A projekt keretében látogatni tervezett nemzetközi tudományos/innovációs rendezvény bemutatása és a tervezett részvétel ismertetése Mutassa be a nemzetközi rendezvény jellegét, célját, szervezőit és jelentőségét a nemzetközi tudományos életben. Ismertesse a részvétel célját (pl. előadás, poszter, egyéb aktivitás), a rendezvényen való részvétel várható hatását és jelentőségét a saját kutatói karrier építésében. A) A Skót Irodalmak 3. Világkongresszusa 2022-ben a prágai Károly Egyetemen kerül megrendezésre. Európai, amerikai, ázsiai és ausztrál egyetemek mintegy 250 kutatót delegálnak a konferenciára. Célja a skót nyelvek, irodalmak, kultúrák világszerte történő tanulmányozása. A kongresszus a legnagyobb jelentőségű rendezvény a témakörben. Részvételem célja tudományos előadás tartása jelenléti formában. A skót irodalom hazai kutatói között ismertnek számítok; prágai előadásom tovább növelné láthatóságom a szakmai közösségben. Nemzetközi kutatásaimnak eddig olasz, cseh, brit és amerikai kollégákkal létrehozott könyv, könyvfejezet és előadás az eredménye. A konferencián elhangzó eredmények hozzájárulnak kutatásomhoz, melynek következő lépcsőfoka a habilitáció. Az elhangzó előadásom pedig a habilitációs kötethez végzett kutatásom egyik kimeneti eredménye lenne. B) Az Európai Anglisztikai Társaság (ESSE) által rendezett nemzetközi konferencia 2022-ben a mainzi Johannes Gutenberg Egyetemen kerül megrendezésre. Célja a szakmai közösség tagjai számára nemzetközi bemutatkozás és kapcsolatépítés. Az ESSE a szakmában tevékenykedő 7.000 kutató számára biztosít fórumot 35 európai országból. A konferenciára 250-300 kutatót delegálnak a nemzeti szakmai szervezetek. Részvételem célja tudományos előadás tartása jelenléti formában. Az ESSE Csehországban és a Szlovákiában korábbi eseményeire kijutottam, de ez lenne az első olyan alkalom, amikor az ESSE nyugat-európai eseményére is eljutnék. Célom szerint a távolabbi kollégákkal való kapcsolatteremtés és a konferencia előadás egy nemzetközi könyvben való szereplést eredményezne, mint ahogy az említett két konferencia kimeneti eredménye is volt.
A projekt összefoglalója, célkitűzései laikusok számára Adjon egy rövid, közérthető ismertetést a látogatni tervezett nemzetközi rendezvényről, illetve a részvétel céljáról, várható eredményeiről. Projektem célja két nemzetközi jelentőségű tudományos konferencián való részvétel a prágai és a mainzi egyetemeken. A prágai Károly Egyetemen 2022-ben megrendezésre kerülő Skót Irodalmak 3. Világkongresszusa az eddigi legnagyobb volumenű rendezvény a skót irodalom, nyelv és kultúra témakörében, melyen várhatóan 250 tudós fog találkozni. Célom tudományos előadás tartása és meglevő nemzetközi kapcsolataim ápolása és bővítése a szakmai közösségben. Mivel a téma elismert hazai művelői közé tartozom (a megjelenés előtt álló hétkötetes angol irodalomtörténet 20. századi skót fejezeteit én írtam és a budapesti Gondolat Kiadónál van előkészületben skót irodalomtörténei monográfiám), szakmai fejlődésem szempontjából kitűnő lehetőség lenne tudományos előadásom megtartása, mely reményeim szerint a habilitációs fokozat megszerzéséhez is jelentősen hozzásegítene. Az Európai Anglisztikai Társaság 2022-es mainzi nemzetközi konferenciáján való részvételem (melyen több hazai kolléga is részt fog venni) szintén nagyban hozzájárulna személyes és az általam képviselt felsőoktatási intézmény nemzetközi láthatóságához az irodalomtudomány témakörben. Mindkét korábbi ESSE-konferencia részvételem kimenete nemzetközi együttműködésben készült kötetben való szereplés lett, és bízom benne, hogy ezúttal is hasonlóan eredményes lenne nemzetközi konferenciasszereplésem.
