható eredményeket. Az elvégezni kívánt kutatások ehhez járulnak hozzá.

Summary of the research and its aims for experts
Describe the major aims of the research for experts.
We propose to study the asymptotic properties of the two-dimensional anisotropic random walk, in particular the asymptotic behavior of its local time and other important additive functionals. This would extend classical results of Erdős, Taylor, Dvoretzky and others.

We wish to extend the dependent generalization of the Komlós-Major-Tusnády approximation theorems, obtained recently by our group, to the case of stationary processes satisfying classical mixing conditions and processes with finite moment generating functions. We also wish to improve the polynomial remainder term in the strong approximation of the empirical process of dependent sequences, obtained by us recently. These improvements would be particularly important for the applications of these results.

We propose to study the asymptotic properties of the renewal process, Bahadur-Kiefer and Vervaat processes of time series with long memory.

We wish to study the asymptotic properties of weakly and strongly dependent processes in analysis, promising important new results for the convergence of generalized Fourier series and of trigonometric series with random frequencies.

Finally, we will study the evolution of random combinatorial structures. In particular, we study random graphs and networks evolving by group interactions, a random model of publication activity, asymmetrically growing networks, and special processes with high importance in applications, such as the generalized duplication model.

What is the major research question?

The basic problem of the research is the asymptotic behaviour of various stochastic structures. We are planning to study the following structures: Anisotropic random walks, invariance principles for dependent random
variables, long range dependence, weakly dependent processes in analysis, random combinatorial structures, graphs, networks.

What is the significance of the research?
Describe the new perspectives opened by the results achieved, including the scientific basics of potential societal applications. Please describe the unique strengths of your proposal in comparison to your domestic and international competitors in the given field.
Using asymptotic results enables one to simplify complicated calculations for probabilities, distributions or process characteristics considerably. We are planning research to lay the theoretical basis of such calculations,
which can then be applied in practical situations, such as statistical tests and estimations.

Summary and aims of the research for the public
Describe here the major aims of the research for an audience with average background information. This summary is especially important for NRDI Office in order to inform decision-makers, media, and others.
The basic concepts (probability, expectation) and important procedures (statistical tests and estimators) of stochastics depend on asymptotic relations and thus limit theorems play a fundamental role in the theory.
The greatest achievements of the Hungarian probability school, founded by Alfréd Rényi, are also obtained in this field. We intend to continue our investigations in probabilistic limit theorems, in particular in the
structure of random walks and their generalizations, applications of probability limit theory in analysis and the structure of stochastic processes in the study of large networks, topics which have not only theoretical, but considerable practical importance. In recent years it was a worldwide tendency to investigate the structure and development of large networks. The stochastic models are particularly suitable to provide results that can be used in applications by giving essential trends and statistical rules instead of very complicated solutions for big structures. We intend to contribute to this problem in our research.

Időben fejlődő különféle véletlen kombinatorikai struktúrák (köztük véletlen gráfok) jellemzőinek aszimptotikus viselkedését vizsgáltuk. Gyenge és erős invarianciát bizonyítottunk az un. pók struktúrán való bolyongás magasságára, lokális és tartózkodási idejére. Bizonyos gráfokon történő 2 vagy több bolyongások közti távolságokra. Anizotropikus bolyongások néhány tulajdonságát vizsgáltuk. Számos határeloszlástételt bizonyítottunk az un. szentpétervári játékra, többek között egy erős invariancia elvet vonzási tartományba nem tartozó valószínűségi változókra. Kiterjesztettük a Komlós-Major-Tusnády approximációtételt függő folyamatokra. Pontos kritériumot adtunk általánosított Fourier sorok egy osztályának majdnem mindenütt való konvergenciájára. Aszimptotikus eredményeket bizonyítottunk gyengén függő valószínűségi változók megnyírt összegeire és kiterjesztettük az un. CUSUM módszert függő folyamatokban fellépő változások felismerésére. Bebizonyítottuk az un. "részsorozat elv" egy egyenletes formáját, funkcionálanalízisbeli alkalmazásokkal. Elméleti biológiai problémák által motivált matematikai modelleket építettünk és elemeztünk a sztochasztika, a játékelmélet és a differenciálegyenletek elméletének módszereivel. Folytattuk korábbi kutatásainkat a többdimenziós eloszlásokkal kapcsolatos valószínűségekre, ill. a diszkrét eloszlások eltérésére adott becslések területén.

We investigated the asymptotic behavior of numerical characteristics of certain random combinatorial structures (including random graphs) evolving in time. We proved weak and strong invariance principles for heights, local and occupation times of random walks on spider. We proved some results for the distance between 2 or more random walks on certain graphs. The properties of certain anisotropic random walks were investigated. We proved several limit theorems for the St. Petersburg game and obtained a strong invariance principle for i.i.d. random variables not belonging to any domain of attraction. We extended the Komlós-Major-Tusnády strong approximation theorem to dependent random variables. We gave optimal convergence criteria for a class of generalized Fourier series. We proved asymptotic results for trimmed sums of weakly dependent random variables and extended the classical CUSUM change point method for dependent processes. We proved a uniform version of the so called "subsequence principle"with applications in functional analysis. We constructed and analysed mathematical models motivated by theoretical biology with method of stochastics, game theory, and the theory of differential equations. We continued our earlier research and gave new estimations for the probabilities ralated to multivariate probability measures and for the deviation of discrete probability distributions.
