During the three years of the scholarship, I managed to complete the tasks set out in my work plan: the manuscript of the promised monograph (which deals with the Burgenland-debate of the Austrian and Hungarian historians) was finished, and I published my research results in form of studies and book chapters in Hungarian, German and English, as well as I lectured about these topics on the appropriate professional forums. It is particularly important that the application created a suitable basis for further research, since I won a János Bolyai research scholarship for the period between 2023 and 2026.
I also managed to strenghten my professional relations with foreign professional forums (the editorial board of the journal Storia della Storiografia and the Herder Institute in Marburg) and with people who research the history of historiography (Stefan Berger), which indirectly promotes the international embedding of Hungarian historiography. Given the transnational significance and character of this topic, I laid great stress on the publication in foreign languages, and accordingly I am working on additional publications and presentations in English and German.
The application revealed the roots of debates prominently present in the collective memory, such as the interpretations of the Sopron referendum or the evaluation of the „political nation” and the „ethnic nation”. I presented the interactions between historians and society and political power.