Summary
Presentation of the international scientific/innovation event to be visited in the project and description of the proposed participation Present the type, purpose, organizers, and significance of the international event in the scientific community. Present the purpose of the participation (e.g., paper, poster, other activity), the expected impact of the participation in the event and its significance in building your own research career. A) The 3rd World Congress of Scottish Literature will be held in 2022 at Charles University in Prague. Universities from 4 continents will delegate 250 researchers to the conference, which aims to study Scottish languages, literatures and cultures worldwide. It is the most significant event on the subject. The purpose of my participation is to give a scholarly lecture in person. I am well known among domestic scholars of Scottish literature; my presentation in Prague would further increase my visibility in the professional community. The result of my international research so far includes book chapters and guest lectures in cooperation with Italian, Czech, British and American colleagues. The results of the conference will contribute to my research, the next step of which is habilitation. My lecture would be one of the outputs of my research on the habilitation volume. B) An international conference organized by the European Society for the Study of English (ESSE) will be held in 2022 at Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz. Its aim is to provide international visibility to members of the professional community. ESSE provides a forum for 7,000 researchers in the profession from 35 European countries. 250-300 researchers will be delegated to the conference by national professional organizations. The purpose of my participation is to give a scholarly lecture in person. I attended previous ESSE events in Czechia and Slovakia, but this would be the first time I attended an ESSE event in Western Europe. My goal is to connect with colleagues resident at more distant universities and to collaborate on an international scholarly, as I did after the two conferences mentioned.
Summary and aims of the project for a general audience Provide a short, general introduction to the international event to be visited, the purpose of the participation, and its expected results. I aim to participate in two scholarly conferences of international significance: at the universities of Prague and Mainz. The 3rd World Congress of Scottish Literature, to be held in 2022 at Charles University in Prague, is the largest-ever event on Scottish literature, language and culture, with 250 scholars expected to meet. My goal is to give a scholarly lecture and to expand my existing international contacts in the professional community. As I am a recognized Hungarian scholar in the field (I wrote the 20th-century Scottish chapters of the forthcoming seven-volume history of English literature and my monograph on Scottish literary history is forthcoming at Gondolat Publishing House in Budapest), attending this conference would greatly further my professional development and would also contribute to my obtaining the habilitation degree. My participation at the 2022 International Conference of the European Society for the Study of English in Mainz (which will be attended by several Hungarian colleagues) would also greatly contribute to the international visibility of my university. My participation at both previous ESSE conferences resulted in volumes that were produced in international collaboration, and I am confident that my attendance would be equally effective this time.

A projekt keretében két nemzetközi konferencián vettem részt előadóként a projekttervnek megfelelően. A 3rd World Congress of Scottish Literatures a prágai Károly Egyetemen, az Európai Anglisztikai Társaság nemzetközi konferenciája a mainzi Johannes Gutenberg Egyetemen került megrendezésre. A prágai konferencia során felfrissítettem nemzetközi kapcsolataimat olasz, brit és amerikai kollégákkal. Ennek eredményeként felvételt nyertem egyedüli magyar kutatóként az International Association for Scottish Studies in Literature nemzetközi tudományos szervezetbe, melynek soron következő évi ülésére meghívtak (2023.01.30.), és felkérést kaptam a Wyoming Egyetemen szerkesztett Edinburgh Biographical Dictionary of Scottish Writers c. életrajzi lexikonba szócikkek megírásra. Az új szakmai kapcsolatok keretében megismerkedtem román, kínai és lengyel kollégákkal, akikkel monográfiát tervezünk, a lengyel kolléga meghívott a Scotland in Europe 5. nemzetközi konferenciára a Varsói Egyetemen. Itt szintén előadtam, s ebből további publikáció várható. A prágai konferencián előadott prezentációmból készített cikket egy Q3 besorolású folyóirat elfogadta. A mainzi konferencián szintén friss szakmai kapcsolatokat építettem, az előadásomból jelenleg készítem a publikálni kívánt cikket. Mindkét konferenciarészvétel hozzájárult intézményem nemzetközi láthatóságához. A prágai konferencián egyedüli magyar kutatóként, a mainzi konferencián a Miskolci Egyetem egyetlen delegáltjaként vettem részt.

In the project, I presented at two international conferences. The 3rd World Congress of Scottish Literatures took place at Charles University in Prague. The International Conference of the European Society for the Study of English (ESSE) was held at the Johannes Gutenberg University of Mainz. At the Prague conference, I rekindled my international contacts with Italian, British and American colleagues. This resulted in my acceptance as the only Hungarian researcher to be invited to the next annual meeting of the International Association for Scottish Studies in Literature, and I was invited to write entries for the Edinburgh Biographical Dictionary of Scottish Writers (University of Wyoming). I met Romanian, Chinese and Polish colleagues and we are planning a monograph and was invited by a Polish colleague to the 5th International Conference "Scotland in Europe", held at the University of Warsaw. I gave a presentation there, from which I expect further publications. The article prepared from my presentation at the Prague conference has been accepted for publication in a Q3-rated journal. At the Mainz conference, I also made fresh professional contacts, and I am currently working on a paper from my presentation for publication. Both of my conference presentations contributed to the international visibility of my institution. I participated in the Prague conference as the only Hungarian researcher and in the Mainz conference as the only delegate of the University of Miskolc.
