Final report

Results in Hungarian
1. Széleskörűen jellemeztük az Ir(111) és Ir(100) egykristályok elektrokémiai tulajdonságait vizes oldatokban, feltártuk a fontosabb anion-adszorpciós jellemzőket. 2. 3. Adszorbeált köztiterméken keresztül lezajló elektrokémiai folyamat, a hidrogénleválás mechanizmusát tanulmányoztuk zajanalízissel, ezüst és réz mikroelektródon. A kísérleteink során sikerült elkülöníteni a teljes zajból a töltésátlépési folyamat sörétzaját; melyből a vonatkozó elméletnek megfelelő látszólagos elektronszám változásokat kaptunk. 4. Femtoamperes felbontású bipotenciosztátot készítettünk, nanoréseket állítottunk elő; egyedi viologénszármazék-molekulák vezetőképességét mértük meg oxidált és redukált állapotukban. 5. Impedanciaspektroszkópiával jellemeztük polimerfilmek átnedvesedésének és kiszáradásának kinetikáját; ezt egy duzzadási modellel jellemeztük.
Results in English
1. The electrochemical properties of the single crystalline Ir(111) and Ir(100) electrodes have been studied in aqueous solutions; anion adsorption on these electrodes has been characterized. 2. We have demonstrated that on certain electrodes of platinum group metals in aqueous solutions, in their so-called double layer region, the properties of the impedance spectra can be traced back to slow anion adsorption. 3. Mechanism of an electrochemical process involving adsorbed intermediates: the hydrogen evolution on silver and copper microelectrodes has been studied by noise analysis. The shot noise contribution to the total noise spectra could be separated; the obtained apparent electron change number of the electrode reaction was found to be in accord with the corresponding theory. 4. A bipotentiostat of femtoampere resolution has been developed; conductivity of individual viologen molecules has been determined. 5. The kinetics of wetting/drying of polymer films have been studied by impedance spectroscopy; the findings have been rationalized by a swelling model.
