Final report

Results in Hungarian
Nagyenergiás nehézion ütközésekben kikerülhetetlen a kvantum színdinamika (QCD) alkalmazása a kvarkok és gluonok alkotta kollektív állapotok tulajdonságainak megértésében és az anyag új halmazállapotának, a kvark-gluon plazma megjelenésének tanulmányozásában. A kutatási tervünk végrehajtása során perturbatív és nem-perturbatív QCD-alapú modelleket felhasználva, megvizsgáltuk a nehézion ütközésekben létrejövő erősen kölcsönható anyag tulajdonságait; a gluonokra vonatkozó tömeg-ugrás kialakulását a QCD-ben; a partonok koaleszcenciáját alacsonyabb és magasabb impulzusok esetén; a proton-atommag és az atommag-atommag ütközésekben fellépő nukleáris effektusokat; a jet-tomográfia módszerének alkalmazhatóságát különböző nehézion ütközésekben; a di-hadron korrelációk tulajdonságait p+p ütközésben; részecske keltési folyamatokat időfüggő intenzív ábeli és nem-ábeli terek jelenlétében. Ezek az elméleti vizsgálatok szorosan kapcsolódtak a RHIC gyorsító mellett elvégzett kísérletekhez, de független elméleti eredményeknek is tekinthetőek. Kidolgoztunk egy perturbatív-QCD alapú modellt, amelyet RHIC energián széles körben alkalmaztunk a mért adatok vizsgálatára és jóslatokat készítettünk LHC energiára pp, dPb és PbPb ütközések esetére. Eredményeinket 38 cikkben foglaltuk össze, amiből 27 jelent meg referált folyóiratban. Ezekre eddig 410 független hivatkozás érkezett.
Results in English
In ultrarelativistic heavy ion collisions the theory of quantum chromodynamics (QCD) should be applied to understand collective phenomena of interacting quarks and gluons, especially the formation of quark-gluon plasma (QGP), this new state of the matter. In our research activity we used perturbative and non-perturbative QCD-based modells and methods to investigate the properties of strongly interacting matter formed in heavy ion collisions; the generation of gluonic mass-gap in QCD; the coalescence of partons at low and high momenta as hadronization mechanism; the appearance of nuclear effects in proton-nucleus and nucleus-nucleus collisions; the application of jet-tomography method for different heavy ion collisions; the basic characteristics of the di-hadron correlation in proton-proton collisions; particle production in time-dependent intensive abelian and non-abelian fields. These investigations have been strongly connected to the results of heavy ion experiments at the RHIC accelerator, although they can be considered as independent theoretical results. We have developed perturbative QCD-based parton model and performed different theoretical calculations to reproduce existing RHIC results and to prepare predictions for LHC energies in pp, dPb and PbPb collisions. We summarized our results in 38 papers, 27 papers have been published in refereed journals. So far we have received 410 independent citations on these publications.
