A projekt keretében látogatni tervezett nemzetközi tudományos/innovációs rendezvény bemutatása és a tervezett részvétel ismertetése Mutassa be a nemzetközi rendezvény jellegét, célját, szervezőit és jelentőségét a nemzetközi tudományos életben. Ismertesse a részvétel célját (pl. előadás, poszter, egyéb aktivitás), a rendezvényen való részvétel várható hatását és jelentőségét a saját kutatói karrier építésében. A projekt keretében két nemzetközi konferencián történő részvételt tervezek megvalósítani, melyhez kötődően az aktuális kutatási eredményeimet kívánom publikálni konferencia cikk formájában és ezekhez kapcsolódóan előadás kívánok tartani (szervezőktől függően poszter is lehet). Nevezetesen a 44th Annual International Conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society (EMBC) és a 20th IEEE International Symposium on Biomedical Imaging (ISBI) konferenciákról van szó. Mindkét konferencia orvosi képfeldolgozáshoz, elemzéshez és automatikus döntéstámogató rendszerek kidolgozásához kapcsolódik, ahol az elmúlt években már több alkalommal is sikerült elfogadtatni a benyújtott publikációimat. Ezen konferenciákon történő részvétel lehetőséget kínál a világ számos országaiban, tudományos tevékenységet folytató, főként az orvosi képfeldolgozással foglalkozó kollégák munkásságának megismerésére. Illetve, lehetőség nyílik ezen szakemberekkel történő személyes kapcsolat kialakítására, melynek során kutatási együttműködések is létrejöhetnek. További fontos eleme ezen konferenciáknak, hogy az elmúlt néhány évben nemzetközi megmérettetéseket is rendeznek különböző kapcsolódó témákban, amelyeken történő részvétel nemzetközi viszonylatban is elismertséget hozhat a kutatóknak. Erre jó példa a 2017-ben a megrendezésre került Skin Lesion Analysis Towards Melanoma Detection versenyen az általam kidolgozott melanóma szűrő rendszer az 5. legjobb eredménnyel szerepelt. 2018-ban, megrendezett Diabetic Retinopathy – Segmentation and Grading Challenge-re kidolgozott módszereim diabéteszes retinopátia detektálásának pontosságai alapján 3. és 4. helyet érték el.
A projekt összefoglalója, célkitűzései laikusok számára Adjon egy rövid, közérthető ismertetést a látogatni tervezett nemzetközi rendezvényről, illetve a részvétel céljáról, várható eredményeiről. Egy kutató számára a célul kitűzött kutatási eredmények elérése mellett a második legfontosabb feladata az eredmények publikálása, amelynek több okból is kiemelt jelentősége van. Egyrészt a hazai és nemzetközi kutatói társadalom megismerheti ezeket az eredményeket és akár felhasználhatja a saját fejlesztéseinek segítésére, továbbá a kutató visszacsatolást kaphat a szakterületen jártas kollégáitól, amelyek alapján tovább javíthat az elért eredményeken. Mindemellett a magyar kutatói közösség megítélése is múlik ezeken a nemzetközi publikációkon. Az elmúlt években főként orvosi képfeldolgozás területéhez kapcsolódóan dolgoztam ki innovatív megoldásokat, amelyek gyakorlatban történő alkalmazása több ízben is segítette a szakorvosok munkáját. Jelen támogatás felhasználásával a következő időszakban elért eredményeim publikálásához szükséges anyagi támogatást kívánom megteremteni.
Summary
Presentation of the international scientific/innovation event to be visited in the project and description of the proposed participation Present the type, purpose, organizers, and significance of the international event in the scientific community. Present the purpose of the participation (e.g., paper, poster, other activity), the expected impact of the participation in the event and its significance in building your own research career. Within this project, I plan to participate in two international conferences, where I will publish my current research results in the form of conference papers and hold a presentation (based on the decision it can be a poster also). Namely, I would like to participate in the 44th Annual International Conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society (EMBC) and the 20th IEEE International Symposium on Biomedical Imaging (ISBI). Both conferences are related to medical image processing, analysis, and development of automated decision support systems, where my several publications have been accepted in the past years. Participation in these conferences provides an opportunity to learn about the work of colleagues from the field of medical image processing and it also offers the opportunity to establish personal contacts with these professionals, which may lead to research collaborations. Another important aspect of these conferences is that, in the last few years, international competitions have been organized on various related topics, in which participation can bring international reputation to researchers. A good example of this is that in the 2017 Skin Lesion Analysis Towards Melanoma Detection competition, my melanoma screening system was ranked 5th best. In 2018, my methods developed for the Diabetic Retinopathy - Segmentation and Grading Challenge were ranked 3rd and 4th best in terms of accuracy in detecting diabetic retinopathy.
Summary and aims of the project for a general audience Provide a short, general introduction to the international event to be visited, the purpose of the participation, and its expected results. For a researcher, the second most important task, apart from achieving the research results, is to publish these results. The national and international research community can learn from these results and use them to help their own research project. On the other hand, the researcher can receive feedback from colleagues to improve these results. Moreover, the Hungarian research community's perception also depends on these international publications. In recent years, I have developed many solutions, mainly in the field of medical image processing, and their practical application has helped specialists on several occasions. I intend to use this grant to provide the financial support necessary for the publication of my results in the coming period.

Nem történt részvétel a 44th Annual International Conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society (EMBC) és a 20th IEEE International Symposium on Biomedical Imaging (ISBI) című konferenciákon. Az eredetileg tervezett konferencia részvétel a részemről nem valósult meg, amelynek okai között található az elmúlt évben tapasztalt mértékű inflációból és energia válságból adódó drasztikus költség növekedés, amelynek következtében a támogatás összegéből nem lehetett volna finanszírozni az utazásokat. Az eredetileg jelentősen alul becsült utazási összeg mellett a forint árfolyamának bezuhanása miatt a konferencia regisztrációs költségei is több mint 30%-kal megemelkedtek. Mindezek ellenére a Skócia, Glasgow-ben megrendezésre került 44th Annual International Conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society (EMBC) konferenciára sikeresen bejutott és publikálásra került a „Classification of Pap-smear cell images using deep convolutional neural network accelerated by hand-crafted features for cervical cancer screening” című közleményünk, amelyre társzerző doktorandusz hallgatóm utazott el és mutatta be az eredményeket.

There was no participation at the 44th Annual International Conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society (EMBC) and the 20th IEEE International Symposium on Biomedical Imaging (ISBI). The originally planned conference attendance was cancelled due to a drastic increase in costs due to the high inflation and energy crisis in the last year, which would have made it impossible to finance the travel with the grant. In addition to the significantly underestimated travel costs, the collapse of the forint exchange rate has led to an increase in conference registration costs of more than 30%. Despite this, our paper "Classification of Pap-smear cell images using deep convolutional neural network accelerated by hand-crafted features for cervical cancer screening" was successfully submitted and published at the 44th Annual International Conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society (EMBC) in Glasgow, Scotland, where my co-authoring PhD student travelled and presented the results.
