A kutatás összefoglalója, célkitűzései szakemberek számára
Itt írja le a kutatás fő célkitűzéseit a témában jártas szakember számára.

Soktest rendszerekkel kapcsolatos alapvető kérdésekkel kívánunk
foglalkozni, melyek a spontán rendeződésre és a nemegyensúlyi
relaxációs folyamatra vonatkoznak. Klasszikus és kvantum rendszerek
alapállapoti konfigurációjának matematikailag szigorú kiszámítását
tervezzük. A rendezetlenség a valós rendszerek elengedhetetlen
velejárója melynek a fázisátalakulásokra és a relaxációs folyamatokra
gyakorolt hatásával is foglalkozni kívánunk. Rendezetlen kvantum
mágnesek esetén a végtelen rendezetlenségi skálázási leírás a rövid
hatótávolságú kölcsönhatással bíró rendszerek egy csoportjára
relevánsnak bizonyult. A projektben a rendezetlen kvantum rendszerek
más csoportjainak kritikus viselkedését is vizsgálni akarjuk,
olyanokat is, amelyekben a kölcsönhatás
optikai rácsokra helyezett ultra-hideg atomi gázok esetén a
kölcsönhatás hirtelen megváltoztatásakor fellépő nemegyensúlyi
folyamatokat tanulmányozzák. A projektben olyan elméleti problémák
vizsgálatát tervezzük, melyek zárt kvantum rendszerek nemegyensúlyi
relaxációjára vonatkoznak és olyan alapvető kérdéseket fogunk
tanulmányozni, mint a termalizáció integrálható és nemintegrálható
rendszerekben.

Mi a kutatás alapkérdése?
Ebben a részben írja le röviden, hogy mi a kutatás segítségével megválaszolni kívánt probléma, mi a kutatás kiinduló hipotézise, milyen kérdéseket válaszolnak meg a kísérletek.

A projekt fő célja soktest rendszerek spontán rendeződésével és
nemegyensúlyi dinamikájával kapcsolatos alapvető kérdések vizsgálata.
Ezzel kapcsolatban klasszikus és kvantum rendszerek
alapállapoti konfigurációját matematikailag szigorúan kívánjuk
kiszámítani, ami egy dimenzió fölött rendkívül nehéz feladat. A kutatás
másik fontos kérdése a mintába befagyott rendezetlenségnek a
fázisátalakulásra és a lassú dinamikai folyamatokra gyakorolt hatásával
foglalkozik. Rövid hatótávolságú kölcsönhatással rendelkező rendezetlen
mágnesek gyakran végtelen rendezetlenségi skálázást mutatnak a
kritikus pontban.
Arra a
a részecskék közötti kölcsönhatás alakját hirtelen megváltoztatjuk?

Mi a kutatás jelentősége?

tartoznak.
Ezzel kapcsolatban
rendezetlen kvantum mágnesek kritikus tulajdonságait fogjuk vizsgálni,
mind rövid- mind hosszú-hatótávolságú kölcsönhatás esetén, továbbá
tanulmányozzuk az összefonódási entrópia skálázódását is, mely
mennyiség a kvantum fázisátalakulás érzékeny indikátora.

A kutatás összefoglalója, célkitűzései laikusok számára
Ebben a fejezetben írja le a kutatás fő célkitűzéseit alapműveltséggel rendelkező laikusok számára.

Példaként említhetjük a szilárd
testeket a fizikában, vagy a sok emberből álló közösségeket. A soktest
rendszerek látványos tulajdonsága a spontán rendeződés, ami
pl. folyadékok fagyásakor következik be. Ezen rendszerek alapállapoti
konfigurációinak matematikai szigorúsággal történő kiszámítása nagyon
nehéz feladat és mi a teljes bizonyítás irányában néhány lépést
kívánunk megtenni. A rendezetlenség minden valódi fizikai rendszer
befagyott rendezetlenség is megváltoztathatja a fázisátalakulás
tulajdonságait és a relaxációs folyamat dinamikáját. A pályázatban
mely a kvantum fázisátalakulás érzékeny indikátora. Nemegyensúlyi
folyamatok esetén olyan reakció-diffúzió modelleket tekintünk, melyek
a járványok terjedésének leírására használhatók. A modellt komplex
hálózatokon fogjuk vizsgálni, melyek a résztvevők elhelyezkedését jól
leírják. Olyan kérdéseket fogunk vizsgálni, hogy a hálózatok
topológiájából adódó rendezetlenségnek milyen szerepe van a rendszer
lassú relaxációjában. Utolsó témánkat az optikai rácsokra helyezett
ultra-hideg atomi gázokkal végzett kísérletek motiválják. Ezzel
kapcsolatban zárt kvantum rendszerek nemegyensúlyi relaxációját fogjuk
elméletileg vizsgálni, olyan folyamat során, amikor a rendszerben lévő
kölcsönhatást hirtelen megváltoztatjuk. Ez a probléma kapcsolódik a
világegyetemnek az ősrobbanás után mutatott fejlődéséhez is.
Summary
Summary of the research and its aims for experts
Describe the major aims of the research for experts.

