A kutatás célja a 2014-ben indult Pilis Üzemmód Kísérlet keretében különböző erdészeti beavatkozások termőhelyre, biodiverzitásra és felújulásra gyakorolt hatásának vizsgálata volt egy gyertyános-kocsánytalan tölgyesben. A 2018-ban indított Pilis Lék Kísérletben különböző méretű és alakú lékek hatását vizsgáltuk hasonló változókra. A Pilis Üzemmód Kísérlet esetében a tarvágásban a mikroklíma jelentős megváltozását tapasztaltuk, míg a lékvágás és a bontóvágás megőrizte erdei jellegét. A vágásterület aljnövényzetében a zavarástűrő fajok váltak uralkodóvá.

The project investigated the effect of different forestry treatments on forest site, biodiversity and regeneration in the framework of Pilis Forestry Systems Experiment. In the Pilis Gap Experiment we studied the effect of different gap size and gap shape on the same variables. In the Pilis Forestry Systems Experiment, the microclimate considerably changed in the clear-cutting, while in the gap- and preparation cutting it was similar to the control. The tree regeneration was successful in the gap and in the clear-cut, in both cases the shade tolerant trees outcompeted the oak saplings. The understory of the clear-cuts was dominated by disturbance tolerant species. The abundance of enchytraeid worms decreased in the clear-cutting and retention tree group because of the increased soil temperature. For ground beetles, the proportion of non-forest, generalist species increased in the clear-cutting and retention tree group. For spider assemblages mainly the species composition changed. In the Pilis Gap experiment the studied gaps maintained the forest microclimate, the amount of light depended mainly on gap size while soil moisture increment on gap shape. The diversity of spider assemblages increased similarly in all gap types. We can conclude that continuous cover forestry based on low intensity gap-cutting is more favorable for forest biodiversity and microclimate maintenance than rotation forestry. The natural oak regeneration can be successful in both cases.
