Summary in Hungarian A projekt keretében támogatott nemzetközi tudományos/innovációs rendezvény bemutatása
Mutassa be a szervezés alatt álló nemzetközi rendezvény jellegét, célját, programját, célcsoportját és jelentőségét a nemzetközi, illetve hazai tudományos élet szempontjából.
Gyakori tapasztalat, hogy egy vizsgált rendszer a lassú, folyamatos hajtás ellenére zajos választ ad, amelyet gyors, lavinaszerű események kísérnek. Ilyen lavinajelenségek az atomi skálától a föld kéreglemezeinek méretéig a legkülönbözőbb rendszerekben létrejöhetnek, mint például ferromágneses anyagokban és szupravezetőkben lassan növekvő mágneses tér hatására, fémek mechanikai deformációja során, de lavinák kísérik az agyi neuronhálózat aktivitását, heterogén anyagokban repedések növekedését is, sőt maguk a földrengések is a kéreglemezek lavinaszerű elmozdulásaiként jönnek létre. A lavinajelenségek fontos sajátossága, hogy sok esetben kritikus viselkedést mutatnak, amelyet a statisztikus fizika megközelítési módszereivel lehet leírni. A konferencia célja, hogy áttekintést adjon a látszólag egymástól távoli jelenségek vizsgálata során elért legújabb eredményekről, segítse az általános trendek és univerzális aspektusok feltárását, valamint a hatékonyan alkalmazható kísérleti és elméleti módszerek megtalálását ezen a gyorsan fejlődő interdiszciplináris területen. Az Avalanche konferencia a lavinajelenségekkel foglalkozó tudományos közösség legfontosabb nemzetközi eseménye, amely 2-3 évente kerül megrendezésre európai helyszíneken. Kiemelkedő jelentőségét az adja, hogy az egyetlen olyan nemzetközi fórum, amely a jelenségkör általános sajátosságaira fókuszál, lehetővé teszi a különböző szakterületek kísérleti és elméleti kutatói közötti kommunikációt, interdiszciplináris megközelítési módszerek kidolgozását, és nemzetközi együttműködések kialakítását látszólag távoli tématerületek között. A konferencia megrendezésének lehetősége egyrészt komoly elismerés a szakterület magyar kutatói számára, másrészt jelentősen segítheti a hazai kutatások kiteljesedését, mivel átfogó képet ad a legfontosabb eredményekről, lehetőséget teremt a kapcsolatépítésre a téma frontvolát képviselő kutatócsoportokkal, és támogatja fiatal kutatók bemutatkozását és kapcsolatrendszerének bővítését.

A tudományterület fejlődését nehezíti, hogy a lavinajelenségeket a kutatók a specializált, szakterületi konferenciák egy-egy szekciójában tudják csak megvitatni. Az Avalanche konferencia célja az, hogy áttekintést adjon a látszólag egymástól távoli jelenségek vizsgálata során elért legújabb eredményekről, segítse az általános trendek és univerzális aspektusok feltárását, valamint a hatékonyan alkalmazható kísérleti és elméleti módszerek megtalálását ezen a gyorsan fejlődő interdiszciplináris területen. Az Avalanche konferencia a lavinajelenségekkel foglalkozó tudományos közösség legfontosabb nemzetközi eseménye. | Summary Presentation of the international scientific/innovation event supported in the project
Present the type, purpose, agenda, targeted audience, and significance of the international event organized in the international and domestic scientific community.
A large variety of physical systems respond to smooth continuous driving forces in an intermittent and stochastic way resulting in avalanche processes. Examples cover the range from the atomic to the tectonic scales, including avalanches in magnetic materials, superconductors, deformation of glasses and metals, cascades of irreversible rearrangements in soft matter systems, dynamics of imbibition fronts and crack growth; geological flows, such as snow avalanches, land slides, and earthquakes, and the bursting activity of neural networks. In many cases the avalanche processes show a certain degree of criticality, with absence of characteristic scales, and power-law decays of the temporal and spatial correlations. The aim of this interdisciplinary workshop is to provide an overview of recent developments of these seemingly very different processes and to find the general common trends, approaches, and tools which can help to advance this important emerging research field. The Avalanche conference is the most important international event of the scientific community, organized every 2-3 years at European locations. It has an outstanding importance, because it is the only international forum which focuses on the generic aspects of avalanche phenomena, and it facilitates the communication and the emergence of international collaborations among the experimental and theoretical researchers of diverse scientific areas, allowing for the development of interdisciplinary approaches. The opportunity to organize the conference in Hungary is, on the one hand, a great honor for the achievements of Hungarian researchers of the field, and on the other hand, it can further enhance the proliferation of avalanche research in Hungary. Since the conference provides an overview of the most important recent results of the field, it offers opportunities for networking with outstanding research groups, and it helps young researchers and PhD students to boost their scientific carrier.
