A projektben felületi struktúrák önszerveződő kialakulásával, felületek bevonataival és azok tribológiai jellemzőivel foglalkoztunk. Analitikus és kísérleti vizsgálatokat végeztünk különböző eljárásokkal készült bevonatok esetén elemezve a súrlódást és kopást. Az alkalmazások szempontjából jelentős folyadék áramlást mono- és hibrid nanofolyadékokra vizsgáltuk sima és érdes felületek felett, valamint csatornákban és csőben. A projektben készült publikációk betekintést nyújtanak a nyúló vagy zsugorodó felületekkel járó ipari folyamatok szempontjából fontos összetett folyadékáramlások viselkedésébe. Olyan nanofolyadék áramlásokat elemeztünk, amelyek előnyei ígéretes jelöltekké teszik ezeket számos olyan alkalmazásban, ahol a hatékony hőátadás és hőgazdálkodás alapvető fontosságú és lehetőséget ad a teljesítmény javítására és az energiamegtakarításra, mint pl. hőcserélők és napkollektorok. Vizsgálataink során szükségessé vált, hogy új, a a nanofolyadékok és sziliconolaj szimulációiban a viszkozitást pontosan leíró egyenleteket hozzunk létre. Elemeztük az érdes felületek feletti áramlásban fellépő ellenállási erőt, amely befolyásolja pl. a hajók üzemanyag-fogyasztását. A projekt alatt 82 publikáció jelent meg az analitikus, numerikus és kísérleti eredményeinkről és további 9 elkészült. Két doktorandusz PhD fokozatot szerzett és egy további értekezés már bírálat alatt áll.

In the project we have been dealing with the self-assembly of surface structures, surface coatings and their tribological properties. Analytical and experimental studies were carried out on coatings produced by different processes, analysing friction and wear. Fluid flow, relevant for applications, was analysed for mono- and hybrid nanofluids over smooth and rough surfaces, in lamaint channels and tubes. The project publications provide insights into the behaviour of complex fluid flows relevant to industrial processes involving stretching or shrinking surfaces. We have analysed nanofluids whose advantages make them promising candidates for a number of applications where efficient heat transfer and heat management are essential and offer the potential for improved performance and energy savings, such as heat exchangers and solar collectors. In our investigations, it became necessary to create novel equations that accurately describe the viscosity of nanofluids and silicone oil in simulation procedures. We have analysed the drag force in the flow over rough surfaces, which affects the fuel consumption of e.g. ships. During the project, 82 publications on our analytical, numerical and theoretical results were published and a further 9 were completed. Two doctoral students have obtained PhD degrees and another thesis is under review.
