A vállalt feladatot teljesítettem munkatársaimmal, Ollé Viktóriával és Széchenyi Magdolnával. Összeállítottam Csánki Dezső: Magyarország történelmi földrajza a Hunyadiak korában c. ötkötetes művének (a IV. kötetet Fekete Nagy Antal írta) a családnévmutatóját, amelynek a terjedelme 575 lap.
A mutató tartalma. Nemcsak a „Főbb birtokosai” fejezet családneveit vettük fel, hanem ezek valamennyi olvasatát, helyesírási, alaktani és lexikális változatát, a nemesi előneveket, a nemzetség- és ágneveket bárhol forduljanak elő: a főbb birtokosok és a főispánok, a várak, városok, helységek fejezetszerű névcikkeiben ill. a lábjegyzetekben. Felvettük továbbá valamennyi birtokos intézmény nevét is, hogy a családnévmutató birtokos mutatóként is használható legyen.
Alapjában véve tipográfiájában is megegyezik az általam összeállított „Helynévmutató Csánki Dezső történelmi földrajzához” c. mű szerkezeti felépítésével (Akadémiai Kiadó, 2002).
A mutató hasznosításáról KISS LAJOS akadémikus szavait idézem a Helynévmutató Előszavából: ”Nélkülözhetetlen a helytörténeti, névtani, család-, gazdaság-, társadalom-, birtoklás-, egyháztörténeti kutatók számára, de jól hasznosíthatják a nemzetiségi viszonyok iránt érdeklődők is. […] végre több mint egy évszázad elmúltával elkészül a Csánki által már 1890-ben kilátásba helyezett” hely- és családnévindex.
A négy év alatt semmiféle gátló körülmény nem akadályozta e mű elkészítését. Volt tanítványaim kitartottak feladatuk mellett. Résztanulmányt nem publikáltunk.

I have completed the project of compiling the family name index of the five-volume-long book titled Dezső Csánki: The Historical Geography of Hungary in the Age of the Hunyadis (the 4th volume was written by Antal Fekete Nagy) with my collegues, Viktória Ollé and Magdolna Széchenyi. The index is 575 pages.
Not only did we include the “Main occupants” chapter but all the variants of spelling, form and lexis, we also took in the noble titles with the genus and branch names appearing in the chapter-like entries of the main occupants, tenants, castles, towns, places and footnotes. We also took in all the names of the tenurial institutions so that the index of family names could be used as an index of occupants, as well.
It is basically the same in tipography and stucture as the book titled “Index of Places to Dezső Csánki’s Historical Geography” that was compiled by me (Akadémiai Kiadó, 2002).
On the usage of the index I cite Lajos Kiss academician’s words from the Introduction to the Index of Place Names:
“It is essential for researchers working on local history, name studies, as well as family, economical, social, tenurial and church history, and useful for those who are interested in the national relations. [...] after more than a century the index of places and family names that Csánki promised in 1890 is completed.”
In these four years there was no hindrance that could have stopped the work. My former students stayed the course. We didn’t published any sub-studies.
