Projektünkben saját korábbi kutatási eredményeinket fölhasználva a tudomány társadalmi mélyszerkezetének a vizsgálatára szeretnénk fókuszálni, a legújabb modellezési és szociális hálózatelemzési eszközöket is bevonva. Kutatásunk másik fontos módszertani alapját különböző evolúciós elemzési szempontok adják, ezek segítségével olyan metaelméleti eszközök teremthetők, amelyek hatékonyan kapcsolják össze a kultúra- és társadalomelméleteket a biológiával és a kognícióval. Jelen projektünkben nemcsak felhasználni, de fokozatosan bővíteni is kívánjuk alapvető módszertani és metaelméleti eszközeinket, hogy megfelelő keretet biztosíthassunk kutatásaink sikerességéhez.

Ezekre az alapokra építve a következő részterületeken tervezünk részletes és összehangolt kutatómunkát: 1. A tudomány közösségi szerkezetének dinamikus, hálózatelméleti alapú elemzése. (Célja a szakértő és a laikus, a tudomány és a befogadó társadalom ágensei, vagy akár az egyes tudományos csoportok közötti kommunikációs, együttműködési, idézési, kulcsszó-használati etc. szokások felderítése.) 2. A tudás társadalmi megítélésének problémái a XXI. században (a szakértőiség kérdése; a szakértők közötti választás problémája; a tudomány és nyilvánosság viszonya; az episztemikus függés problémája, a bizalom működése a tudományban, stb.). 3. A működésben lévő tudomány és technika filozófiai problémái (a tudományfilozófiai tradíciók összehasonlító elemzése; a tudomány és technika társadalmi és emberi gyakorlatának általános problémái; a technotudomány kérdése; a „tudomány és társadalom tanulmányok” problémaköre; a tudás reformációjának analógiája; az Internet társadalmi és kulturális hatásainak elemzése, stb.). 4. A fizikatudomány társadalmi szerkezetének változásai (a fizika történetének leírhatósága egy operacionalizált kuhni paradigma-fogalom segítségével; pl. paradigmaváltás-e a relativitáselmélet és a kvantummechanika létrejötte?; a klasszikus és modern fizika szokásos megkülönböztetésének megalapozottsága; milyen szerepet játszanak az egyes paradigmákat képviselő tudós közösségek és azok struktúrái a fizikatörténetben?). 5. Egy evolúciós, rendszerelméleti megközelítésre építve meta-elméletek kialakítása az egymással párhuzamosan futó, különböző kulturális szinteket érintő kutatásaink integrálása érdekében.
Summary
Based of our former research results, the current project will be focused on the investigation of the elaborate social structures of science. We utilize different methodologies, among them the most recent network modelling tools. Another important methodological foundation will be the use of evolutionary considerations. With their help new meta-theoretical tools can be created which connect the theories of culture and society with biology and cognition. In the present project we wish to gradually develop the methodological and meta-theoretical narrative to provide an appropriate framework for our research.

Built upon the above foundations, we will focus our research on the following points: 1. Dynamical analysis of the social structure of science grounded on network-theories. (Its goals are the investiga-tion of the lay people, the science, and actors of recipient societies or e.g. communicational, keyword using, quotational, and cooperational habits etc.). 2. The problems of social judgement of knowledge in the 21st century (the question of experts; the problem of choice between experts; the relationship of science and publicity; the problem of epistemic dependence; trustfulness in science; etc.). 3. The philosophical problems of functioning science and technology (the comparative analysis of different traditions of philosophy of science; the question of techno science; the problems of “science and social studies”; the analogy of reformation of knowledge; the investigation of social and cultural influences of Internet; etc.) 4. The social structures of the science of physics (the problem of modelling the his-tory of physics with the help of an operationalized Kuhnian paradigm-concept; is there a paradigm shift the development of theory of relativity and quantum mechanics?; the validity of the ordinary differentiation of classical and modern physics; what kind of role do the scientist communities of a certain paradigms and their structures play in the history of science? 5. Research on meta-theories concerning the integration of different cultural levels of parallel investigations on the basis of an evo-lutionary system-theoretical approach.

Pályázatunk a tudomány önreflexiójára fókuszált, igen széles átfogásban – a fogalmi és történeti alapoktól kezdve, a fizikatudomány példáján át, egészen a kvantitatív módszerekkel (tudomány- és bibliometriai elemzéssel, hálózatelmélettel) felderíthető leíró szociológiai vonatkozásokig. Munkánk közege sajnos nem volt támogató. A pályázat záró évében több jelentősebb, az OTKA pályázati szerződésben szereplő kiadásunkat az ELTÉ-n nem hagyták jóvá, kifizetésüket nem teljesítették. Tevékenységünk így részben ellehetetlenült, részben okafogyottá vált. (Több esetben a már elvégzett munka költségeit sem sikerült érvényesíteni, így pl. nem jelent meg a Ropolyi László által szerkesztett és kéziratban lezárt könyv, etc.) A számunkra kedvezőtlen helyi folyamatok végeredményeként, az ELTE TTK közelmúltbeli döntését követően, a pályázatot gondozó tanszékünk 20 év tevékenység után megszűnt. Munkatársainkat részben (az elmúlt évek során) nyugdíjazták, részben ezután más tanszékeken folytatják oktatói és kutatói munkájukat. Ezzel a tudománytörténet és tudományfilozófia művelése az ELTE TTK-n az eddigi formájában befejeződött. A jelen pályázat első éveit a már akkor jelentkező nehézségek ellenére sikeresnek tartjuk. Az online jelentés tartalmazza a pályázat során és támogatásával készített publikációink listáját is, mely szám szerint 45 elemet tartalmaz.
Results in English
The project has been focusing on the self-reflection of science, in a truly broad scope, from conceptual and historical foundations, through the case study of the science of physics, up to aspects of descriptive sociology (to be discovered via quantitative methods such as sciento- and bibliometrics and socal network analysis). The environment of our was not supportive. In the closing year of the project some important spendings, contracted in the current project, have not been approved and carried out by Eötvös University, the project host. Our activity was thus rendered impossible and partly pointless. (In some cases work already finished could not be accounted for, thus the book edited by Laszlo Ropolyi and left in manuscript could not be published etc.) As a final result of these developments, based on a recent decision of the Facculty of Science at Eötvös, our deparment was dissolved after 20 years of activity. Our coworkers were partly pensioned, partly continue in other departments. History and philosophy of science thus ceased to exist at the Faculty in an organized form. The first years of the project have been successful despite the growing difficulties. The online report brings the list of our publications with 45 items.
