Summary
The manuscript describes the contribution of the arcuate nucleus and the catecholaminergic cell gfroups of the brainstem to the neuropeptide Y (NPY) innervation of the corticotropin-releasing hormone (CRH)-synthesizing neurons located in the paraventricular nucleus of the hypothalamus (PVN). Besides that NPY is one of the most effective orexigenic peptides, it has an important role in the regulation of the CRH neurons. The elucidation of the three distinct origins of the NPY innervation of CRH neurons helps the understanding of the regulation of CRH neurons.
