Jelen pályázatban szilárdmintás spektrokémiai módszerek (grafitkemencés atomabszorpciós spektrometria (GFAAS) és elektrotermikus elpárologtatóval csatolt lángatomabszorpciós spektrometria (ETV-FAAS) ) fejlesztését tűztem ki célul intézetünkben növesztett és vizsgált optikai egykristályminták adalék- és szennyezőelem tartalmának meghatározására. Ezen anyagok számos olyan tulajdonsággal rendelkeznek, amelyek világviszonylatban egyedülállóak, ezért perspektívikus jövőbeli alkalmazások megvalósítását teszik lehetővé, pl. holografikus memóriaként, illetve optikai számítógépekben.
A pályázat első részeként néhány kémiailag igen ellenálló optikai egykristály (litium-niobát, ittrium-alumínium-borát) főkomponensének, adalék- és nyomelemének (pl. Cr, Er, Yb, Tm, Nd, Mo, Pt) elpárolgási tulajdonságait kívánom tanulmányozni GFAAS és ETV-FAAS módszerekkel. Vizsgálni kívánom különböző kémiai módosítók, és aeroszolképző adalékok hatását a minta elpárolgás/atomizáció (GFAAS), illetve elpárolgás/aeroszol továbbítás (ETV-FAAS) folyamatainak vonatkozásában. Ezzel felderíthető a kristályok párolgási sajátságai, ami a kristálynövesztésnél fontos információ az esetlegesen fellépő párolgási veszteségek kiküszöbölése érdekében. Az elektronmikroszondás módszerrel tervezett kiegészítő mérések lehetőséget adnak a szilárdminták elpárolgási formáinak vizsgálatára.
A pályázat második részeként, a fenti kísérletek eredményeinek tükrében, meghatározási módszereket kívánok kidolgozni a vizsgálandó elemek szilárdmintás GFAAS, és ETV-FAAS meghatározására. A fenti módszerekkel nyert adatok általánosíthatók, és felhasználhatók hasonló, a grafitkemencében nehezen elpárolgó környezeti minták (pl. talajok) nyomelemeinek meghatározására. Továbbá, a nyert információk támogatást jelentenek a kristálynövesztés és minősítés, valamint a szilárdtestfizikai kutatatások számára.

The aims of the present proposal is to elaborate solid sampling spectrochemical methods (graphite furnace atomic absorption spectrometry (GFAAS) and electrothermal vaporization coupled to flame atomic absorption spectrometry (ETV-FAAS) ) for the determination of trace levels of dopants and impurities in optical single crystals. These materials have several unique characteristics, which makes their novel applications possible in the near future, for example, in holographic memories, and in optical computers.
The first stage of the work aims at the study on the vaporization characterisctics of impurities and dopant elements (Cr, Er, Yb, Tm, Nd, Mo, Pt) in chemically resistant optical single crystals (lithium niobate and yttrium aluminium borate) by GFAAS and ETV-FAAS methods. The action of several modifiers and aerosol-forming additives are to be investigated on the vaporization/atomization (GFAAS) and the vaporization/vapour transport (ETV-FAAS). The electronmicro probe studies provides a possibility, not only to reveal the stoichiometry of the crystals, but to assess the vaporization forms of solid samples.
The aim of the second part of the proposed studies is the elaboration of solid sampling methods for the quantification of the above dopant/impurity elements by GFAAS and ETV-FAAS in the crystals studied. The acquired data can supply with some general information on the vaporization characteristics of matrices concerned, and can be utillized to the analysis of environmental matrices/analytes of heavy volatile characterisctics (e.g., soils). Moreover, the obtained data also provides a support for crystal growth, qualification, and for solid state physics research as well.

Szilárdmintás és oldatos grafitkemencés atomabszorpciós spektrometriai (GFAAS) módszereket tanulmányoztunk és dolgoztunk ki lítium-niobát és bizmut-tellurit optikai kristályok adalékelemeinek (Cr, Fe, Mn, Er, Nd, Tm, Zr, Pr és Yb) meghatározására. A szilárdmintás GFAAS módszereket az oldatos GFAAS módszer alapján optimáltuk, amely alkalmasnak bizonyult a szilárdmintás módszer kalibrációjára (hárompont-becsléses standard addíció). A grafitkemence hevítési ciklus (analízis) során nehezen elpárolgó minta-összetevők által keltett memóriahatás megszüntetésére egy leegyszerűsített halogénezéses módszert javasoltunk. A röntgen-abszorpciós él-közeli struktúra (X-ray absorption near-edge structure – XANES) technikával meghatároztuk a grafitkemencében a memóriahatás miatt visszamaradó mintaösszetevők kémiai formáit. A kidolgozott GFAAS módszerek egyszerűen adaptálhatók a grafitkemencés elektrotermikus párologtatós (GF-ETV) csatolt analitikai technikákhoz. A szilárdmintás módszerek validálásához oldatos GFAAS, lángatomabszorpciós spektrometriás (FAAS), induktív csatolású plazma atom emissziós spektrometriás (ICP-AES) és induktív csatolású plazma tömegspektrometriás (ICP-MS) módszereket dolgoztunk ki és alkalmaztunk.

Solid sampling and solution based graphite furnace atomic absorption spectrometry (GFAAS) methods were studied and elaborated to the determination of specific dopant elements (Cr, Fe, Mn, Er, Nd, Tm, Zr, Pr and Yb) in lithium niobate and bismuth tellurite optical crystals. The solid sampling GFAAS methods were optimized on the base of the solution based GFAAS methods, which was also proven to be applicable to the calibration of the solid sampling based method (three-point estimation standard addition). To overcome the memory-effects arising from the slow vaporization of refractory sample components during the heating of the graphite furnace (analytical cycle), a simplified halogenation method was suggested. The chemical forms of the refractory matrix components retained in the graphite furnace due to the memory-effect were determined by X-ray absorption near-edge structure (XANES). The elaborated GFAAS methods can be easily adapted to the graphite furnace electrothemal vaporization (GF-ETV) coupled analytical techniques. For the validation of the solid sampling methods, solution-based GFAAS, flame atomic absorption spectrometry (FAAS), inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometry (ICP-AES) and inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) methods were elaborated and applied.
