Final report

Results in Hungarian
Az utóbbi évek egyik jelentős nemzetközi kutatási iránya az un. „alternatív” pozitron bomló (B+> ~15%) radioizotópokkal jelzett diagnosztikumok kifejlesztése. Az „új” PET (Pozitron Emissziós Tomográf) radioizotópok (radiofarmakonok) segítségével lehetővé válik számos olyan folyamat nyomon követése, melyekre az eddigi un. „metabolikus tracerekkel nem volt lehetőség. A jelen kutatási program célja az volt, hogy a leginkább perspektivikusnak tűnő néhány új réz és mangán radioizotóp (60-Cu (T1/2=23.2 min, B+=92%), 61-Cu (T1/2=3.33 h, B+=61%), 62-Cu (T1/2=9.74 min, B+=97%), 64-Cu (T1/2=12.7 h, B+=18%), 51-Mn (T1/2=46.2 min, B+=97%)) termelésére optimális és költség kímélő eljárásokat dolgozzunk ki. Nukleáris adatméréseink, valamint az új céltárgy készítési és elválasztási eljárásaink eredményeként ezen radioizotópok széles körben alkalmazhatóvá váltak olyan PET centrumokban, ahol kis, illetve középenergiás gyorsítók állnak rendelkezésre.
Results in English
Recently, the study of production methods of ‘alternative’ PET (B+> ~15%) radioisotopes has received an international attention. Radiopharmaceuticals labeled with these new radioisotopes can be employed to follow those processes in humans which were not available with the commonly used (metabolic) tracers. The aim of this investigation was to develop new optimal and cost effective production methods for the most promising new copper and manganese PET radioisotopes. ((60-Cu (T1/2=23.2 min, B+=92%), 61-Cu (T1/2=3.33 h, B+=61%), 62-Cu (T1/2=9.74 min, B+=97%), 64-Cu (T1/2=12.7 h, B+=18%), 51-Mn (T1/2=46.2 min, B+=97%)). Based on our results on production related nuclear data measurements and the newly developed target preparation and separation methods, these radioisotopes can be used widely in PET centers having low or medium energy accelerators.
