A kutatás összefoglalója, célkitűzései szakemberek számára
Itt írja le a kutatás fő célkitűzéseit a témában jártas szakember számára.

A negyedik rész a tetszőleges dimenziós kontakt struktúrák osztályozását tervezi.

Mi a kutatás alapkérdése?

A második rész a lokális analitikus geometriának a projektív síkgörbék globális tulajdonságaira való hatását tanulmányozza. Itt a racionális görbék osztályozásában ismét az alacsony dimenziós topológia megszorításai kerülnek előtérbe. A következő rész a sima függvények globális tulajdonságait vizsgálja a Smale invariáns és Thom polinomok segítségével. Azon jelenségre szeretnénk rávilágítani amikor az analitikus merevség bizonyos homotópia invariánsok értékeiben megszorításokat tesz. A kontakt struktúrák osztályozását hasonló elv motiválja, ezen struktúrák merevségi tulajdonságai a sima és az algebrai struktúrák (e két véglet) közti hidat képviselik. At utolsó rész számtestek feletti Chow csoportokra vonatkozó végességi tételek az algebrai geometria és a számelméletet egységét hangsúlyozza.

Mi a kutatás jelentősége?

A pályázat ereje a tematikák interdisciplináris struktúrájában rejlik. A fő cél a geometria különböző, de kapcsolódó ágai közötti mélyebb összefüggések feltárása. A program a pályázat résztvevői közötti szoros, már létező kollaboráláson alapszik. Mindannyian nemcsak saját területeiknek szakértői, hanem ugyanakkor nyitottak szomszédos területek kutatásai felé is, amelyek megértéséhez globális szemléletre van szükség. Ennek megfelelő globális együttműködést tervezünk. A lokális-globális, sima-analitikus, homotopikus-merev, topologikus-analitikus, kis-nagy dimenziós pólusterminológiák
a matematika fő mozgatórugóit képezik. Ez támasztja alá a tervezett pályázat jelentőségét. Ezzel párhuzamosan a kutatási kérdések a szakirodalom fontos sejtéseihez szorosan kapcsolódnak. Megoldásuktól reméljük olyan akadályok elhárulását, amelyek a jelenlegi kutatást gátolják. A pályázat kérdései tükrözik a kutatási területek vezető egyéniségeinek reflektálását a kutatási területek legjelentősebb nyitott problémáira. A kérdések sokszínűsége és interdisciplináris természete arra is reményt ad, hogy ezen kutatás megtalálja alkalmazhatósági területeit más tudományágakban is.

A kutatás összefoglalója, célkitűzései laikusok számára
Ebben a fejezetben írja le a kutatás fő célkitűzéseit alapműveltséggel rendelkező laikusok számára.

Summary
Summary of the research and its aims for experts
Describe the major aims of the research for experts.

The proposal targets the singularities of smooth and complex analytic/algebraic maps, and their influence on the global geometry of smooth and algebraic manifolds. The project is divided in several parts, nevertheless there are strong inter-penetrations between them. The first part focuses on the geometry of normal surface singularities, it aims to connect the topological invariants (Heegaard Floer homology, lattice cohomology, Lipman semi-ring) with analytic invariants (Poincaré series of the multi-variable divisorial filtration, analytic semi-ring determined by divisors of analytic functions).
The second part aims the classification of cuspidal rational projective plane curves.
Via superisolated singularities the problem partly transfers into the area of surface singularities, in which case the interplay between complex geometry and low dimensional topology provide strong restrictions.
The third part attacks deep interplay properties between local and global geometry. The research questions are concentrated around key properties of Smale invariants and Thom polynomials in the presence of analytic rigidity.
The forth part targets classification of contact structures in arbitrary dimensions.
The last part is devoted to arithmetic algebraic geometry: the aim is to prove
finiteness properties of Chow group over infinite number fields.

What is the major research question?
Describe here briefly the problem to be solved by the research, the starting hypothesis, and the questions addressed by the experiments.

We plan to study smooth analytic maps defined on smooth/analytic spaces. The main power of the proposal is the interplay between different aspects, areas and techniques. Different parts emphasize different deep connections. The first part establishes the interplay of low dimensional topology (with its new powerful invariants) and local complex analytic geometry. This part can be connected with recent results of tropical geometry as well. In the second part we plan to understand the effect of the local analytic geometry to the global geometry of projective plane curves. Furthermore, again, several strong conditions for the classification of rational plane curves are imposed by low dimensional topology. The next part aims to study global properties of smooth functions via different invariants (Smale invariant, Thom polynomials).
We are mainly interested in their geometrical properties, and how is the complex analytic rigidity reflected in homotopy invariants provided that the corresponding maps, immersions, etc. are induced by holomorphic maps. By the classification of contact structure we wish to create those rigid structures which form the bridge between the smooth and the algebraic/holomorphic word. Finally, in the last part, finiteness properties of Chow groups over number fields reflect the unity between geometry and number theory.

What is the significance of the research?
Describe the new perspectives opened by the results achieved, including the scientific basics of potential societal applications. Please describe the unique strengths of your proposal in comparison to your domestic and international competitors in the given field.

Any part or partial result of the proposal would have huge impact, and would generate considerable research in the corresponding areas. The power and the new perspectives of the proposed questions lay in the interdisciplinary structure of the thematics. The essence is exactly to reveal the secrete connections between different (but related) areas of geometry. The project is based on the strong (already existing) collaboration of the members of the team, who besides that are specialist in their areas, are able to communicate with neighboring areas as well, and wish to enlarge their vision based on a more global picture.
This kind of collaboration we wish to propose. The polar notions local-global, smooth-analytic, homotopic-rigid, topological-analytical, low dimensional-high dimensional definitely are motivation powers in mathematics. That is why we believe in the importance of the proposed questions.
In parallel, the proposed questions are strongly related with several key (older or newer) conjectures of the literature. From their solution one hopes to break walls, and eliminate certain obstructions which brake the present research. The proposed problems are results of the reflection of leading experts on the present status quo in those areas.
The multitude of the questions, and also their interdisciplinary nature give hope that
the present research might find its application in other sciences as well.

Summary and aims of the research for the public
Describe here the major aims of the research for an audience with average background information. This summary is especially important for NRDI Office in order to inform decision-makers, media, and others.

Since the Greek geometry appeared, this area occupies a distinguished place in mathematics. It is that part of mathematics, which connects the other areas, e.g. algebra, analysis, number theory, combinatorics, graph theory. In this way, it is divided in different subparts: algebraic geometry, differentiable geometry, topology, arithmetic geometry, depending what tools and what aims are more emphasized. Nevertheless, the unity of different parts makes the theory perfect and powerful.
The present research aims to connect different areas of geometry: topology and algebraic geometry (and even some other some more specialized subfields, as homotopy theory). Each of these areas had their individual heroic periods in the history of mathematics, nevertheless the present mathematics aims to treat them again in their unity (in fact, even together with other sciences, as physics). The technical machinery is rather involved, it reflects the huge efforts of the last centuries to make the theory rigourous, self-contained, and capable to
include all the necessary inputs and techniques from other domains.
We plan to reveal certain deep interactions between subareas of geometry. The proposed questions are fundamental, are motivated by deep conjectures of the theory.
