Summary in Hungarian
A pályázat célja Blaschke János (1770-1833) rézmetsző életének és könyvillusztrátori tevékenységének tudományos igényű bemutatása. A monográfia első része Blaschke János több mint 40 éven keresztül végzett folyamatos és a korban is szokatlanul nagy volumenű rézmetszői tevékenységén keresztül a felvilágosodás és a korareformkor közép-európai könyvillusztráltatásának és könyvkiadásának a sajátosságait mutatja be. A feldolgozás a kultúratudományban újabban előtérbe került tudományos módszerek (olvasó- és olvasástörténet, média- és képkutatás stb.) alkalmazásával kiemelt figyelmet szentel az olvasási szokások, illetve a képhasználat ebben az időszakban bekövetkezett jelentős változásainak.
A monográfia második része Blaschke János könyvillusztrációinak jegyzékét tartalmazza. A hazai szakirodalom eddig Blaschke János 162 metszetét tartotta számon, míg a többek között OTKA támogatással (62711. számú pályázat 2006-2009-ben) végzett kutatómunka során az elmúlt években a rézmetsző kb. 1700 osztrák, német és magyar megrendelésre készült könyvillusztrációját sikerült feltárnom. Mivel a katalógusrészben minden tétel mellett szerepelni fog az ismertetett illusztráció kisméretű (oldalanként 6-8 kép) reprodukciója, a kiadvány hasznos kézikönyvként fog szolgálni a korszak történelmével, művelődésével, irodalmával, kultúrájával foglalkozó szakértőknek, illetve a metszeteken ábrázolt témák (pl. történelmi jelenetek, látképek, arcképek, vallásos ábrázolások, divat- és viseletképek, műtárgyreprodukciók, korabeli események, színházi előadások, regényillusztrációk stb.) iránt érdeklődő laikusoknak egyaránt. A mutatók segítségével az ábrázolt személyeket, városokat, országokat, természeti nevezetességeket, eseményeket ábrázoló képek könnyen kikereshetőek lesznek.
Summary
The project introduces Johann Blaschke’s life (1770-1833) and work as an engraver and book illustrator with scientific thoroughness. The first part of the monograph studies the pecularities of Johann Blaschke’s uninterrupted, unusually industrious activity as a copper engraver, which lasted for more than 40 years and was unprecedented in his period, and it depicts the book illustration and publishing of the Enlightenment and the Early Vormärz in Central Europe. The treatise applies scientific methods that have recently come to the front like history of reading and the research of media and pictures etc. and focuses on the significant changes in reading choices and the use of illustrations in this period. The second part of the monograph contains the catalogue of Johann Blaschke’s book illustrations. Earlier Hungarian scientific studies only mentioned 162 engravings by Johann Blaschke but, during her research supported by OTKA No. 62711 between 2006 and 2009, the author discovered approximately 1700 book illustrations created by the engraver to fulfill the orders of Austrian, German and Hungarian publishers. In the catalog part each entry will reproduce a thumbnail of the given illustration (6 to 8 thumbnails are planned for each page), which will make the study a useful handbook for both the experts and nonspecialists who are interested in the history, cultural history, literature, and culture of the period or want to study the content depicted in the engravings (e.g. historical scenery, views, portraits, religious imagery, fashion and clothing pictures, artwork reproductions, contemporary events, theatrical performances, illustrations for literary works etc.). The indices will help the reader easily locate the depicted persons, towns, countries, natural wonders, and events.
