Summary in Hungarian
A gyorsan bővülő, a geodéziai helymeghatározást szolgáló permanens GPS/GNSS hálózatok értékes tudományos infrastruktúrát jelentenek. A folyamatos mérések tervezett tudományos igényű analízisével megbízható koordinátákat és sebességeket számítunk, javítva pl. a mozgásvizsgálati hálózatok geometriáját, eddig nem vizsgált tektonikailag fontos területekről nyerve információkat. A hosszú homogén idősorok előállításához a leendő mérések mellett az elmúlt 10 év EPN (EUREF Permanens Állomáshálózat) és a hazai hálózat méréseit is újraelemezzük. A többéves napi felbontású koordináta idősorok alapján vizsgáljuk az időbeli, évszakos változásokat (támogatva pl. a műholdas gradiometriai mérések értelmezését) és az idősorok zajösszetevőit is a ‘színes’ zaj jelenlétét kimutatandó. Az analízis regionális részét nemzetközi együttműködés keretében végezzük. Kiemelten kezeljük a magassági összetevő pontosítását, ebben nagy jelentőségű az idősorok részletes vizsgálata és hibaanalízise.
A kevésbé szigorú állandósítási követelmények miatt foglalkozunk az eredmények minőségvizsgálatával, leválasztandó a nem tektonikus hatásokat. A matematikai vizsgálatokon túl monitorozó méréseket végzünk, ahol az állomások stabilitását vizsgáljuk. A mérések egyben a Mozgásvizsgálati Program folytonosságát jelentik. Elemezzük azokat a matematikai módszereket, amelyek a folyamatos és kampány megoldásokat egységes vonatkozási rendszerben képesek kezelni ill. a többéves mérési sorozatokból levezetett sebességek mellé reális megbízhatósági mérőszámokat rendelnek. A projekt közvetett célja a geodéziai permanens GNSS/GPS állomások tektonikai alkalmazhatóságának elemzése.
Summary
The the quickly extending regional and national permanent GPS networks, serving the general practical positioning needs are representing a valuable infrastructure for scientific studies as well. Based on sophisticated analysis standards we derive accurate coordinates and velocities and test whether the permanent networks can be used to improve the geometry and areal coverage of the ‘classical’, epoch-type geodynamic networks to gain information from tectonically interesting, but so far not surveyed areas covered with deep sediments. In order to have long term homogenous time series according to the latest standards we process the follow-on data and re-process the observations collected in the last 10 years. The derived multi-year coordinate time series with daily resolution will be used for the analysis of periodic signals, that may be used for the interpretation of the satellite gradiometric results. In order to derive realistic velocity uncertainities we also analyse the noise content of the time series, checking the presence of colored noise.
The regional part (EPN subnetwork) of the analysis will be done in international cooperation. In order to get significant up velocities we carefully treat the height component, where the time series analysis tools will have great impact.
Because of the less stringent monumentation standards we must perform monitoring measurements to check the station stability and tectonic significance. We shall analyze the mathematical tools, which will be used for the uniform treatment of the permanent and epoch type observations. Highly reliable site velocities and the related trustful uncertainities will be derived and sent as input for the geophysical interpretation.

Final report

Results in English
The main project target, the assessment of the permanent GNSS networks (GNSSnet.hu, EPN, EUPOS) for geokinematic purposes has been successfully completed. In June 2007 and 2009 the MGGA (Hungarian GPS Geodynamic Base Network) GPS campaigns were successfully completed, and the results were analysed and interpreted. All available data from the GNSSnet.hu sites were also processed. The estimated velocities are in the range of 0-2 mm/year and in good agreement with estimates from the MGGA analysis. The seasonal signal in the different GPS time series was also analysed with special regard on it's dependence of the actual GPS network size. The estimates were compared to models from surface load and GRACE solutions. I concluded that the smaller the network the smaller the detectable annual signal. Integrating the global IGS and regional EPN weekly SINEX solutions I could prove that only the global or 'globalized' network can be used for realistic seasonal signal analysis. I developed a procedure, which can be used to rank the permanent stations using the convergence of their velocity estimates. The solution was made official in the EPN (http://www.epncb.oma.be/_trackingnetwork/coordinates/index.php) and also successfully applied for the categorization of the GNSSnet.hu sites.