We plan to study fundamental questions in the theory of many body
systems, which are related to the spontaneous order as well as to the
nonequilibrium relaxation process. We plan to to calculate the ground
state configurations both for classical and quantum systems in a
mathematically rigorous way. Disorder is an inevitable feature of real
systems and we want to study its effect on the phase-transition of the
systems as well as on the slow relaxation process. For random quantum
magnets the infinite disorder scaling scenario is found to be relevant
for a class of systems with short range interactions. Here we want to
study another class of random quantum models, also those with long
range forces to clarify their critical properties. We want also to
study scaling properties of the entanglement entropy in these systems.
For nonequilibrium processes we consider reaction-diffusion models
which describe the spreading of epidemic diseases. These models are
treated on complex networks, rather than on regular lattices and we
study how the irregular structure of the networks will influence the
slow dynamics of the process. In recent experiments with ultra-cold
atomic gases on optical lattices the relaxation process is studied
after a sudden change of the interactions. Here we want to study
related theoretical problems, which concern nonequilibrium relaxation
of closed quantum systems and want to investigate fundamental
questions concerning thermalization in integrated and nonintegrated
systems.

What is the major research question?
Describe here briefly the problem to be solved by the research, the starting hypothesis, and the questions addressed by the experiments.

The main goal of our project is to study basic and fundamental
questions about spontaneous ordering and nonequilibrium dynamics in
many body systems. One fundamental question concerns the ground state
configurations of classical and quantum systems. To perform a
calculation in mathematically rigorous way is known notoriously
difficult above one dimension. Another question is related to the
effect of frozen disorder on the phase-transition process, as well as
on the slow dynamics of many body systems. Random quantum magnets with
short range interactions often show infinite disorder scaling at the
random critical point. We want to study if this scenario stays valid
for quantum spin glasses with long-range forces, too. We want also to
investigate the behaviour of the entanglement entropy, which is a
sensitive indicator of a quantum phase-transition. For nonequilibrium
processes reaction-diffusion models are used to describe the spreading
of epidemic diseases. To describe realistic situation the problem is
considered on complex networks and we ask the question how frozen
disorder as well as imperfections due to the topology will result in a
slow dynamical process and we study rare region effects which could
lead to Griffiths singularities. The last problem we plan to study is
motivated by recent experiments on ultra-cold atomic gases: how the
order in a closed quantum system is going to change after a sudden
change of the interaction. We plan to study the question: what is the
origin of the different relaxation behaviour observed in integrable
and nonintegrable systems, and generally how thermalization takes
place in a closed quantum system.

What is the significance of the research?
Describe the new perspectives opened by the results achieved, including the scientific basics of potential societal applications. Please describe the unique strengths of your proposal in comparison to your domestic and international competitors in the given field.

We are going to study basic and fundamental questions in the theory of
many body systems, which have become very actual recently due to new
experiments, such as through ultra-cold atomic gases in optical
lattices. Concerning the search for ground state configurations,
these are very hard problems in mathematical physics and only a few
steps in direction of general proofs, such as of Bose-Einstein
condensation in a homogeneous system, in the presence of a
non-artificial interaction, would mean considerable success. Another
investigations aim to clarify the effect of frozen disorder for the
ordering process at phase-transition points, as well as for the slow
dynamics of the relaxation process. In this context we shall study
random quantum systems, both with short range and long range
interactions, and study - among others scaling properties of the
entanglement entropy, which is a sensitive indicator of a quantum
phase transition. For nonequilibrium processes we consider models on
complex networks, which are relevant for the spreading of an epidemic
disease and study how the irregular topology of the complex network
influences the speed of the spreading/relaxation process. Our final
problem is inspired by recent experiments on optical lattices with
ultra-cold atomic gases and considers the relaxation process of closed
quantum systems after a sudden change of the parameters in the
Hamiltonian. Here we want to explain the difference observed in
integrable and nonintegrable models and want to study the fundamental
question of thermalization in a closed quantum system.

Summary and aims of the research for the public
Describe here the major aims of the research for an audience with average background information. This summary is especially important for NRDI Office in order to inform decision-makers, media, and others.

Many body systems consist of a large number of particles with known
microscopic interactions. These represent solid states in physics, or
the community of large number of people. A spectacular aspect of many
body systems is spontaneous ordering, which takes place, c.f. at the
freezing point of a liquid. To calculate the ground state
configuration of such system in a mathematically rigorous way is a
very difficult problem and we want to make a few steps in this
direction. Disorder is an inevitable feature of all real materials
and it is known that even extremely small amount of frozen disorder
can modify the properties of phase transitions, as well as the
dynamical relaxation process. Here we want to study disorder effects
in quantum systems and study such quantities, as the entanglement
entropy, which is an indicator of a quantum phase-transition. For
nonequilibrium processes we consider reaction-diffusion models which
are used to describe the spreading of epidemic diseases. This model is
considered on complex networks, which is used to describe the possible
contacts in a realistic way. We are interested in the slow dynamics
present in such systems due to the imperfections related to the
topology of the network. Our final study is motivated by experiments
on ultra-cold atomic gases in optical lattices. Here we study
theoretically the relaxation process in a closed quantum system after
a sudden change of the parameters. This problem could be related to
the evolution of the universe after the Big Bang.
