Summary in Hungarian
Célunk a magyarországi vizek Centrales flórájának a feltárása. Mintavételi helyeink esetenként megegyezhetnek a vízügyes laboratóriumok törzshálózati pontjaival, de főleg ott nem szereplő folyókat és tavakat, kiemelten a természetvédelem szempontjából is értékes vizeket vizsgáljuk. A florisztikai vizsgálatokkal párhuzamosan a víz néhány fontos fizikai, kémiai tulajdonságát is vizsgáljuk, mely hozzájárul a Centrales fajok autökológiájának jobb megismeréséhez. A 21. században a biodiverzitás megismerése, megőrzése, a természetvédelmi prioritások érvényesítése fontos részét képezik a fenntartható fejlődés (fenntartható vízgazdálkodás) követelményeinek. Tervezett kutatásunk a közvetlen florisztikai ismeretek mellet várhatóan néhány faj taxonómiai státuszának tisztázásához is hozzásegít. Lehetőséget teremt arra, hogy ennek a világszerte sem kellő alapossággal ismert csoportnak hazai határozókönyvét, épp e kutatások alapján lehessen rövid időn belül publikálni. A hazánkban hiányzó, algákra vonatkozó Vörös Könyv összeállításakor a ritka Centrales fajok mindenképp helyet kaphatnak abban.
Summary
Phytoplankton is generally present in great species number in Hungarian rivers and lakes. Centric diatoms constitute the most significant group in lakes in the springtime and in running waters from spring till autumn. The only exceptions are small streams in the mountains and hills, which lack phytoplankton. Our aim is to reveal the centric diatom flora of Hungarian waters. Sampling sites occassionally might be the same as the standard sampling points of the water authorities’ laboratories, but most part of rivers and lakes are not included in these standard poits, especially those valuable from nature conservation viewpoint will be investigated. Parallel to algological studies, some important physico-chemical parameters of the water will be measured, contributing to the better knowledge on the autecology of centric diatoms. Cognition and preservation of biodiversity, validation of nature conservation priorities form an important part of the requirements of sustainable development (sustainable water management) in the 21st century. Our research expectidly helps clarifying the taxonomical status of certain species besides gaining direct floristical knowledge. It would provide an opportunity for the publication of a Hungarian determination book of this not extensively known group within a short period of time, based on these investigations. Upon the compilation of a Red Book of algae lacking in our country, rare centric species could definitely be included in it.
