A Pseudomonas aeruginosa (PA) törzsek súlyos nozokomiális fertőzéseket okozhatnak, s a hosszantartó antibiotikum kezelések hatására gyakran multirezisztenssé válnak. A PA törzsek nemcsak multirezisztenciájuk miatt, hanem biofilmképző tulajdonságuk miatt is komoly problémát okoznak. A különböző antibiotikumoknak a PA törzsek biofilmképzésre gyakorolt hatását egymagukban és kombinációban alkalmazva is vizsgáltuk.

Pseudomonas aeruginosa (PA) strains can cause serious nosocomial infections, and often become multiresistant due to the prolonged antibiotic treatments. We investigated the local resistance and epidemiological relationship in PA strains isolated in a Hungarian hospital, furthermore we investigated the properties of PA infections and the clinical parameters as well. Our parallel performed experiments have confirmed that long-term antibiotic usage will select resistance not only against the antibiotic used but other groups of antibiotics as well. We isolated in Hungary the first extended-spectrum beta-lactamase (PER-1) producing PA strain from a patient previously treated abroad. This case draws attention to the possibility of the spread of the beta-lactamase-mediated resistance mechanisms between countries and continents. The occurrence of previously in PA strain described metallo beta-lactamase (VIM-4) containing resistance cassette in Klebsiella pneumoniae highlights the role of the spread of integrons or plasmids in the horizontal transmission and / or their re-acquire in different clinical isolates. PA strains can pose a major problem not only because of their multiresistance, but also their biofilm forming properties as well. We investigated the effect of different antibiotics alone and in combinations on biofilm formation.
