A tervezett kutatás során egyrészt Hume _Tanulmány az emberi értelemről_ c. művének új nézőpontú értelmezését fogjuk kidolgozni. Eszerint a _Tanulmány_ az _Értekezés az emberi természetről_ c. műben kidolgozott konzervatív antropológia alapzatáról reflektál a tudományos kutatás módszertani átalakulására, és ezzel a háttérrel válaszol a filozófia ''Mit lehet tudnom?'' alapkérdésére. Az értelmezés szociologizáló olvasatot nyújt, amennyiben Hume belátásait a kortárs történeti-társadalmi kontextus felől közelíti meg, és a _Tanulmány_ értelmét ebbe ágyazva rekonstruálja. A kutatás során ezért megvizsgáljuk az eszmetörténet szociologizáló megközelítéseinek módszertani teherbíróképességét is, hogy az értelmezés számára a legmegfelelőbb elméleti keretet konstruálhassuk meg. Másrészt figyelmet fordítunk az _Értekezés_ és a _Tanulmány az erkölcs alapelveiről_ c. művek erkölcsfilozófiájának különbözőségére, mely a szakirodalomban gyakran elsikkad. Úgy érvelünk, hogy míg a szimpátia az _Értekezésben_ csak látszólag játszik megkerülhetetlen szerepet, addig a _Tanulmányban_ Hume olyképpen módosít perspektíváján, hogy szerepe valóban megkerülhetetlen lesz.
Summary
The proposed project aims, on the one hand, at a new interpretation of Hume's _Enquiry concerning Human Understanding_. We propose to interpret this work as a reflection on the methodological novelties of the 'Scientific Revolution' against the background of the anthropology he provides in his _Treatise on Human Nature_, an anthropology that can be aptly characterised as 'conservative'. Hume's _Enquiry_ thus provides a new answer to the fundamental question ''What can I know?''. The proposed interpretation offers a sociological reading as far as it reconstructs Hume's insights and arguments with an awareness of their social-historical contexts. Therefore, we also intend to explore the methodology of sociological interpretations in order to establish a framework of interpretation most promising for the present enterprise. On the other hand, we shall focus on the differences between the moral outlooks of Hume's _Treatise_ and _Enquiry concerning the Principles of Morals", which is mostly overlooked in the secondary literature. We shall argue that while sympathy plays only a seemingly central role in _Treatise_, later Hume's perspective changes and its importance becomes much more central in his _Enquiry_.
