A projekt keretében látogatni tervezett nemzetközi tudományos/innovációs rendezvény bemutatása és a tervezett részvétel ismertetése Mutassa be a nemzetközi rendezvény jellegét, célját, szervezőit és jelentőségét a nemzetközi tudományos életben. Ismertesse a részvétel célját (pl. előadás, poszter, egyéb aktivitás), a rendezvényen való részvétel várható hatását és jelentőségét a saját kutatói karrier építésében. A Renaissance Society of America világszerte az egyik legnagyobb tudományos szervezete az 1300-1700 közötti nyugati történelem, kultúra, irodalom és művészetek kritikai kutatásának. Az innovatív, interdiszciplináris kutatásokra és pedagógiai megközelítésekre irányuló kezdeményezéseket, illetve a már bejáratott módszereket egyaránt ösztönzi és támogatja. Éves konferenciái az új felfedezések, beszédmódok, paradigmák közlésének elsődleges terepét jelentik, ahol a szakma európai és tengerentúli képviselői egyaránt képviseltetik magukat. A 2022. 03.30-04.02. között Dublinban tartandó konferencián Gian Michele Bruto (1517-1592) Rerum Ungaricarum libri-jének 2020-ban felfedezett trentói kéziratáról tartok előadást, ismertetve a velencei származású történetíró és filológus karrierjét, az eddig részben elveszettként számontartott mű megírásának körülményeit és céljait, valamint vázolva mindezek tükrében a trentói kézirat jelentőségét és a felfedezés révén megnyíló kutatási irányokat. Reményeim szerint Brutus személye és életműve ezáltal nagyobb figyelmet kaphat, illetve a téma nemzetközi feldolgozása felé is lépéseket tehetünk, a lehetséges partner kutatókkal vagy akár intézményekkel való kapcsolatfelvételen keresztül.
A projekt összefoglalója, célkitűzései laikusok számára Adjon egy rövid, közérthető ismertetést a látogatni tervezett nemzetközi rendezvényről, illetve a részvétel céljáról, várható eredményeiről. A Renaissance Society of America 2022-ben Dublinban tartandó éves konferenciáján Gian Michele Bruto (1517-1592) Rerum Ungaricarum libri-jéről tartok előadást. A velencei származású vándorhumanista Báthory István megbízásából írta kiadatlanul maradt monumentális magyar történetét, amelyet részben elveszettként tartott számon a kutatás. 2020-ban azonban Trentóból a mű egy szinte teljesen ép, szerzői javításokkal teli kézirata került elő, amely alapjaiban változtatta meg mindazt, amit eddig a magyarországi kora újkori történetírásról tudni lehetett. A felfedezésről és a kutatás jelenlegi állásáról a konferencián értesülhet először a nemzetközi tudományos közönség.
Summary
Presentation of the international scientific/innovation event to be visited in the project and description of the proposed participation Present the type, purpose, organizers, and significance of the international event in the scientific community. Present the purpose of the participation (e.g., paper, poster, other activity), the expected impact of the participation in the event and its significance in building your own research career. The Renaissance Society of America is the largest international organization devoted to the critical study of the world from 1300–1700 and its importance today. The RSA fosters initiatives that feature innovative, multidisciplinary research and pedagogical approaches together with well-established methodologies. It sponsors digital and print publications to disseminate knowledge, organizes in-person and virtual events to bring together diverse communities of inquiry and practice, and promotes the works of its members in the field of Renaissance Studies. The RSA Annual Meetings offer primary field to discuss new discoveries, languages and paradigms within the European and American scientific community. In my paper at the next RSA Annual Meeting (Dublin, 30. March-2. April) I will present the newly discovered Trento-manuscript of Gian Michele Bruto’s (1517-1592) Rerum Ungaricarum libri, in the context of the venetian historiographer’s career and the history of this unique work considered as lost for centuries. My intention is to bring fresh light upon Brutus’ ouvre and career and to find possible partner researchers or institutions for developing a future project for the systematic and critical study of this topic.
Summary and aims of the project for a general audience Provide a short, general introduction to the international event to be visited, the purpose of the participation, and its expected results. At the next RSA Annual Meeting in Dublin I will give a paper about Gian Michele Bruto’s (1517-1592) Rerum Ungaricarum libri. Stephen Báthory invited the Venetian exile Bruto to write the History of Hungary; the monumental work however, had not been published until the 19th century and was considered as partly lost. In 2020 an almost intact exemplar of the work was discovered; this sensational manuscript (full of Bruto’s autograph corrections) definitely will change the history of early modern historiography in Hungary but it is important generally for the broader, international audience as well.

2022. 03.30-04.01. között vettem részt a Renaissance Society of America éves konferenciáján Dublinban. A több mint 2000 regisztrált résztvevő négy napon keresztül, három különböző helyszínen, több tucat párhuzamos szekcióban adott elő. Gian Michele Bruto magyar történeti művéről szóló prezentációmat (In Quest of Political Correctness: Brutus's Lost and Found Rerum Ungaricarum Libri) 04.01-én délután tartottam meg a "Languages lost and found" szekcióban. Az RSA-konferencia immár hagyományosan a legfontosabb seregszemléje a reneszánsz és humanizmus korszakát kutató közösségnek. Ezért tartottam fontosnak, hogy a nemrégiben felfedezett kézirat kapcsán Brutus és a 16. századi magyarországi történetírás problematikája is megjelenjen a konferencián.

I attended the 68th Annual Meeting of the Renaissance Society of America in Dublin from 30.03. to 01.04.2022. Over 2000 registered participants presented in dozens of parallel sessions over four days in three different venues. I gave my presentation on Gian Michele Bruto's Hungarian history (In Quest of Political Correctness: Brutus's Lost and Found Rerum Ungaricarum Libri) on the afternoon of 01.04. in the session "Languages lost and found". The RSA conference has traditionally been the most important event for the scholars of the Renaissance and Humanism. That is why I thought it was essential to present the recently discovered manuscript of Brutus and the problem of historiography in 16th century Hungary.
