A projekt keretében látogatni tervezett nemzetközi tudományos/innovációs rendezvény bemutatása és a tervezett részvétel ismertetése Mutassa be a nemzetközi rendezvény jellegét, célját, szervezőit és jelentőségét a nemzetközi tudományos életben. Ismertesse a részvétel célját (pl. előadás, poszter, egyéb aktivitás), a rendezvényen való részvétel várható hatását és jelentőségét a saját kutatói karrier építésében. A pályázatból két rendezvényen való részvételt szeretnék fedezni. Az egyik a Biomolecules in Action, melyet az Európai Biokémiai társaságok Szövetsége (angol rövidítése FEBS) szervez. A FEBS Európán belül a legjelentősebb nemzetközi eseményeket szervezi a biológiai tudományokhoz kapcsolódóan. Ez a kurzus elsősorban a biomolekulák vizsgálatával foglalkozó előadásokat ígér, illetve lehetőség van saját kutatómunka poszteres bemutatására is. Az eddigi kutatómunkám során a mikobakteriális DNS hibajavító rendszer aktiválódását vizsgáltam különböző stresszfaktorok hatására. Jelenleg ebből készül a PhD értekezésem. A munka azonban belépett egy olyan fázisba, ahol már csak a hibajavító rendszer két elemére, illetve azok interakciójának vizsgálatára koncentrálunk. A fehérjék izolálása, in vitro tanulmányozása nem idegen számomra, azonban kevés tapasztalattal rendelkezem ezen a téren. A kurzuson való részvétel során rengeteg ismeretanyagot sajátíthatnék el. A kezdeti eredményeink bemutatásval számos szakmai bírálatban, hosszú távú iránymutatásban részesülhetnék. Ezek nagyban növelhetnék a kutatásunk hatékonyságát. A másik szakmai találkozó a Bacterial Networks, melyet az Európai Molekuláris Biológiai Szervezet (angol rövidítése: EMBO) szervez. Az EMBO elsődleges célja az élettudományi kutatások előremozdítása, melyhez több ezer nemzetközileg elismert kutató segítségével készülő szakmai programmal járul hozzá. A „Bacterial Networks” a molekuláris mikrobiológia terén kínál szakmai fejlődési lehetőséget. A PhD munkám nagy része ezt a tudományterületet érinti. A PhD témám poszter formájában történő bemutatása igen fontos potenciállal bírhat a szakmai fejlődésemre. Ez a munka már publikálás alatt áll, így alkalmas lehet jövőbeni kollaborációs partnerek érdeklődésének felkeltésére. Az esemény formális jellege és témája is nagyban hozzájárul ezen cél eléréséhez. A pályázat elnyerése tehát nagyban elősegítené PhD képzés utáni éveimben az akadémiai szférában történő érvényesülésem.
A projekt összefoglalója, célkitűzései laikusok számára Adjon egy rövid, közérthető ismertetést a látogatni tervezett nemzetközi rendezvényről, illetve a részvétel céljáról, várható eredményeiről. A pályázatból két rendezvényen történő részvételt kívánok fedezni. Mindkét eseményt nemzetközileg elismert szervezetek rendezik, a szakma legelismertebb kutatóinak részvételével. A rendezvényeken lehetőséget kapnak a fiatal kutatók munkájuk bemutatására. Ezek az események formális jellegükből adódóan nagyon jó alkalmak szakmai eszmecserére, kollaborációs partnerek keresésére. A PhD fokozat megszerzéséhez közeledve az ilyen eseményeken való részvétel nagy jelentőséggel bír a szakmai fejlődésem, illetve az akadémiai pályán történő elhelyezkedésem szempontjából.
