1. fiatalabb életkorban – szemben a TP elvárásával – mindig a tárgyközpontú értelmezést alkalmazzák a csecsemők mind a célok, mind az érzelemkifejezések értelmezése során;
2. az idősebb korosztály az elméletnek megfelelően személyspecifikus célokat és érzelmeket tulajdonít osztenzív-kommunikatív jegyek hiányában, míg jelenlétükben a tárgyközpontú értelmezés lép működésbe;
Summary
The main question of our experiments is how the infants become able to interpret fluently the person-object interactions (eg. somebody grasps something, sy expresses emotions in relation to sg, works sg. etc.). We ask when the infants understand the variable roles of persons, and what determines the selection of the object-centred vs. person-centred interpretations of interactions. The current studies of development of social cognition create our theoretical background, especially the Human Pedagogy (HP) theory. The experiments are extended the theoretical question of interpretation selection to three fields: understanding goals, interpretation of referential emotional expressions, and imitation.
We suppose that
1. younger infants always apply the object-centred interpretation of both goals and referential emotional expressions contradicting the HP theory;
2. according to the expectation of HP theory in ostensive-communicative context older infants switch on the object-centred interpretation in, and without the ostensive-communicative cues they can attribute person-specific goals and emotions;
3. older infants use both the object-centred and the person-centred interpretation what results in selective imitation.
8-36-month-olds participate in modified versions of familiar procedures. We apply familiarization technique with looking time measuring (8-14m) and playful live situations with behavioural depending variables.
Our experiments running on three fields with broad developmental perspective will give important information to understand the human infant as an active interpreter.

Nem-kommunikatív kontextusban viszont nincs generalizáció, a tulajdonítás személyspecikus. 2.

Our research aims to investigate how young children interpret the human behaviour and how these interpretations determine their behaviour in three fields. 1. We demonstrated that 18-month-olds in communicative context generalize an object-centred interpretation of referential attitudes to others, whereas in non-communicative context they attribute to the emoting agent a person-specific attitude without generalizing it to others. We developed a new mentalization task in 4-8 year-olds. In the task the children are required to explain belief-based emotions. Regarding the task difficulty, the tasks show the predicted developmental trend and relation to other mentalization tasks. 2. We tested the assumption that picture comprehension can be facilitated in a social context that makes the creator’s intention available. As we expected, 2-2.5-year-olds perform better in using picture as a guide for action if they can interpret the pictures as the results of goal-directed actions in the treatment. 3. We investigated how selective and flexible preschooler’s imitation was and how the social context influenced their action interpretation. Our findings show that children tend to selectively imitate the relevant steps. Additionally, they are less likely to imitate the step that becomes irrelevant in a new test context. However, the social context can influence the imitative behaviour and they tend to overimitate a socially relevant but causally irrelevant aspect of an action.
