Summary in Hungarian
Folytatni kívánjuk az utóbbi évek munkáját, tartva
a tradíciókat, és alkalmazkodva a nemzetközi trendekhez is.
A pályaázat 4 nagyobb részre oszlik.

Gráfelmélet. Régi, megoldatlan extremális problémákat fogunk
megtámadni a Szemerédi-lemma segítségével. Különféle
színezési problémákat fogunk vizsgálni. Tanulmányozzuk a véletlen
és a kvázi-véletlen gráfokat. A gráfentrópiát szeretnénk használni
gráftételek bizonyítására.

A Kombinatorika Más Területei. Különféle feltételek melletti,
véges halmazrendszerekre (hipergráfokra) vonatkozó extremális
problémákat szeretnénk megoldani, továbbá bizonyos kizárt konfigurációkat
nem tartalmazó mátrixok extrém problémáit. Véletlen politopok statisztikai
tulajdonságait fogjuk tanulmányozni.

Algebrai Kapcsolatok. Különféle fontos csoportok pontos részcsoportnövekedési
indexét szándékozunk meghatározni. Bizonyos ,,szép'' algebrákat fogjuk
közelíteni véges mátrixgyűrűkkel.

A Kombinatorika Alkalmazásai.
Kriptológia. A digitális vízjelek egy pontosabb elméletét fogjuk kidolgozni
a véges halmazok árnyéktételei segítségével. Az ujjlenyomatkódokra
vonatkozó korlátokat akarjuk javítani.

Adatbázisok Elmélete. Folytatni kívánjuk adott függőségek minimális
Armstrong-realizációinak kutatását. A véletlen adatbázisokat is
tanulmányozzuk. Eredményeinket szeretnénk kiaknázni az adatbányászatban.

Bioinformatika. A genetikus sorozatok részsorozataiból való rekonstrukciójára
szolgáló módszereket és algoritmusokat tanulmányozunk.
Summary
We are planning to continue our work done in the past few years,
keeping the traditions and picking up new directions of the international trends.
Our grant proposal below is divided into 4 major parts.

Graph Theory. Old extremal conjectures will be attacked
by Szemeredi's regularity lemma. Problems concerning different general colorings
will be considered. Random and quasi-random graphs will be studied.
We try to exploit the graph entropy to prove graph theorems.

Other Areas of Combinatorics. We will solve extremal problems for
families of subsets (hypergraphs) under several conditions, extremal problems
for matrices with excluding certain configurations.
Statistical properties of random polytops will be studied.

Algebraic Connections. We intend to determine the precise subgroup
growth of various important groups. Certain ``nice'' algebras will be approximated
by finite matrix rings.

Applications of Combinatorics. Cryptology. We will develope a better theory
for the digital watermark using the shadow theory of finite sets.
We intend to improve the bounds for the fingerprint codes.

Database Theory. We want to continue the study of minimal Armstrong-instances
of dependencies in databases. Random databases will be studied. We will exploit our results
in data mining.

Bioinformatics. Methods, algorithms for the genetic string reconstruction problem
(from the substrings) will be studied.

Results in Hungarian
A pályázat résztvevői igen aktívak voltak a 2006-2008 években. Űj eredeményeink: Hereditary Property Testing, Inverse Counting Lemma and the Uniqueness of Hypergraph Limit. Hipergráfok, egyéb kombinatorika Új Sperner tipusú tételekte kaptunk, aszimptotikusan meghatározva a halmazok max számát bizonyos kizárt struktőrák esetén. Több esetre megoldottuk a kizárt hipergráf problémát is. Elméleti számítástudomány Új ujjlenyomat kódokat és bioinformatikai eredményeket kaptunk.
Results in English
The participants of the project were scientifically very active during the years 2006-2008. They did not only obtain many results, which are contained in their more than 150 papers appeared in strong journals, but effectively disseminated them in the scientific community. They participated and gave lectures in more than 100 conferences (with multiplicity), half of them were plenary or invited talks. Traditional graph theory Several extremal problems for graphs were solved. We obtained new results for certain Ramsey numbers, (local and global) chromatic numbers, existence of Hamiltonian cycles crossing numbers, graph capacities, and excluded subgraphs. Random graphs, large graphs, regularity lemma The "similarities" of large graphs were studied. We show that several different definitions of the metrics (and convergence) are equivalent. Several new results like the Hereditary Property Testing, Inverse Counting Lemma and the Uniqueness of Hypergraph Limit were proved Hypergraphs, other combinatorics New Sperner type theorems were obtained, asymptotically determining the maximum number of sets in a family of subsets with certain excluded configurations. Several cases of the excluded hypergraph problem were solved. Theoretical computer science New fingerprint codes and results in bioinformatics were found.