Summary
Presentation of the international scientific/innovation event to be visited in the project and description of the proposed participation Present the type, purpose, organizers, and significance of the international event in the scientific community. Present the purpose of the participation (e.g., paper, poster, other activity), the expected impact of the participation in the event and its significance in building your own research career. Applying for the grant, I would like to finance the participation in two international scientific events. Biomolecules in action is an advanced course by the Federation of European Biochemical Societies (FEBS). This society hosts the most relevant scientific events in Europe. Biomolecules in action promises lectures in the field of examination of biomolecules, along with the opportunity to present my research as a poster. My research work so far has focused on the activation of mycobacterial DNA repair system following the treatment with different stress factors. Now I am prepairing my thesis from this work. By now our research has entered to a stage when our attention mainly focuses on the interaction of two elements of this repair machinery. Isolating, and studying proteins in vitro is not an unfamiliar field for me, however I have rather less experience in that. If I got the chance to participate in this course, I could comprehend great amount of knowledge. Presenting our early results would provide me important feedbacks, and long term guidelines, which would significantly speed up our workflow. The other meeting is a workshop, called „Bacterial Networks” organized by the European Molecular Biology Organization (EMBO). EMBO is an organization of thousands of leading researchers that promotes excellence in the life sciences, setting up important scientific events in Europe and beyond. Bacterial Network focuses on molecular microbliology, which is the field of my PhD research. Presenting my PhD work here, which is now under publication, could attract the attention of potential collaborators. The formal quality of a workshop also contributes to this goal. To sum up winning this grant would greatly improve my academic carreer in my postdoctoral years.
Summary and aims of the project for a general audience Provide a short, general introduction to the international event to be visited, the purpose of the participation, and its expected results. From the grant, I would like to finance the participation in two international scientific events. Both are hosted by internationally well known organisations, with the participation of most acknowledged professionals. Young scientists are also welcom to present their research works in the events. Giving the formal nature of these events, these are a very apropriate occasions for the trade of scientific knowledge, and to find potential collaborators. As I approach to the final year of my PhD studies, participating these events would have a great impact to my later professional development, and also to my academic carreer as a researcher.

Az Európai Biokémiai Szövetség Biomolecules in Action III. nemzetközi kurzuson való részvétel a várt módon nagyban hozzájárult a szakmai fejlődésemhez. Egyrészt a kurzuson megismerkedhettem a fehérjekristályosítás és szerkezetfejtés legmodernebb megoldásaival, aktuális kihívásaival. A plenáris előadások során számos új kutatási iránnyal ismerkedhettem meg. Az elmélet mellett alkalmunk volt több gyakorlaton való részvételre is. Ezek elsősorban a plenáris előadásokon bemutatott technikák alkalmazhatóságára fókuszáltak. Az itt elsajátított praktikus ismereteket (elektronmikroszkópok használatával kapcsolatos praktikus tanácsok; tömegfotometria, mint lehetséges jövőbeni irány) azóta már több ízben alkalmaztam a kutatómunkám során. A kurzusnak a Német Elektron Szinkrotron adott otthont, valamint bejárhattuk az európai röntgenlézer kutatóközpontot is. Az itt végzett kutatómunkával való megismerkedés új szakmai perspektívát adott. Mivel a kurzus kis létszámú volt, rengeteg alkalmam volt szakmai eszmecserére. A kurzuson továbbá sikeresen bemutattam poszteres prezentáció során a saját kutatásom. A bemutatott munka címe: The effects of mycobacterial RmlA perturbation; szerzői: Molnár Dániel, Hirmondó Rita, Horváth Ármin, Török György, Tóth Judit. A poszteren bemutatott munkának én voltam az első szerzője. Ez a téma nem egyezik teljes mértékben az eredetileg bemutatni kívánt munkával, amelynek az az oka, hogy az eredetileg beadni kívánt téma nem került publikálásra a kurzis kezdetéig.

As it was expected, attending at the Biomolecules in Action III. International Cource organized by FEBS had an outstanding impact on my research career. At one hand I had the opportunity to acquire knowledge about the most modern methods and current achivements in protein crystallography and protein structural sciences. During the lectures I managed to gather new research directions, while during practical lectures we also had the opportunity to get advices, about the applicability and limits of the techniques introduced during lectures. The knowledge about the electronmicroscopy and mass photometry proved to be outstanding in helping my progress and new directions. The course took place at the Deutsches Elektronen-Synchrotron, and the European X-free Electron Laser. Having a better understanding about the ongoing research here gave me new perspectives in science. I also had many occasions for exchange of scientific ideas.
I also managed to present my research as a poster presentation. The title of my poster was "The effects of mycobacterial RmlA perturbation"; authors Dániel Molnár, Rita Hirmondó, Ármin Horváth, György török, Judit Tóth. I was the first author of the research work, presented in the poster. Since the research, that I originally wished to present in the course was still under preparation for publishing during the course, tthe topic of the poster was modified so that only published data were presented.
