A Nemzetközi Morfológiai Találkozón mintegy húsz ország kutatói vettek részt. A konferencia témája az alaktan kurrens irányzatainak és eredményeinek bemutatása, mely tagadhatatlan nemzetközi jelentőséggel bír: ez a legrégebbi morfológiai konferenciasorozat nem csupán Európában, hanem a világon – a mostani immár a 20. alkalom. A találkozó a világ nyelveinek széles skáláját fedi le az afrikai nyelvektől kezdve az amerikai indián és az ausztronéz nyelveken át az uráli és az indo-európai nyelvekig. Témájában megjelent mind az inflexiós, mind a derivációs morfológia, és fontossága kiemelkedő az elméleti, empirikus és metodológiai nézőpontok integrálásában. A tematikus változatosság nagy volt, az előadások többek között olyan alapvető kérdéseket feszegettek, mint forma és jelentés kapcsolata morfológiában, a nyelvhasználat szerepe a morfológiai elméletek létrehozásában, morfológiai tipológia, morfológiai összetettség, a morfológia külső és belső határainak kijelölése, a nyelvi kontaktushatások a morfológiában, vagy a szinkrón és diakrón szempontok relevanciája; és olyan alapvető fogalmakat tárgyaltak, mint a paradigma, a mintázat, a gyakoriság, a grammatikalizáció és az összetétel. Az elméletek, amelyek keretként szolgáltak a konferenciák előadásai számára, szintén sokfélék, többek között megemlíthetjük a szétosztott morfológiát, a konstrukciós morfológiát, a prozódiai morfológiát, a szó és paradigma modellt, a paradigmatikus funkció elméletét és a relációs morfológiát.

Researchers from around twenty countries took part in the International Morphology Meeting. The topic of the conference is the presentation of current trends and results in morphology, which is of undeniable international importance: this is the oldest morphological conference series not only in Europe, but in the world - the current one is now the 20th. The meeting covers a wide range of world languages, from African languages to American Indian and Austronesian languages to Uralic and Indo-European languages. Both inflectional and derivational morphology appeared in his topic, and his importance is outstanding in the integration of theoretical, empirical and methodological points of view. The thematic diversity was great, the presentations addressed fundamental questions such as the relationship between form and meaning in morphology, the role of language use in morphological theories, morphological typology, morphological complexity, the designation of the external and internal boundaries of morphology, the effects of language contact in morphology, or the relevance of synchronic and diachronic aspects; and discussed basic concepts such as paradigm, pattern, frequency, grammaticalization, and composition. The theories that served as a framework for the conference presentations are also diverse, including distributed morphology, constructional morphology, prosodic morphology, the word and paradigm model, paradigmatic function theory, and relational morphology.
