Nagy Zoltán a Nógrád megyei Zabaron 1938-ban született. Mint a palóc szájhagyomány szorgalmas gyűjtője és kutatója, sok ezer percnyi felvételen őrzi Nógrád különböző tájegységeinek szóhagyományát, amelyet szívós kitartással jegyez le és ad ki értékes kötetek formájában. 1970 óta foglalkozik rendszeres néprajzi kutatással. E legújabb kötetében a néphagyományokban gazdag, valamennyi palóc tájegység szóbeli néphagyományait mutatja be. A felvonultatott történetek között állatmesék (11), tündérmesék (37), legendamesék (19), novellamesék (11), ostoba ördögmesék és mondák (7), falucsúfolók (11), tréfás mesék (113), hazugságmesék (11), főleg hiedelem, valamint történeti és eredetmondák, csodálatos eseményekkel kapcsolatos leírások, betyártörténetek (130) stb. szerepelnek. A 356, többségében még nem közölt szöveget hozó antológia a nemzetközi kutatásban bevett műfaji besorolásban csoportosítja a válogatást. A kötet bevezetése elhelyezi az anyagot a táj, a történelem, a szóhagyomány gyűjtésének kutatástörténete, valamint az irodalmi palócság közkedvelt ábrázolási hagyományai között. A szövegeket jegyzetek kísérik. Az olvasót művészi fotómelléklet segíti, hogy még közelebb kerülhessen e varázslatos táj és népköltészete megismeréséhez. A sajtó alá rendező Dr. Benedek Katalin az MTA Néprajzi Kutató Intézetének népmesekutatója, felhasználta az intézet birtokában lévő Magyar népmese katalógus egész nyelvterületre és a történeti anyagra vonatkozó teljes összehasonlító anyagát.
Summary
Nagy, Zoltán was born in 1938 at Zabar in the County Nógrád. He is a busy collector and researcher of the tradtions of ’Palóc’ ethnic Group, and preserves in many thousand minutes the different region’s orality of County Nógrád, which he had put down and edits constantly in valuable volumes. He is a professional folkloristic researcher from 1970. In this volume (Fanyűvő Jankó/ Johnny the Treepuller) he presents the rich oral traditions of the total regions of the ’Palóc’ ethnic group. The volume is the best selection of the Animal Tales (11), Tales of Magic (37), Religious Tales(19), Romantic Tales (11), Stupid – Ogre Tales, Cold Blooded Servant Tales (7), Numskull Stories (11), Jokes and Anecdotes (113), Tales of Lying (11), Formula Tales, Belief, Historic and Origin Legends, Descriptions of prodigious Events and Outlaw Legends (130). In this Anthology most of the 356 texts are unpublished until now. The selection is grouped by standard genres, catalogised by the Aarne-Thompson’s International Folktales Catalogue. The Introduction speaks about the historiography of the collected material and at the same time places that among the literary tradition The texts are accompanied by notes, and the reader is supported to discover the marvelous landscape and his folktradition by an artistic photo collection. It was Katalin Benedek PhD a senior researcher of the Folktales at the Institute of Ethnology of Hungarian Academy of Sciences who redacts and gives a comparative analysis of the material

Az OTKA által támogatott PUB F 81620 azonosítású számú Hálózatok című projekt a tervezett időben lezárult és semmilyen formában nem történt eltérés a projekt munkatervétől. Fanyűvő Jankó. Palócföld meséi és mondái című kiadvány megjelent a Balassi Kiadó gondozásában. Az OTKA támogatás ténye és száma szerepel a belívben, a logó feltüntetése elmaradt, mivel a pályázati kiírásban még nem szerepelt. A belívet, tartalomjegyzéket, kötet címlapját csatoltam a beszámoló feltöltése menüpontban. A népmesegyűjtés Palócföldön a 19. században kezdődött, a szórványos próbálkozásokat a 20. század második felében követte a szervezett gyűjtés. Nagy Zoltán a Palócföldön él: harmincéves terepmunkájának eredménye a közel 1500 darabos kéziratos gyűjtemény, amely a tájegység szinte egészét felöleli. PUB F No.81620 supported by OTKA with the identifications title Hálózatok project finished in time without changing the form of the work schedule of the project. The publication Fanyűvő Jankó. Tales and legends of Palócföld appeared at Balassi Kiadó.
The fact of a support of OTKA and his number appear at the inside of the volume, the logo is missing since at that time it was not obligatory. I attached in an adequate menu item the table of contents, the required pages of the volume, the title page of the volume.
The collecting of the folk-tale was beginning in the 19. century on Palócföld, the organized collection followed the sporadic attempts in the second part of the 20. century. Nagy Zoltán lives in Palócföld: the result of his thirty-year-old fieldwork is given in the nearly 1500 bitty manuscript collection, which covers quasi the whole region. Our volume gives the 351 most interesting texts of this huge substance.
