A projekt keretében látogatni tervezett nemzetközi tudományos/innovációs rendezvény bemutatása és a tervezett részvétel ismertetése Mutassa be a nemzetközi rendezvény jellegét, célját, szervezőit és jelentőségét a nemzetközi tudományos életben. Ismertesse a részvétel célját (pl. előadás, poszter, egyéb aktivitás), a rendezvényen való részvétel várható hatását és jelentőségét a saját kutatói karrier építésében. A pályázat célja Pályázatom révén anyagi támogatást keresek, hogy részt vehessek a 24. Bizantinológiai Világkongresszuson (2022. aug. 22–27, Velence és Padova) és, hogy megtarthassam 20 perces konferenciaelőadásomat, melyet már elfogadott a szervezőbizottság (l. az igazolást a csatolmányoknál). A világkongresszus a nemzetközi bizantinológia legnagyobb eseménye, melyet négyévente rendeznek meg. Ez a találkozó a legjobb hely, ahol nagyszámú nemzetközi szakértő közönség előtt a tudományos eredmények előadhatók, valamint kiváló lehetőség nyílik szakmai kapcsolatok építésére a világ vezető bizantinológusainak körében.
A prezentációhoz vezető kutatás 2016-ban részt vettem a 23. Világkongresszuson Belgrádbam mint doktorandusz. Előadásom eredményeként Oxfordban kutathattam és oxfordi kutatókkal dolgozhattam együtt 12. századi Hungarica-anyagon. Az együttműködés gyümölcseként disszertációm könyvváltozata elfogadásra került az Oxford University Pressnél, mely a legjobb bizantinológiai kiadók közé tartozik. Mint az NKFIH által támogatott posztdoktor kutató, 2021 decemberétől hároméves projektet kezdhetek, hogy az említett könyv elkészüljön.
Várható eredmény Jelen pályázat lehetőséget adna arra, hogy kiegészítésre kerüljön posztdoktori projektem anyagi kerete, melybe nem fértek bele a 24. Világkongresszuson való részvétel költségei. Sikeres pályázatom esetén tervezett könyvem első fejezetét tudnám összefoglalni Chalkédóni Leó , a 11. századi bizánci püspök teológiájáról és megismertethetném eredményeimet egy nemzetközi publikummal.

Presentation of the international scientific/innovation event to be visited in the project and description of the proposed participation Present the type, purpose, organizers, and significance of the international event in the scientific community. Present the purpose of the participation (e.g., paper, poster, other activity), the expected impact of the participation in the event and its significance in building your own research career. Aim of the proposal With this proposal, I seek funding to participate in the 24th International Congress of Byzantine Studies (22–27 August 2022, Venice-Padua) and to present my already accepted 20-minute conference paper (see the confirmation in the attachment section). This congress is the largest international event in the field of Byzantine Studies that is held every four year. The assembly provides the best place for the dissemination of scientific results in front of a numerous international expert audience and gives outstanding opportunity for networking within the highest echelons of Byzantinists. Previous research In 2016, I took part in the 23th Congress in Belgrade as a doctoral student and my presentation brought about a research stay in Oxford and a collaboration with Oxford researchers on Medieval material related to the 12th-century Byzantine views about the Kingdom of Hungary. As the result of the collaboration, the book form of my PhD thesis has been accepted for publication with the Oxford University Press, one of the best publishing house in Byzantine studies. As a postdoctoral NKFIH researcher, I will launch a three-year PD project in December 2021 to complete my book. Planned result The acceptance of the present proposal would complement my budget in which I could not include the costs of participating in the 24th International Congress. In the case of my successful application, I could present the essence of the first chapter of my planned book on the theology of Leo of Chalcedon the late-eleventh-century Byzantine bishop and disseminate my results for an international audience.

A tervezett kutatási támogatás a velencei 24. Bizantinológiai Világkongresszuson való részvételem anyagi hátterét biztosította. Az összeg az utazás, szállás, és regisztrációs költséget fedezte. A regisztrációs díjat a jelen pályázat elfogadása előtt már befizetésre kellett, hogy kerüljön, melyet más forrásból fedeztem.
A konferencia szervezői megváltoztatták eredeti tervüket 2022 júliusában és egy hibrid eseményt valósítottak meg. Ezzel egyidőben Covid-19 fertőzést kaptam, mely már a második volt az év során. Mivel az első, 2022 januárjában szerzett, betegségből való felépülésem több mint két hónapig tartott, kétséges volt, hogy augusztusban tudok-e majd utazni. Emiatt on-line előadás mellett döntöttem, annak ellenére, hogy a szállást már le is foglaltam.
Annak ellenére, hogy az előadásom on-line formában valósult meg, sikeres volt. Panelem többi tagjával hatékonyan tudtunk kommunikálni. Ők is otthonukból (Oroszország, Bulgária, Grúzia) jelentkeztek be, csak a levezető elnök és egy tag voltak jelen Velencében. Az előadás sokat segített abban, hogy letisztuljon annak a könyvfejezetnek a tartalma, mely egy monográfiám részét képezi, ami az Oxford University Pressnél fog megjelenni.

The planned research allowance subsidised my participation in the 24th International Congress of Byzantine Studies in Venice. The funding covered the costs of my travel, stay, and registration. The registration must have happened before the present proposal was accepted, so I covered the registration fee from another source.
The congress organisers changed their original plan in early July 2022 and opted for a hybrid event instead of a congress with all the speakers present. At the same time, I was affected by COVID-19, already the second time in 2022. Since the recovery from my first illness in January 2022 took two months, I was not sure whether I would be able to travel in August. Thus, I opted for an online presentation, though I had already reserved my accommodation.
Even though I gave my presentation online, it was successful. We could easily communicate with other members of my panel who were speaking from their home countries (Russia, Bulgaria, Georgia); only the chair and one speaker were present in Venice. The presentation helped me to have a clearer idea of a book chapter I am working on, which will be part of a book published with the Oxford University Press.
