A kiadásra tervezett disszertáció célul tűzte ki, hogy az 1848-49-es magyar forradalom és szabadságharc után emigrációba kéynszerültek Itáliában készült fotográfiáit összegyűjtse, azokat egységes szempontok szerinti adattárban rendszerezze; s a fényképet mint történeti forrást kezelve, azt alapvetőnek tekintve, a hozzájuk kapcsolódó írott forrásanyagot feltárja. E kutatás módszeréül a történeti ikonográfia eddig csak festményeken és grafikákon használt módszerét, továbbá a fényképről, mint történeti forrásról kialakult nézeteket kiindulópontként használva, kialakította a fotóikonográfia fogalmát, bizonyos, meghatározott fényképcsoportokra alkalmazható módszertanát. A kutatás eredményeként létrejött nyitott adatbázis (új adatok elhelyezésére alkalmas) a történészek számára eddig ismeretlen, az emigráció tagjait ábrázoló egykorú és hiteles fényképeket tesz ismertté, már publikált képek adatait pontosítja, kiegészíti. A történeti értékű fotográfiák felhasználásával, az írott és képi források együttes használatával a hiteles szemléletesség felé teszünk lépést. A katalógus a hiteles történeti rekonstrukció felé tett lépés, továbbá gyakorlati múzeológiai segédeszköz.
Summary
The thesis’ aim was to gather the photograps of those partecipated in the Hungarian Revolution and War of Independence of 1848-49 and then were forced to exile to Italy. The thesis is an archive of these photograps basing on uniform guidelines, and while regarding the photograph an essential historical source, it also aimed to reveal written sorces (both archivic and printed) connecting to them. The method of the research necessitated to create the notion of historical photo iconography. This method respecting the photograph as a historical source adapted the method of historical iconography hithero used only at paintings and graphics to different groups of photographs. The result of the research is an open collection of data (new data can be fitted into it continously) which both informs historians of hithero unknown authentic photographs of the time depicting members of the exile, and adds more details to photos already published. Photographs with their objectiv nature can help and describe history ’graphically’. Using historically genuine photographs, that is written and graphic sources together, lets us get cloder to authentic desciptiveness. The catalog is a step towards this desciptiveness and authentic historical reconstruction, and also a practical tool for museums.
